[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

[Jake thinks about his task again. Increase the probability of finding strange items in three other newbie's pockets. What counts as a strange item, though? He wonders what will happen if he's just vague about it. That kind of sounds fun actually.

So, as he walks or stands close to your character, he tries just that. The vague notion of increasing the likelihood of making something weird appear in their pocket right now.]

Um, did anything happen...? [It's mostly to himself but it's loud enough to be heard while close.]

[Ryoji looks over at Jake, apparently having heard him.] Are you practicing? ...Was something in particular supposed to happen?

[....he does put his hand in his pocket, though, and to his surprise he pulls out some weird contraption.]

[Jake's eyes light up.]

It worked! [He's so glad.] Um, yes, that's what I'm doing. Though... I don't know what that gadget is. It looks like a toy maybe?

Oh! Can you make things appear? [In... pockets? Huh.] I'm not sure either. I've never seen anything like it.

Umm, not quite? I can, um... increase the probability of something happening. So, um, my task was to increase the probability of an odd item appearing in someone's pocket. And that sure is odd! I'm not sure how you use it.

[dangerouslyinlove]

Oh, wow. That's a really interesting power! [It sounds pretty cool, even though Ryoji's still examining the device. On a whim, he flicks it and it spins around.] It spins!

[potentite]

[His eyes widen a little.] Oh! Well what do you know, it does. It spins pretty fast, too! That's neat.

It is! I'm still not sure what it's for, though... [But it is pretty fun to just spin it.]

[potentite]

I think as long as a toy is fun, that's good enough, right?

True! [Ryoji smiles, offering it out to him.] Do you want it? Since, technically you made it show up...

Oh no no! Consider it a gift? Since it's something that isn't actually too odd.

[rebells]

Hmm?

[Jay is standing to the side of the crowd on the beach, a put-out expression on his face as he scans the people gathered there for--something, it's not entirely clear. He's not unhappy--or rather, less displeased than he could be--to be interrupted, though.]

. . . well, what were you hoping would happen?

[Oh. Right, he realises he should actually say that.]

Oh, um, well! I was hoping... that something might appear in your pocket?

[rebells]

In my pocket?

[That's random enough to startle him out of his funk. He reaches into the pocket of his shorts and pulls out . . . a pamphlet???]

This certainly wasn't in here before . . . "Have you heard the good news?"

[Jake cocks his head, curious.]

Good news? [He comes closer, wanting to take a peek.] What kind of good news? I always like good news.

[rebells]

[He flips it open and thumbs through it. IT SURE IS A PAMPHLET FROM A PEST CONTROL AGENCY ABOUT HOW YOU CAN FIND THE LIGHT OF JESUS.]

. . . It appears to be some sort of religious document. The good news pertains to your impending salvation.

[This is said very dryly.]

[That is. Something. Jake has not been exposed to this sort of thing before. He's seen odd religious types in movies before but that's different.]

Golly, that's... pretty silly sounding. [Look, he's a god from a universe that involves world ending video games. Normal religious worries sound weird?] I don't think it'll do us much good around here.

[rebells]

No. I'm not an expert, but I don't think most religions have accounted for the possibility of magical world-hopping kidnappings. An unfortunate oversight, really.

[potentite]

I guess even I didn't think of it, so that's fair enough. [Like he's not surprised, he just didn't think of it despite the bullshit of his life.] I feel a mite bit bad that their scope was so limited but ah well. At least my power worked!

[rebells]

Your power . . . is to make religious paraphernalia appear in people's pockets?

[potentite]

Oh goodness no! It's, um, increasing the probability of an outcome! In this case, um, I was wrangling for an odd outcome and that was indeed queer.

[Normally, Jotaro wouldn't dignify that with an answer. Dude's clearly talking to himself about whatever he's supposed to be doing for training, so it's none of Jotaro's business beyond the actual demonstration and whatever entertainment value is found therein.

However! Just as Jake speaks, the contents of Jotaro's inner jacket pocket shift against his chest for no reason, and that is suspicious as shit. He reaches into his pocket without a word, feeling around carefully for anything that doesn't belong, and pulls out a necklace with a glowing green pendant that kinda looks like a grenade with crocodiles on it. It's nothing he's ever seen before, which means...]

Hey. This belong to you?

[Jake looks up when he's addressed and looks at it curiously. It must have just appeared in his pocket, which means... technically, he guesses?]

Um, kind of! I was... trying to use my new, um, magic? It looks like it worked! What a queer piece of jewelry though.

["Kind of" is close enough, so Jotaro holds the necklace out for its almost-owner to take.]

What's your power, reverse pickpocketing? [That wouldn't explain, like, most of what Jake just said, but deducing magical abilities isn't in Jotaro's skill set just yet so he's going for what sounds cool.]

[That sounds really cool and he kind of wishes it was that now.]
