[The process will be familiar to some of you and new to others: some time over the past week, Jay or someone else would have quietly approached you in person and let you know about a meeting that was taking place tonight, hopefully away from the watchful gaze of Brie, Genette, and Qri.

Jay will greet you by the door. It might be a tight fit in the Geir-and-Vern apartment (if indeed it can be considered an apartment), depending on how many people show up. Take a seat on the ground next to the dragon--or on the dragon, if he'll let you--and wait for the meeting to come to order.]

Oh, I heard of you. You're the busybody who doesn't know how to mind his own business.

[ that's... not exactly how homura phrased it, but it's close enough, he thinks. ]

[rebells]

[He laughs.]

That's probably me, yes. Who told you that?

[alienates]

Homura. She said you took a lot of initiative about getting shit organized, and that everyone wouldn't know how to pull their own heads out of their asses if you weren't around, probably.

[ again. that's not exactly what she said. ]

[rebells]

[omg though]

That's very flattering. I'm sure everyone would get along well enough without me; we're a resourceful bunch. But I have organized a few things, yes.

[There's a mischievous smile playing around his face.]

Including this meeting. Welcome.

[alienates]

[ karkat has seen smiles like that enough time to just kind of, squint suspiciously at him. but then again, karkat tends to be suspicious of people before deciding they are his best friend ever, so this is pretty normal for him. ]

How do you decide who get invited to these things?

[ as it is obviously very hush hush. ]

[rebells]

I talk to people. I try to invite as many of the people I know who've expressed skepticism and a willingness to question Qri and the status quo, and encourage them to do the same.

[alienates]

Okay so, what's the ratio of that then? How many people aren't skeptical enough to receive an invite?

[ because there are definitely a few faces he knows are around like they are, but aren't present this exact moment. ]

[rebells]

[He shrugs.]

I'd say maybe a third of the people I know are here. But someone not being here doesn't necessarily mean they aren't skeptical enough; I haven't talked to everyone about Qri.

[alienates]

So, you mean there's a good chance that we could just open this up to literally everyone who gets chosen by the great and powerful Qri?

[ that certainly would be a lot of cats to herd... ]

How long have you been doing this?

[rebells]

Not everyone. [He doesn't clarify how he knows this.] But potentially a greater number of people, yes. This is only the second meeting.

[alienates]

[ he waits to see if jay is going to clarify the first point, and once it becomes abundantly clear that he is not, he just. okay then. ]

And how many question answering sessions have they done?

[rebells]

[You gotta ask questions, Karkat!!]

One. About a month after we gave her the first list of questions.

[alienates]

Did she say that she was going to do a Q&A beforehand and were you guys just like, "Hey, answer these," and hope for the best?

[rebells]

She didn't say she was going to. We gave her the list, and eventually she decided she would answer some of the questions on it.

[alienates]

[ that's. one way to do it. ]

So you just handed it to her and waited to see what would happen? No check-ins?

[ karkat means to say that he would have been very obnoxious about her reading that list. ]

[rebells]

[Mildly:]

I talked to her daily via telepathy. She never responded. It's difficult to do anything without leverage, which we didn't have at the time.

[alienates]

Maybe she had you muted.

[ he doesn't even know if that's a thing. ]

[rebells]

[He grins.]

If she can actually do that, I wouldn't put it past her. But no, supposedly she found our telepathic messages . . . distracting.

[Which he probably finds more amusing than he should.]

[alienates]

Hmmm. Hmmmmm.

[ the hmmms are ~ironic~. ]

Okay. I have decided that you are acceptable and I give you approval of your past methods, so congratulations.

[rebells]

[--that gets a surprised laugh out of him.]
