[9S folds his arms across his chest with a hum]

Sounds like it refers to manufacture. Probably the name of an organization, in that case.
oneandmikleonly: (her name is aphrodite.)

What were they doing all the way up here, I wonder? There's signs of habitation all over this island, come to think of it, but Brie and Genette were definitely the only ones here when the first round of our current group came in...

Maybe the unnatural state of this place is the result of some kind of conflict, or major event. If that's the case, this could the a fraction of a more...well. Complete world.

[Because a hunk of land floating in the middle of space should be impossible here]
oneandmikleonly: (remind me of swimming.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-11-28 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
[hm.]

It could also be borrowing smaller pieces from a lot of world and holding them together in the form of this island. That would explain why everything's so...patchwork...our findings, the geography...

You think Qri can do something like that?

[It sounds...kind of disturbing, actually]
oneandmikleonly: (calmer ocean or a sun.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-11-28 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems easier than it would be to bring us here, actually...land doesn't really object if it's pulled from where it's supposed to be.

[personal profile] deem 2017-11-28 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe not, but...what about the people who lived on it?

[This banner, at the least, says that there were people around]
oneandmikleonly: (night is all we have.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-11-28 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[oh shit he's right

he can't help but stare out at the weird space expanse around them; they've got a REALLY GOOD VIEW]

...I hope she warned them first.

[he really does not want to think about their host dragging the island here through empty, airless space -- however many pieces it might have been in -- with people still on it.]
deem: (turn)

[personal profile] deem 2017-11-28 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully, although...the house I've been renovating looked like it had been pretty lived-in at one point.

[And so he's not sure. But then, he didn't have much faith in Qri to begin with and his doubts only grow at times like these]

Not something we can change, but maybe we can gather more intel.
oneandmikleonly: (formed a tiger's eye.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-12-05 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
[bobs his head towards the scannerbot]

I'm sure that will help significantly. It'll give us continuity, at least, rather than any monitoring being interrupted for months at at time when we have to go wander another world.

Pods are pretty handy for that. Even better if you've got a whole network of them, since they can compare their data and help each other learn...but it's a start.

[He only hopes it'll function the way they need it to]
oneandmikleonly: (evaporate.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-12-13 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
How durable is it...? Should we be thinking about building it some kind of shelter too, in case it storms again, or...some other weird weather?

[with the way the island acts, he doesn't put it past it to literally rain cats and dogs at some point.]
deem: (say)

[personal profile] deem 2017-12-13 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It should be alright, as long as it isn't struck by lightning...or attacked by some intelligent opponent.

[Animals aren't much of a risk here, but with the improvised materials they've had to use, the concern isn't at all misplaced]

We could identify safe areas that it could retreat to, and provide it with that data.
oneandmikleonly: (footprints make you follow.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-12-19 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we don't know who or what will descend while we're out...

[hmmm]

There's the caves in the crags, some of them go pretty deep...or, actually, mightn't it go over the edge of the island to hide if it has to? There's no air there, but it doesn't need to breathe...
deem: (box)

[personal profile] deem 2017-12-21 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's a possibility too, although... Do we know how far it can go before leaving whatever gravitational pull this landmass has?

[He's not even sure what forces are at play in this place, and that's concerning]

We might want to provide it with more data on that before we go, if we can.
oneandmikleonly: (need a little time.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-12-21 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I can answer that one, actually, or part of it.

[makes a face; it's not the most pleasant memory]

The gravity stops holding almost immediately once you cross the edge of the top of the island. So it needs to be able to propel itself in that situation, or hang onto the rock.
deem: (say)

[personal profile] deem 2017-12-23 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
That...sounds like it could be trouble.

[Especially with none of them there to retrieve it, should the pod stray too far]

This place really doesn't make much sense at all.
oneandmikleonly: (but where does it come from.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2017-12-27 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
It can't propel itself that well in that sort of environment after all, huh? Then it'll need to stay on the island surface...

[sighs]

Tell me about it. I've been in ruins boobytrapped roof to basement, and they felt more predictable than this.
deem: (say)

[personal profile] deem 2017-12-31 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
They're not intended for anything like space travel, although with the right materials, we could change that.

[They're just so limited around here]

But there were that many traps in ruins, and they were still operable?
oneandmikleonly: (flotsam junk will do just fine.)

[personal profile] oneandmikleonly 2018-01-03 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. The ancients really built to last, and some of the artes you find in ruins at home are extremely powerful. I wish I could do things like that, but most of the records of how have been lost...
deem: (turn)

[personal profile] deem 2018-01-07 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's something you could figure out, with enough data. I think it'd be pretty fun, actually.
