How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. Are you up to speed? Great. Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about it? A ▢ Unlike the other coven members, the newbies are coming into the apartment building with non-empty apartment rooms. Depending on how polite or cautious you are, your first instinct may be to find your apartment and knock on the door. But it is your apartment now, too, and you do have an ID card that'll get you in. What horrible calamity will you walk in on? What eccentric roommates will you happen upon? The wacky situational comedy scenarios are ENDLESS. B ▢ One of the jobs on the job board this week is fundraising -- neat, right? Before you even make it up to your apartment, you may be accosted by an excited citizen -- coven member or no -- that is trying to push something onto your character. Chocolate bars? Cheese logs? Cookie dough? Some other luxury item or overpriced snack food? Because this fundraising task is based on commission, the citizen in question may be a bit pushy...or you may be inclined to buy ridiculous amounts of goods and not know what to do with yourself.

New coven members showing up today are in luck. This week, Shehui is celebrating a Keep the Community Clean event. It's rare that they force jobs on people, but there has been an influx of new citizens and the population growth is leading to more trash. Fulfill your assignment and you'll be rewarded 1,000 credits. Don't? Be fined 500. Everyone has been sent a job to their ID, be it collecting trash, cleaning their apartment building or holding up signs/handing out literature about recycling. Sweeping, bagging...it's dirty work, but someone has to do it. C ▢ Cleaning up trash on the street might be hard, but it's fulfilling! Okay, that's a lie. It's demeaning and a lot of citizens don't really care about the minimal littering credit deduction as they toss trash from their cars or miss throwing it into bins. Volunteers are outfitted with gloves, vests and a roll of trash bags, but it doesn't prevent them from being rudely splashed with snow or having to pick up nasty things. Have fun! D ▢ For those who decided to pass out literature, you did pick the better job! It's a lot easier to avoid getting nasty, but it's also awkward...having to hand out fliers, be cheerful, regurgitate boring facts about recycling. Please sir, stop and listen to this exciting speech about why should put your cans in the red bins, not the blue ones! E ▢ There is a bright side to these jobs: local businesses are getting in on the outpouring of people out and about to try and get them into seats and buying things. Free samples are abound! There's a local coffee shop, Mooncents, that is handing out free small drinks to anyone who is actually working today. Come inside, regardless if you "volunteer" or not. It's warm inside with all that snow out there...

Speaking of snow! Most businesses and buildings in Shehui have paid to have snow falling every other hour, which coats the city areas in a fine, powdery dust of snowflakes. You may be familiar with snow, or maybe you've never seen it in your entire life! It's unavoidable either way, so you're going to have to deal with it. F ▢ Children in Shehui are usually in a school building somewhere, but snow days call for some leniency. School is pretty come-and-go anyway, so don't be surprised that there are quite a few kidlets out and about on the streets. They're also fully into the spirit of snow, throwing snowballs at unsuspecting strangers. Will you get in on the action, or will you plan the murder of innocent children today? G ▢ While it's unadvised to just go lay out in the street and make snow angels, there are plenty of parks in which to examine or play in the snow. You won't be the only one acting like a fool -- it's Shehui. You're allowed to live a little! H ▢ Finally, Coins! has bought the most snow as a means for their seasonal activity -- snow paintball. If you're looking to have a good time and enjoy Shehui for what it is, you'd best be inclined to sign up. A massive field with snowbanks and excellent areas for hiding, snowball paintballs that hurt twice as much as usual. What more could you ask for? I ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world?

[ chika bursts right in with a slightly nervous smile on her face. she has no idea what to expect here. ]

d. a youth that advances straight to tomorrow.

[ this kind of job might be difficult for someone like ruby or riko, but for chika, it's a breeze! despite her reservations about being here and her uncertainty regarding just how well she'll acclimate, chika is a cheerful person, and her enthusiasm about recycling is one hundred percent genuine. this is important! ]

Excuuuse me! Over here!

[ chika all but thrusts one of the flyers into your hands. ]

Do you have a minute? I'd like to talk to you about the importance of recycling!

[ no? too bad! she's going to start talking before you can answer. ]

Recycling helps to reduce the pollution in the air caused by...

[ insert speech here. will you sit through it all, or interrupt her enthusiastic tirade? ]

e. i can't wait to see the smiles this year.

Aaaah...

[ chika is sinking into one of the plush couches as she sips her hot chocolate. after all that work handing out flyers and making speeches in the cold, a warm drink is exactly what she needs. she doesn't like coffee, but who doesn't like hot chocolate? ]

This really hits the spot, doesn't it? Hot chocolate should be free every day of the year!

[ she looks at you, the edge of her cup pressed to her upturned lips. ]

[ when chika is on her way home and hit smack in the cheek with a snowball... she stops in her tracks and whips her head around. ]

H-Hey! What the heck was that for—

[ oh. it's just a kid. still... chika is in full-fledged battle mode. she's quick to lean down and scoop up a snowball of her own before ducking behind a building and waiting to hurl it at her target. all in good fun, of course.

unfortunately, when she winds up and throws the pitch... it hits you. oops. ]

[ Riko, soon to be a victim to Chika's snowball, doesn't realize that she's walking right into a battleground. Actually, she has just noticed Chika in the middle of a street and rushed to her side. When she's just a few steps away from her friend...that's when she meets the snowball.

The huff she lets out might be the most hilarious noise ever, though. ]

Chika-chan...!

[ That was such a cold greeting... ]

A-Ah... ! Riko-chan?!

[ this is not what she intended to happen. regardless, chika abandons her hiding place and all but dashes toward riko, immediately gripping both her hands in hers. ]

I didn't mean to hit you— are you okay?

[ there are snowflakes in riko's hair, and chika brushes them aside with an apologetic laugh. ]

[ There's no way in the world she could be angry with her, not after that cute laugh...it'll continue to ring in her ears for a little while, too. ]

Yes, more or less...this is no place for a snowball fight, you know.

[ Riko lets out a sigh, but it's immediately followed by a warm smile. ]

[At least Mika's more relaxed around girls. Even pushy ones that are talking at him about recycling and honestly he feels the same?? It's important to recycle, because it's "beautiful" and keeps the world perfect? But

he is not the type of person who interrupts tirades so he just... quietly listens to Chika's entire spiel about them, fidgeting with what feels like the nth flyer that's been pushed on him today. It's notable that he's not looking directly at her, sort of keeping his head more down but clearly attentive all the same, because he claps when she's through.]

That was pretty good, y'know! I'll bet you're makin' everyone change their minds about just tossin' their trash~.

[ chika giggles, clutching the fliers in one hand and rubbing the back of her neck with the other. ]

It was sort of like putting on a performance. I just did what I know how to do best! Too bad I don't have a song to go along with it.

[OH HECK YES, NEW ROOMIE. Madoka had even started a fresh pot of tea (she had heard new coven members were arriving, after all), overly excited at the prospect of meeting someone new.]

[ chika clasps her hands together, her smile brightening. she didn't expect to see such a cute girl, and she only looks a bit younger than her, too. chika can be a senpai... ! ]

Hi there!

[ chika makes her way over to the tea and rocks back and forth on her heels with an uncharacteristically shy laugh. ]

My name is Chika Takami! I'm a second-year student at Uranohoshi Girls' High School, and a resident school idol!

[ she looks at madoka like she expects her to know exactly what a school idol is. she must have heard of µ's, right? ]

It's a pleasure to meet you— what's your name?

[she definitely knows what an idol is, but not necessarily a school idol. is it a regular school club? or is school idol just a name in Chika's group?]

[so many questions. but whatever the answer may be, Madoka is absolutely delighted.]

You're really an idol? That's amazing! [and then, her posture suddenly drops into something a bit more shy, too.]

It's nice to meet you, too — my name's Madoka Kaname. Um ... would it be too forward of me if I said I'd like to hear you sing sometime?

[ chika looks eternally grateful when dia takes the flier, giving her a thankful nod before going on her long spiel and managing to keep from stumbling over even a word of it. she puts all her effort into this one. she wants her senpai to be proud of her! ]

[There's a bundled-up troll in this coffee shop too--actually, more of a puffy jacket with shades. Between the layers, hooded jacket, and scarf, it might be hard to tell she's a troll at all: there's not much more than a peek of gray skin.]

Are you saying you want to put these poor hot chocolate sellers out of business? What a shame.

[ chika squints at her, the slip of skin noticeable but leaving her wondering whether or not her eyes are just playing tricks on her. no one has grey skin, right? that's just silly. ]

Of course not! That's not what I meant!

[ chika looks flabbergasted by the accusation. ]

On second thought, maybe just getting a job here would mean free hot chocolate all day, every day...

[She grins, but she can't take the charade much farther without lying, which she's not willing to do in these freezing conditions.]

Perhaps. Although it seems economically inefficient. Maybe if you were paid in hot chocolate?

[ Mika isn't really expecting a snowball to come flying out of nowhere and hit him smack bang in the middle of his back. Thankfully with it being padded to the Max it's not like it hurt, and it's just snow. It's not like they were trying to kill him, but it's the principle of the thing, really.

He is going to stop and turn his head to look behind him, frowning slightly as he looks for the culprit. It's not that he's going to kill you, he's just gonna shove you into the nearest snow mound.... ]

[ It's not easy to miss the hair. Or the demeanour. Mikazuki tilts his head slightly, the furrow between his brows lessening slightly. Very slightly. ]

[ chika points at him dramatically. ]

... Wait, I didn't hit, you did I? I-I didn't mean to!

[ she did?! oh boy. does she apologize, or make a break for it? she doesn't like the look on his face, but he didn't seem like a bad person. oh boy, oh boy. ]

[ yep, it's him again..... ]

[ It's not that Mika is particularly offended or angry really - it's not like it hurt him or that she was actually aiming for him. He'd have been more surprised if she had been aiming and actually succeeded than it being an accident. The way she gets flustered and apologetic about the whole affair is a little funny though.. ]

[ while ruby had been significantly more shy than chika in soliciting customers, she did manage to hand out the majority of her flyers! it's a job well done, and it makes the hot chocolate shared with a friend taste even nicer. ]

Mm! It's really nice, especially on a cold day...

[ ruby's cup has an abundance of marshmallows in it, and they're sloooooowly melting to make the drink sweeter. yum! ]

Yeah...

[ her smile remains, but it begins to sink as her eyes cast down to her cup. she's having fun with chika, but it's still strange. they still aren't in uchiura - or anywhere near home, for that matter - but their leader is taking everything in stride. ]

Chika-san... Can I ask you something?

[ akechi is at the coffee shop too - he came for the coffee, but decided to give the hot chocolate a go since they're giving out free samples. he takes a long sip of the warm liquid, peering at chika over the rim of his mug. ]

I normally prefer coffee, but hot chocolate somehow feels better on a cold winter day.

How can you stand coffee? It's so bitter...

Because good coffee isn't that bitter and has a variety of flavors. If bitterness is the dominant flavor, it's due to poor quality beans and not getting the brewing process right - such as using too hot water or letting the coffee steep too long.
