a. she has never seen snow in her life

[While 2B is aware that the sudden winter is artificially generated, it's still something of a marvel to her. Actually experiencing winter. Coming from a world where the planet was tidal-locked, she's never experienced anything aside from a daytime temperate climate. Aimintas had shown her rain and night, and the Hub island showed her a tropical summer and storm. For Shehui, the weather wonder is snow.

And it really is a wonder to her, even if the cold of winter doesn't really affect her much. Having seen a good number of people bundling up in layers and layers of clothing, she appreciates being an android here if only to be spared the inconvenience.

There are a few days where she can be found outside just. Sitting on a bench, looking up at the sky (despite her goggles making it look like she's blindfolded) to watch the snow drift down. For something so simple, you'd think she'd get bored of it, but no, she watches it with the same sort of quiet awe every time. On another day though, her quiet time watching is a bit interrupted as there are a few kids playing in the park in front of her. Throwing snowballs, making snowmen, the works. If you happen to be nearby when they're making snow angels though, she'll turn from her seat to ask you:]

Do you know what they're doing? [She's seen snowballs and snowmen by now, but this is new to her.]

b. happy holidays, you get 2Booty

[It's a good thing the holiday mascot job doesn't really require speaking (or if it does, 2B's employees have frankly given up on getting her to recite the script with any cheer). She doesn't mind being stuck inside a giant reindeer suit, but she doesn't really understand how something like this is supposed to help encourage holiday spirit. Or entice people into buying a store's wares. Even if her employers told her the first part was the most important part, she has a feeling they'd be happier if she was telling people who passed by about their "great deals." That wasn't part of the job description on the board though, so.

Here she is, standing around somewhat stiffly and awkwardly outside a store in a giant reindeer costume. She waves back to kids who wave at her at least, but it's pretty clear from posture alone how confused she is by the job. If you're staring at her in amusement or confusion, well. She'll give a wave back at least.

Although that's not even close to how confused she is once the job's done. Given the suit, she figured coming dressed in her standard uniform would be more of a hassle than not, so she's dressed in only the baby blue t-shirt she got from 9S and her really high-cut leotard. It seemed like the most convenient way of dressing when she knew she'd be stuck in a giant animal suit for hours. Of course, the minute she steps out of the store's dressing room, her employers look. A little shocked. When she gets out of the store, it seems like there isn't a person who passes by that doesn't gawk or slow down to look at her.

And she. Really doesn't get it.]

Maybe it's because I'm not dressed for the weather...?

c. four months in and she's still trying to figure out "fun"

[Because if it doesn't involve fishing, she's frankly at a loss.

Honestly, there's a big part of her that thinks her time would be spent better and more productively at the dozens of jobs she's picked up. On the other hand, she thinks it's become somewhat necessary to expand her ideas and opinions on what counts as fun, if only for when people want to hang out with her. That in itself is still somewhat bizarre to her, but she thinks she should be able to offer more than just taking walks and fishing.

So here she is at the casino/arcade combo, looking somewhat bewildered as she takes in all the games and sights. There's a lot to pick from, which is probably a good thing since that means there's options, but. She doesn't even know where to begin with this.]

Alright, let's do it. Which game did you want to try first?

[Okuni is not used to having ALL THIS POWER, normally there'd be one or two people with her to try and pull her back with the force of sheer will. But now not only does she have the POWER OF CHOICE but the FREEDOM AS WELL,

she reaffirms her grip on 2B's arm and starts to tug, though 2B is probably hella too strong to actually physically move. Undeterred, she waves her hand at the long line of extremely sparkly and noisy and lit up slot machines lining the wall. ]

[okuni pls... One of the attendants makes weirded out eyes at the both of them, WHATEVER JOE, and states that they'll need to use casino currency once they're close enough.

oh.... right.]

Even though we have real money? That's stupid. [BUT THAT'S OKAY, Okuni fishes around in her sleeves for that sweet cold cash...] I think I have about... [insert RIDICULOUSLY HIGH NUMBER HERE] credits. We should have enough to do if I exchange them all, right?

[okuni already slipping into pre-bankruptcy]

[Indeed, moving an unwilling 2B would be like trying to roll a boulder, but she has no problem going along with Okuni's lead. Although maybe not the lead on pUTTING IN ALL HER CREDITS AT ONCE. UM!!!]

You need some of that money to buy food and whatnot though, don't you? Why don't you save some, and I'll put all of mine in? [SHE LITERALLY DOESN'T NEED IT SO WHY NOT!!]

Really? [her eyes growing WIDE WITH SURPRISE AND WARMTH] You'd do that for me?

[how is it Okuni's heart flutters with nakama feelings at this and not at 2B saving her life from dead sharks...]

No, no, it's only right that I put all of mine is as well! If I need food, then I can get someone to make me some. And anyway, we're totally going to win, so there isn't any need for concern!

[Are they though........ They don't even know how the game works yet!! But 2B does some quick calculations in her head about how quickly she could work up more money again through jobs, and she thinks it should be okay. Even if Okuni lost everything, she should be able to get it back for her.

So as ill-advised as she thinks this decision is, she goes along with it anyways.......]

Alright, if you insist. [turning back to the attendant] I'd like to put down [SOME ABSURDLY HIGH AMOUNT] credits myself.

[2B LOOKING OUT FOR OKUNI, AS ALWAYS.

Okuni looks summarily impressed at that high af number though.]

You never told me you were rich! [okuni u never asked??? but Okuni foregoes petty complaints in favor of excited eee's once the attendant forks over 2B's coins. the attendant looks like he's not sure whether or not he should be afraid of these two or grateful that he found two SUCKERS!!!

but it's fine, because Okuni immediately turns her back to the attendant in favor of the SLOTS]

Let's show them how to really play, 2B! We're going to annihilate everyone here.

[doES OKUNI WANT TO FIGHT OR PLAY SLOTS... anyway she'll immediately take up a spot at the machines once it's free, flexing her hands as she looks at the very shiny buttons and flashing pictures and incessant bells and whistles...... what is this]

It's only because I don't have anything to spend it on.

[Which is only partly true. It also helps that she does NOTHING BUT WORK!!! Even if she doesn't know it yet, gambling will kill two birds with one stone. One activity that both gets her to do something else and gets rid of her money.........

BUT SHE FOLLOWS OKUNI TO THE SLOTS also wondering how on earth you play this....... Why is it so flashy and bright....... While 2B might not be built for data gathering though, she knows how to observe and scout out a room. She takes a look at the other slot machines around and how people are reacting to the images on them. Hmmm.]

I don't think this is a game where you win against another person... [Little do they know they're about to beat the entire casino. ANYWAYS.] From what I can tell, the point of this is get the same picture in all the slots after pulling the lever. The more you get matched up, the more money you make back. Certain pictures are rarer and thus worth more to line up.

[She'll rectify 2B's lack of things to buy once they become filthy rich, just watch. As flashy and bright these slots are, 2B's explanation makes it easy to understand. That, and Okuni has a knack of absorbing new things fairly well, which might account for how quickly she gets bored of things. EXCEPT FOR TODAY, SHE'S GONNA PLAY EVERYTHING]

And different pictures represent different prizes, yes? [She looks at the 7 on the far right and the crown on the far left and the cherry in the middle. WHICH OF U ARE THE RAREST.

She should ask.

Okuni immediately inserts her coins and pulls the lever instead. The bells and whistles go off and a blast of really amped up unnecessary music plays as the pictures all line up.... all of them are different, but more importantly]

Oh, so the chances of them appearing are random, rather than based on actual skill. [HMMMM that's fine, that's what gambling essentially is... though Okuni prefers games with sleight of hand that she can cheat on] I wonder how often one has to play before getting the pictures you want...

[HOW DOES ONE MEASURE THE ODDS AND DO PROBABILITY, she should ask 2B the actual math whiz here]

[After Okuni pulls the lever, she watches the slots closely, listening in on the mechanism operating this and how fast the slots are actually moving. She also looks back at the other people playing to get a gauge of the same things. So after some quick calculations:]

It's not entirely random. [Here comes Okuni's personal super computer.] Pull the lever two more times, but on the third one, try putting in a lot of coins.

Okuni takes only a few seconds to look surprised before she immediately does as 2B says. She’s half all for the chaos this might bring and half trusting in whatever the defender of humanity has to say, tbh. A different melody plays this time, and the flashing lights double – ending with a large WINNER!!! Sign flashing madly on the screen.]

Oooooh! [OOOOH, the coins leave the slot with a merry jingle, and Okuni immediately sticks her hands under to catch the coins – then her kimono sleeves since THE COINS ARE OVERFLOWING, THEY’RE OVERFLOWING]

You did it, 2B-chan! That was amazing! How did you know?!

[Oh wow, that really is a lot of coins, oops. She knew it'd be a big win, but she didn't think it would all just come pouring out like this!! SHE'LL TRY TO HELP CATCH AS MANY COINS AS SHE CAN......]

Math. [THAT'S. REALLY IT. Granted, she at least realizes that most humans probably wouldn't be able to calculate math on the level she can.....] While it's impossible to calculate probability and odds to an exact level, you can make very close estimations.

[Over in the distance though, the employees notice that the two of them struck big oddly quickly. How strange....... But it's only their first win, surely they'll make that money back from them soon enough!!]
