[So maybe you were invited along on this expedition by Jay or a friend. Maybe you heard a telepathic message a couple days ago looking for people with scouting and mapping skills and answered the call. Maybe you just happened to be in the area. Whatever the reason, there's a small group of people and dragons assembling on the beach near the huts, and Jay appears to be in the center of it, checking that everyone he's expecting is accounted for.

They'll be going by air to map the near western coastline and circling back around to camp, touching down every so often to look for landmarks and other potentially useful areas on the way. You're welcome to come along, if you can bargain yourself space on dragonback.]

That's the nice thing about flying. At least you still have that here, even if your water powers don't work.

You don't have to if you don't want to. I've gotten some value out of being able to take this form, though, and out of being brought away from home, so -- I guess I want to try and focus on the positives of the situation.

Hahaha, I know what you mean. I'm the same -- you're just being nicer about it than me.

[he doesn't seem too bothered about it! he does pull his head out from the crashing water, though; he can feel a fish bumping into him curiously and he wants a tiny Goldfish snack.]

[lets him go, putting his chin down on the ledge again; he intends to stay here until the group wants to move on.]

[chuckles to himself and catches a fish for Mikleo too, just in case. he doesn't shove his head back in the waterfall, but he does lapse back into telepathy, sending an image of the fish:]

You want one too?

Oh--thanks, but no thanks. I don't have much taste for raw food, I'm afraid. You're very fast to be able to nab them in the water...

You're missing out! You've got the teeth for them now.

[he eats them both, though. waste not, want not.]

Yeah, I'm really quick.

[and a little smug.]

It just feels weird.

[he's smiling, though, at least internally; it's pretty clear in his voice]

You're fast in the air, too; I saw how you went up when we were going after the Uvi those times.

[hmmm, possibly catching MORE tiny fish is the best use of the rest of this rest stop.]

I wanted to ask you again now that we're not in moving chairs -- do you mind showing me how to fly better? I have the basics down, and I improved during all that going up the ocean in Aimintas, but it's obvious I've got a long way to go.

Oh, sure. It'd be nice to have someone else to fly with here.

[the thought gives Geir a little lift of pleasure; it's not like he's got someone riding on him all the time, and he's never been in a position to fly with someone before all this ferrying people around.]

I don't know if you'll be as fast as me, but I can tell you what I do, anyway. Want me to give you a few tips while we keep flying today?
