[It's tough to live on an island that doesn't have many resources outside of the limited food sources and running streams. While Brie is aware of some other minor sources of food, like fish and frogs, one person exploring an island on their own means there are a lot of secret spots left to uncover. Despite adventuring for three years, her time on the hub itself has been much shorter, only staying for days or weeks at a time. Now that there are more people on this journey, covering ground is a lot easier.

Recently she's discovered another large estate -- much larger than her current shared mansion, which might also mean it has some supplies inside. On the morning of Day #, she's called together those who are hankering for more supplies in order to bring as much back as possible. Congrats, you get first dibs.

A. Upon approaching the house, the first thing that's noticeable is its size. It's all one story, but very flat and spacious. There are gardens in both the front and the rear, and upon entering (Brie might have enlisted you to help break the door down, oops) the inside is also quite vast. There are tons of rooms, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, two kitchens and other rooms that aren't even explorable because they need keys to be entered. Unless you can find these keys, that is?

B. Alternatively, or maybe even aside from exploring the house, Brie's also suggested that you do some exploring on your own. Again, she's one woman with limited time to scout the island herself. What can you find? What resources are there to be harvested? Will you share in this bounty, or keep it to yourself?]

That...does not sound like a great plan. [But there's a curious look at the mushrooms again anyway because it's possible.] Mostly because I don't think I've met anyone I don't like here. Any other ideas?

So you aren't objecting on moral grounds. [ Honestly he's amused ] Without the chance to analyse it chemically you have to go with animal testing. Feed the crabs to the boars to test if they have similar reactions to us. If yes, feed them mushrooms.

[He looks embarrassed but. Yeah. He doesn't care so much about that part...] They can't be too bad if they're growing this much. [That's not how botany works but okay, John. This is the wrong Harleybert to ask.] What makes you so sure we couldn't figure out a way to chemically analyze everything anyway? Since I don't think boars like crab? Or seafood. ...okay I do not actually know what boars eat, but somehow I do not think it's seafood.

[Get morals, John? You're not a troll girl.]

Not how botany works, dude. [DIRK ISN'T A BOTANIST AND HE KNOWS THAT.] We need the tools, or someone with that kind of power.

[This is what happens when you spend time having a crush on Vriska Serket, apparently.]

I'm not Jake. Or Jade. [So. The green thumb skipped half of the Harleybert family is the point here.] What kind of tools though? Power would be harder to find but we could probably figure out a tool or even look through the rest of the house.

[splinten]

Neither am I. And it's the kinds of tools that analyse chemicals. Which again, I ain't a botanist, so I can't tell you shit about that. I haven't done any work with organic matter.

[windeity]

So what you are saying is we're stuck with unidentifiable mushrooms that we may or may not have to feed enemies to decide what to do with. [He shakes his head.] This just adds to the list of life on this island that I think is weird to be seeing.

[splinten]

I think we've reached the point of expected weirdness here.

[He picks up one of the mushrooms and flips it over.]

Jake might have ideas. He did a lot of foraging of actual forestlife.

[windeity]

I guess I could ask him the next time I see him. Unless you see him first? [Shrug.] I don't know how often you guys talk.

[splinten]

[The question is not the easiest one to answer. As it is, Dirk and Jake have continued to not address the elephant that exists at the centre of all their conversations.]

We talk, but it'd likely be more useful if you got it directly than through a game of telephone.

[That's probably not a bad idea. And John himself won't bring it up because that is definitely not a thing he wants to get involved in.]

Then I'll go find him later. Maybe pull them up to take along instead of trying to find my way back here. The island keeps getting bigger and bigger even if the space isn't changing...if that makes sense. I mean like we keep finding more stuff and it starts to blend together after a while. Or maybe that's just me.

You guys didn't do a lot of exploring like this during your session, right?

[windeity]

Maybe not exactly like this, no, but I wandered around LOWAS for a while exploring and finding stuff. And when I got to the other planets there wasn't that much time to be as thorough but enough to get ideas. But nothing like spending days in one place.

[splinten]

We did a lot of that because ours was a dead session, and me and Jake both grew up in really isolated locations where exploring was one of the only things to do. This is pretty familiar to us.

[He glances at the environment around them.]

It's nice seeing trees, though. The other day Jake managed to find me a fruit.

[windeity]

[For a moment he doesn't know what to say and he gives Dirk an unreadable and curious look.]

The trees on LOWAS didn't have leaves or anything either. What kind of fruit did he find?

An orange.

[There's the briefest indication of happiness, right at the corner of his mouth.]

It was incredibly fresh. I'd rank it even above apples.

[It's something else he notices due to his new nature of observing Striders. He doesn't comment though.]

You must not have had very good oranges before. [MISSING THE IMPLICATION ENTIRELY.] But where did he find it? I didn't see any alive orchards on the island.

No oranges after the apocalypse, bro.

Then how do you know what apples taste like...?

Dave drew me one.

So Dave drew you an apple and Jake...found an orange tree bearing fruit somewhere on this island? That would be good to know. Maybe it means we can take some of the seeds and grow more trees or something. [That's how farming works, right.]

[splinten]

He didn't find it so much as increase the probability of an orange flying out of the woods into my hands.

[WHO EVEN FUCKING KNOWS HOW THAT HAPPENED.]

...what does that even mean? Like his power is to increase the probability of you being a fruit ninja?

[splinten]

It seems to be that he can increase the probability of something happening as long as it isn't impossible.

So, yeah.

That. Makes zero sense, but I guess that's on par with everything else. That's really neat. So like..luck powers, in a way. Right? Maybe we can get other supplies that way.
