How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. Are you up to speed? Great. Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about it? A ▢ Unlike the other coven members, the newbies are coming into the apartment building with non-empty apartment rooms. Depending on how polite or cautious you are, your first instinct may be to find your apartment and knock on the door. But it is your apartment now, too, and you do have an ID card that'll get you in. What horrible calamity will you walk in on? What eccentric roommates will you happen upon? The wacky situational comedy scenarios are ENDLESS. B ▢ One of the jobs on the job board this week is fundraising -- neat, right? Before you even make it up to your apartment, you may be accosted by an excited citizen -- coven member or no -- that is trying to push something onto your character. Chocolate bars? Cheese logs? Cookie dough? Some other luxury item or overpriced snack food? Because this fundraising task is based on commission, the citizen in question may be a bit pushy...or you may be inclined to buy ridiculous amounts of goods and not know what to do with yourself.

New coven members showing up today are in luck. This week, Shehui is celebrating a Keep the Community Clean event. It's rare that they force jobs on people, but there has been an influx of new citizens and the population growth is leading to more trash. Fulfill your assignment and you'll be rewarded 1,000 credits. Don't? Be fined 500. Everyone has been sent a job to their ID, be it collecting trash, cleaning their apartment building or holding up signs/handing out literature about recycling. Sweeping, bagging...it's dirty work, but someone has to do it. C ▢ Cleaning up trash on the street might be hard, but it's fulfilling! Okay, that's a lie. It's demeaning and a lot of citizens don't really care about the minimal littering credit deduction as they toss trash from their cars or miss throwing it into bins. Volunteers are outfitted with gloves, vests and a roll of trash bags, but it doesn't prevent them from being rudely splashed with snow or having to pick up nasty things. Have fun! D ▢ For those who decided to pass out literature, you did pick the better job! It's a lot easier to avoid getting nasty, but it's also awkward...having to hand out fliers, be cheerful, regurgitate boring facts about recycling. Please sir, stop and listen to this exciting speech about why should put your cans in the red bins, not the blue ones! E ▢ There is a bright side to these jobs: local businesses are getting in on the outpouring of people out and about to try and get them into seats and buying things. Free samples are abound! There's a local coffee shop, Mooncents, that is handing out free small drinks to anyone who is actually working today. Come inside, regardless if you "volunteer" or not. It's warm inside with all that snow out there...

Speaking of snow! Most businesses and buildings in Shehui have paid to have snow falling every other hour, which coats the city areas in a fine, powdery dust of snowflakes. You may be familiar with snow, or maybe you've never seen it in your entire life! It's unavoidable either way, so you're going to have to deal with it. F ▢ Children in Shehui are usually in a school building somewhere, but snow days call for some leniency. School is pretty come-and-go anyway, so don't be surprised that there are quite a few kidlets out and about on the streets. They're also fully into the spirit of snow, throwing snowballs at unsuspecting strangers. Will you get in on the action, or will you plan the murder of innocent children today? G ▢ While it's unadvised to just go lay out in the street and make snow angels, there are plenty of parks in which to examine or play in the snow. You won't be the only one acting like a fool -- it's Shehui. You're allowed to live a little! H ▢ Finally, Coins! has bought the most snow as a means for their seasonal activity -- snow paintball. If you're looking to have a good time and enjoy Shehui for what it is, you'd best be inclined to sign up. A massive field with snowbanks and excellent areas for hiding, snowball paintballs that hurt twice as much as usual. What more could you ask for? I ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world?

[ Really, the somber man in a coat and suit is just trying to look out for him here. ]

You don't know where it's been. It's not yellow, is it? Anyway, don't put it in your mouth. There are shops for that.

I wasn't going to eat it.

[ wow thanks jumin .... he's not that much of an idiot. ]

[ He eyes Mikazuki for a moment, curious if he shared the same experiences as Hakuno—or lack thereof.

Well, snow is fascinating to those who haven't seen it. ]

Where are you from, boy?

[deusex]

[ mika stares right back at the other as well, his expression mildly disinterested but nevertheless wondering why he'd come and say things like that to a complete stranger. what did it matter to him, anyway? ]

[ The compulsive need to correct what's wrong in the world, maybe. So when someone tries to troll him, he usually does everything in his power to stay on the rails. ]

I can't tell if you're joking. Please answer seriously.

[deusex]

Why would I joke about it?

[ a hint of frown crosses his face, but it's more out of confusion than annoyance. He hasn't got any reason to lie about where he's from ...

Mikazuki shrugs slightly, the big coat barely moving with the motion. ]

If you don't believe me, that's your loss.

[yancat]

[ Well, Hakuno did say she was from the moon. Okay, Jumin will believe him. But does Mikazuki have to be sassy about it?!

He remains standing at a distance, hands in his coat pockets. ]

Didn't they find ice on Mars?

[deusex]

[ mikazuki is always sassy...

who are 'they'? Mikazuki shrugs again. a lot of the resources were only really reserved for the rich and the influential. an orphan like him didn't even stand a chance to see anything else other than coarse bread on best days. he is more used to the red, dry, acrid soil stretching out for miles, the dust blowing over the cracked desertlands. ]

Don't know.

[yancat]

[ Mikazuki's experience with snow is little to none, then. That settles it. Jumin crouches at a spot next to him—just close enough for Mikazuki to watch him gather the snow in his gloved hands. ]

Do you know how to make a snowball?

[deusex]

[ he draws his hand back — curls it into the lining of the coat to warm it up as much as he can while watching the other draw closer. ]

What's it for?

[ presumably it's for some kind of playing, though Mika doesn't really see a point of something that crumbles so easily. ]

[yancat]

For snowball fights. But I don't like fighting. I'd rather build.

[Buildings, businesses, legacies that will last generations. A snowman that lasts for a night will do just as well if it'll give someone peace.

He starts gathering more snow, patting it into a bigger ball.]

Do you prefer building or fighting?

[deusex]

[ Mikazuki falters uncharacteristically; all his life it's been the latter, because they were used to having to fight for things, for food and shelter and survival. Nothing has ever been given to him, except for what Orga has, and even then, he knew intrinsically how much effort it took the other to even provide him with that much.

He can't imagine a life where they won't have to fight for the world to acknowledge their existence. Creating, building ... It's strange.

But he isn't asking him what he's used to, he's asking what he prefers. ]

I don't know yet.

[ Another one, it seems. Children are easily shaped by their environment, and he worries if the damage has already been done. But Mikazuki's here, poking at the snow with curiosity and wonder, so maybe not all hope is lost. As much as Jumin likes control, he isn't the one who should tell Mikazuki what to do. That's something he should decide on his own. ]

Well, keep your chin up. You're still young.

[ All he can do is guide him. ]

[ He throws a snowball at his arm. ]

There's nothing wrong with having fun.

[deusex]

[ it's not over yet for them, not for him — not just yet. There's still a barest possibility for something more, here.

In any case, Mika is just going to give Jumin a strange look, like he doesn't quite know what he's going on about.

That is, right before he throws a snowball at his arm. ]

[ brows drawing together in confusion or some semblance of it, he looks down at his arm and then back up at the other. It doesn't take long for it to click, and Mika grabs a handful of snow in one hand. ]

So that's what you're meant to do.

[ have some snow thrown right at your fancy coat. ]

[yancat]

Ah.

[ As much as he'd rather be building an entire snowman family, the snowball is an affront to his fancy coat, which he considers a part of his person. Which means Mikazuki is gonna get it. ]

I regret this already.

[ He walks away... to make another snowball and throw it back.

SNOWBALL FIGHT! ]

[deusex]

[ he started it... and if anyone's getting it, it's Jumin. ]

You'll regret it more later.

[ this time, Mikazuki sees it coming and he ducks to dodge it, barely missing his head. the snowball in his hand is crudely made, still a little clumsy, but it's thrown his way regardless. ]

[yancat]

[ It hits his arm, but that's not why he's annoyed. ]

Put pressure into it! [ He demonstrates like so as he dispenses this advice. A snowball tutorial is underway... ] Stop when it resists!

[ This time, he throws the snow at Mikazuki's chest. ]

[deusex]

[ do you know how hard it is to make a snowball with one hand??? oh well, he'll still rub his face in the snow regardless.

Mikazuki dodges it again, his movement somehow too fluid and too fast for it to be normal, if Just is looking out for anything like that. Who knows, Mikazuki could just have crazy reflexes. Of sorts.

He lets out a barely-audible breath through his teeth, almost a huff but not quite, more frustrated than annoyed. He's working on the snowball... ]

Easy for you to say.

I ALSO GOTTA ASK is he wearing an eyepatch?

[ From his clumsy, one-handed method of making snowballs down to his quick reflexes, Mikazuki is not a normal child. Jumin already figured as much, but the facts hit him harder than the boy's last shot. His features soften as he places an arm on his hip. ]

... Would you prefer another game?

I WISH HE DID....

[ it's too soft, too easy to crumble. snow isn't something that he is used to, and neither are the hint of pity that he can vaguely sense from the other man.

mikazuki realises, after what happened in edmonton, that the others are a little more careful and understanding of his 'condition' now even if he weren't necessarily aware of any disadvantages himself. It's been difficult, but it was fine once he was connected to Barbatos after all.

Things werent that simple here, obviously. ]

If you're only saying that because of my arm, you can just say so.

[ So much for trying to be nice. In truth, he's not as versed in dealing with people younger than him as he'd like to be. Even talking to Yoosung is difficult. But Yoosung is bright, cheerful and obedient—all good qualities he prefers in a person. Mikazuki is... not. ]

Alright.

[ He throws another snowball. It's likely to just barely graze against the boy's leg, if at all. ]

Do you want to continue playing the game with one hand? I don't mind, of course. I just want to know if you do.

[deusex]

[ Mikazuki isn't very versed in dealing with people, in general. He comes across as too abrupt to strangers, slow to warm up and slower still to make himself likeable, if at all. Like and nice are something that's decided in somewhat of a complicated measure of perception anyway, nothing that Mikazuki will necessarily concern himself with. ]

What else is there to do?

[ other than watching it fall, he's never really given much thought to snow. ]
