Mingle: For a limited time only...

Who: Everyone!
Where: Anywhere on the hub
When: Days 134-139
Open/Closed: Open mingle goooo!

[Copper, lizards, and vines - oh my! With the recent installation of 9S and co.'s scanning equipment and the also recent, significantly wetter rainstorms there's quite a lot to check out on the island right now. Plus, the monitor robot still needs a name. You're not going to leave them nameless forever, are you?

Too bad Genette's put out word that everyone's about to be moving location soon. That means these are the last days the coven has for a little while to get everything in order, whether it's to take things to the next destination or to leave them behind. Get your bags packed and your huts cleaned, everyone!]

[note to self take pictures of the inside of small places for Geir]

Oh, yeah, there's tons of room in the mansion. We could stack it up against the walls or something and it wouldn't get in the way; there are a lot of rooms that aren't really used.
rootandbranch: (back to you.)

[personal profile] rootandbranch 2017-11-25 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
Why isn't anyone using them? Isn't that a waste of space?

[he eyes the cord of wood dubiously. it looks like it would be tough to fit through the mansion door, but that doesn't mean it's not the best of the available ideas...]

...if I carried it over, would you help me get it in there?
imsorey: (Don't stop me now)

[personal profile] imsorey 2017-11-27 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I can totally help you get it all inside! I can help carry some too, if you're planning on bringing it in parts.

[he takes a look at how big the pieces of wood are compared to how much he's used to carrying...well, Geir can move much more than he can, but that doesn't mean he can't offer to help out.]

I'm not really sure why no one stays in the mansion, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. Brie has cameras set up all inside so she can watch people when they're in there, and the idea of that might be pretty uncomfortable if you just want a private place to yourself. I'm sure if someone wanted to stay in the mansion they could.
rootandbranch: (wanna see smiles and laughs)

[personal profile] rootandbranch 2017-11-29 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
What's a camera? Don't carry it, but help me get it inside, yeah...

[Geir grabs one of the cords to start them on their journey over. he doesn't think it's worth flying -- they're not that far a walk from the mansion, and it's easier to chat like this. it's been a little while since he's seen Sorey.]
imsorey: (Give yourself out to another)

[personal profile] imsorey 2017-11-30 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[well the last time Geir saw him was quite possibly the awkward nightmare that Sorey doesn't seem to have much desire to bring up of his own volition. he seems better than that time, at least? and he does amiably fall into step next to Geir, walking a little faster to keep up with the dragon's pace. there's still some space between them, but it's shifted from a polite distance to a friendlier one--for the sake of practicality he tends to keep a few feet between himself and Geir, but those feet have turned into inches as he meanders and talks.

his face brightens when he talks about the camera; by way of example he makes two L-shapes with his fingers in order to form a box, a vague attempt to demonstrate to Geir how the camera works.]

A camera is a device that you can use to capture images to show other people. Like a painting of what's in front of you that's finished instantly. It's pretty amazing! I got one when we first arrived here but I didn't know what it was, so I had to ask a few people before I figured it out. I don't have it with me right now, but if you want to see it then I can grab it later. It's great for documenting places that you've been and things you've seen.
rootandbranch: (you're here; and that means so much)

[personal profile] rootandbranch 2017-12-06 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! I would like to see... "technology" is really interesting!

[he'll have to ask Nines about cameras. he's sure the android would know about them, and have some kind of story or opinion.

he's less sure of how to approach Sorey and the question of how OK he is, but he's reassured by how easily he falls into step and shows enthusiasm about the piece of equipment, at least. maybe things are okay...? it's been a month, after all.]

I just show people memories sometimes when I want them to see something. Qri's head-talking is good for that.

Sending images like that works great too! They don't last as long, but it's a nice way to share information. There are plenty of things here that are pretty convenient, it makes me not mind spending time here to learn about them.
rootandbranch: (lost; am i broken?)

[personal profile] rootandbranch 2017-12-10 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Really, you don't mind? You're nearly the first person who I've heard say that...

[there's a certain amount of lightheartedness in Geir's voice, but Sorey's commentary does make him think more of the serious side of them being here, and there's a question in the statement even if Geir's inflection doesn't show it. is that really how Sorey feels about being away from his world?]
imsorey: (No matter how much it hurts)

[personal profile] imsorey 2017-12-10 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Sort of. Some days.

[he gives a little shrug; articulating it and encompassing every feeling is tricky. but since he knows Geir wouldn't ask if he didn't want to know, he takes more time to mull it over]

Since we're here and there's nothing we can do about it at the moment I don't want to spend all of my energy being angry and upset about it. I can take this opportunity to learn about all sorts of things I couldn't back on my world. There's a lot of information that I can take from here and bring back to my world in order to help it; there's no way I'm going to take that for granted.

But...I have something important that I have to do back home, too, and I'm worried about how things are doing while I'm not there. So I still want to get home as soon as possible. I'm just trying to stay positive about what I can and can't do.
rootandbranch: (back to you.)

[personal profile] rootandbranch 2017-12-12 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Do you need a lot of help at home?

[Geir mulls that one over; he did offer to help Jay already. he wonders what the situations of all the different coven members are; it's not like he can personally go and stop a war for each of them, but maybe if the coven pools their resources...]
imsorey: (Go love to love)

[personal profile] imsorey 2017-12-12 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[he's more or less on the same line of thought; his mouth quirks up a bit at the thought of bringing a dragon home to help...purify...more dragons...]

I wouldn't be opposed to help, but I don't know if it's something that more people can help out with. I was working to purify the land when I was brought here. So it's more that I just need to finish doing that when I get back, but it's hard to say if things have gotten worse while I've been here.
rootandbranch: (tread until my blood is in the road)

[personal profile] rootandbranch 2017-12-12 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Geir certainly has the enthusiasm for it, though he's still malevolent as heck, so maybe it wouldn't work out.]

I met a troll girl recently who said that where she's from, different universes aren't connected to each other by time. So maybe you can just go back to whenever you left. But I don't understand why having more people wouldn't help.
imsorey: (Scrape and scratch my heart)

[personal profile] imsorey 2017-12-12 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[the malevolence part is the concerning part, it would be awkward to accidentally bring back the next Lord of Calamity or something]

Well...I told you a little bit about malevolence, right? It's not something that you can completely get rid of, but it's gotten out of control where I'm from. We're...trying to bring it down to a manageable level, you could say. The only way to deal with it is to purify it, and as far as I know only a Shepherd can purify malevolence. So having more people won't necessarily help to purify the malevolence in the land.

I won't say that it's impossible. If anything, I've learned that things people have told me aren't possible are actually possible as long as you can find a way. But I haven't thought of a way to make that work.

[personal profile] rootandbranch 2017-12-12 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Geir can't help but think of the dream, with Sorey holding up the roof on his own...]

Why can only the Shepherd purify malevolence?
