[DECEMBER INTRO LOG | WORLD TWO]
Who: All coven members, especially new folk!
Where: In and around the new world’s apartment building where the coven is staying, as well as the rest of Shehui
When: Day 160
Open/Closed: Open to All
Where: In and around the new world’s apartment building where the coven is staying, as well as the rest of Shehui
When: Day 160
Open/Closed: Open to All
How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. Are you up to speed? Great. Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about it?
B ▢ One of the jobs on the job board this week is fundraising -- neat, right? Before you even make it up to your apartment, you may be accosted by an excited citizen -- coven member or no -- that is trying to push something onto your character. Chocolate bars? Cheese logs? Cookie dough? Some other luxury item or overpriced snack food? Because this fundraising task is based on commission, the citizen in question may be a bit pushy...or you may be inclined to buy ridiculous amounts of goods and not know what to do with yourself. |
New coven members showing up today are in luck. This week, Shehui is celebrating a Keep the Community Clean event. It's rare that they force jobs on people, but there has been an influx of new citizens and the population growth is leading to more trash. Fulfill your assignment and you'll be rewarded 1,000 credits. Don't? Be fined 500. Everyone has been sent a job to their ID, be it collecting trash, cleaning their apartment building or holding up signs/handing out literature about recycling. Sweeping, bagging...it's dirty work, but someone has to do it.
D ▢ For those who decided to pass out literature, you did pick the better job! It's a lot easier to avoid getting nasty, but it's also awkward...having to hand out fliers, be cheerful, regurgitate boring facts about recycling. Please sir, stop and listen to this exciting speech about why should put your cans in the red bins, not the blue ones! E ▢ There is a bright side to these jobs: local businesses are getting in on the outpouring of people out and about to try and get them into seats and buying things. Free samples are abound! There's a local coffee shop, Mooncents, that is handing out free small drinks to anyone who is actually working today. Come inside, regardless if you "volunteer" or not. It's warm inside with all that snow out there... |
Speaking of snow! Most businesses and buildings in Shehui have paid to have snow falling every other hour, which coats the city areas in a fine, powdery dust of snowflakes. You may be familiar with snow, or maybe you've never seen it in your entire life! It's unavoidable either way, so you're going to have to deal with it.
G ▢ While it's unadvised to just go lay out in the street and make snow angels, there are plenty of parks in which to examine or play in the snow. You won't be the only one acting like a fool -- it's Shehui. You're allowed to live a little! H ▢ Finally, Coins! has bought the most snow as a means for their seasonal activity -- snow paintball. If you're looking to have a good time and enjoy Shehui for what it is, you'd best be inclined to sign up. A massive field with snowbanks and excellent areas for hiding, snowball paintballs that hurt twice as much as usual. What more could you ask for? I ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world? |

[for a dragon who likes to acquire stuff, Shehui has been moderately pleasant. Geir's not good at steady jobs, but he's good at volunteer efforts and he's good at following Vern to his job at a garden, and he's taken a great deal of pleasure in watching his credits pile up. he hasn't really used them for anything -- till now.
however, when the garden started their fundraising pitch, they decided to sell the flowers Geir had been helping grow. when Geir thought about a certain purple-haired grower of flowers in the coven calling her own flowers her babies, he couldn't quite bear to let them go to strangers. what were all these credits for if he couldn't buy things he liked?
all of that is the reason why Geir is parked in front of the coven's apartment building, admiring the hardy, colorful little winter pansies in pots spilling out from under his sheltering wings. if he knows anyone he sees heading into the apartment building (and maybe even if he doesn't), he lifts his head and calls out in a soft voice to get their attention.]
Do you like flowers...?
E - season's sales pitch
[Geir dutifully finishes his civic duty picking up trash bags, a job he's already taken once or twice in his time in the city so far. he's strong enough that it's easy for him to finish up quickly, which gives him a perfect opportunity to wander around and look at the impromptu market forming around the cleanup efforts. an enterprising foodseller in his truck, hoping to steal business from Mooncents, recognizes the opportunity and takes his entrepreneurial shot. he offers Geir a few more credits and a bowl of free cider for an easy job. just for the next couple of hours, promise! you don't mind a few holiday lights, do you?
Geir certainly doesn't. as a result, there's a food truck setup parked outside of Mooncents, advertising hot, mulled spiced cider (both hard and soft), fresh baked pretzels and doughnuts, and spiced nuts. it all seems very ordinary, except for the dragon curled up next to it festooned in "SALE!" signs and lights. he's absolutely glowing with the spirit of the season. as an advertising tool, he certainly stands out.]
Hey, hey, hey! Want some cider to go with that doughnut? Want a doughnut to go with your cider? Get them here!
[Geir's eyes are sparkling almost as much as the lights -- this is hilarious, he loves the lights, and he's overall thoroughly enjoying himself.]
G/H - it's beginning to look a lot like oh god what is that
[whether the residents of the city are rolling in the snow to make snow angels, or trying to accomplish an advanced tactical snowball maneuver, the very large and solid snowbank in the middle of the field where they're frolicking will surely appeal. a determined reveler could climb on top of it, use it as the starting point in a really awesome fort, or even tunnel underneath! what could be better?
...or at least, that's what one might say if it was actually a huge snowbank. since in reality it's Geir, who was taking a nap while the officials of Shehui laid down this latest layer of wintery white on top of him... one might get more than one bargained for if one started playing King Of The Hill.]
I - wildcard
[PM me for a custom prompt or hit me up with your own! Geir probably won't be found indoors, but anything else is fair game.]
b
He's silent at first, weighing what truly is a deep intellectual question for the ages]
...I've never thought about it.
[Roxas says at last, approaching the dragon without hesitation. He seems friendly enough, after all]
But it looks like you do.
no subject
[Geir looks down at the small, black-clad human figure in interest. it's strange to see someone contrast just as starkly with the surroundings as he does himself, with his dark scales. most of the coven wears at least a little color. or shows any skin at all.]
They're quiet, but they look interesting, and they work hard. Look at these ones growing even though it's cold! They can even get snow on them and be fine, you know. I didn't know flowers could do that.
[pansies: bought for ripoff fundraiser prices. learning a week's worth of flower facts: priceless.]
no subject
[But it certainly inspires greater interest, and Roxas crouches to get a better look at the flowers in question. He doesn't know very much about things like this at all, but the thought that such delicate little things aren't killed off by the snow is quite surprising.
Here he'd thought that in winter time, flowers withered away]

Geir can totally sleep through all of that, right]
no subject
that's probably enough to wake anyone up, and the hill Okuni's been defending makes a grumbly, rumbling noise deep in its inner recesses. that's just enough warning for the children to start yelling in exhilarated alarm before Geir's jaws gape open in a long yawn, the snow sliding off of his nose in the process with a wet little "plop" noise.
yawn complete, Geir lifts his head, blinking, and tilts it back juuust far enough to take an owlish look at what's happening on his back.]

How demeaning...
[Why does she sound like she's pitying him?!]
no subject
[the dragon catches her eye as he notices her surveillance -- Geir's hearing is very good, after all. he doesn't seem offended by her commentary thus far, grinning at her amiably as the lights glitter and dance in crazed refractive patterns on his scales. he doesn't have any reason to be anything but friendly.]
Aaannnd did you want something hot to drink while you're standing there?

[Dragons are free to do what they wish. They're powerful creatures who can smite many men -- and some Servants -- if thrown into a rampage. But... at the same time... dragons are part of her family's heraldic symbol. Proud, ancient, wise, a destructive force of legend. So why is it that there's this pipsqueak dressed up like a shameless Christmas tree???
Carmilla gives him a stern look.]

[Geir's in the best spirits that Jay personally has probably seen him in for a long time; the bright, slightly skewed enthusiasm of Geir fully caught up in something is evident in his voice. he apparently finds it just as funny as Jay does.]

[it's been a while since Geir's spoken to Moon, but he's very pleased indeed to see her, and especially in these circumstances! he hops to his feet and stretches slightly, showing off how the lights dazzle and glitter off his scales. it'd all look very cool if he didn't ruin the impression by wriggling like an excited puppy.]

These flowers look nothing like how he thought they would look - they are nothing but soft curving petals, but maybe he likes it, because Mika is stepping a little closer. The fact that these 'flowers' are being guarded by a creature he's never seen before in his life doesn't really faze him either. ]
I've never seen flowers before.
no subject
[Geir peers at this new stranger. he's just as interested in him as he seems to be in the profusion of colorful pansies spilling out across the snow, unperturbed by the chill breeze stirring their leaves. a lot of the coven members are a bit younger than Vern, he's noticed -- why is that...?
even some useful plants have flowers-- though perhaps, in a captive farm situation, their colors and differences were bred away for efficiency. flowers are as much a symbol of a wilder world as a gentler one. Geir's world is anything but gentle, but he's always liked seeing flowers grow.]

Plus, she looks damn cute doing it.
Less cute might be the imposing throne she's been lovingly sculpting up on part of the hill. Her craftsmanship is actually impressive, having already built up a chair taller than herself, packed down hard enough to sit on, and now patiently carving twining serpents about its edges... too bad it's on Geir's head.]
no subject
when he eventually lifts his head, blinking sleepily, it happens gently enough that the throne doesn't immediately fall off or crumble. it looks a little like Geir is wearing an absurd hat. Cagliostro doesn't necessarily fall off right away either, but she is suddenly seeing the world from a much higher perspective than usual.]
