[OPENING] island hub - day 1
Who: All Characters
Where: Main Hub
When: Day 1
Open/Closed: Open to All

TDM threads can be considered canon if you so choose, they contain the power that you apped with and both parties confer that the thread is canon.
For characters that were on the TDM and who were not accepted/didn't app, these characters will be considered dropped characters that were magicked away.

Where: Main Hub
When: Day 1
Open/Closed: Open to All

Night has fallen upon everyone. It's thus far been an eventful day -- you've met some new people, discovered some new aspects of yourself that weren't there before you appeared here (however that might have happened). The original inhabitants of the island have been working hard to prepare a few things. One activity might have been one you were a part of, but there's still time to get your hands dirty.
Post feasting, there are dozens of crabs and a pile of roasted boar meet that are up for eating. Even if you didn't offer to help in making any of the food, they're open to eat it -- even if the true helpers may give you dirty looks. The boar is fine, if not a little bland and chewy, but it's probably better than the jerky. The crab is delicious, if not a little tasteless...there problem with the crab isn't exactly the taste, though.
This may also cause a bit of an issue with your character's powers. They're still getting physically and mentally acclimated to these new changes, so expect their telepathy and magic to go a little haywire. |

It's almost completely dark outside when the next event of the evening happens. You're living your life when you see it out of the corner of your eye -- it's absolutely hard to miss. What you see is a large lit caravan, larger than even an army tank. It's bright white and shining, covered with golden, ornate details that emanate an even more dazzling sparkle. The entire thing is aglow, and it's quickly coming towards the large bonfire that's been made. It's not rolling across the sand, but instead it's floating, and so is a matching trunk that's sailing along next to a figure beside the caravan.
There are two other thread options associated with this prompt: Genette's top level and her telepathy training post. Around the same time as Genette is handing out this new little goody bag, you suddenly receive a telepathic message. It might seem a little strange at first -- but on that note, what about tonight isn't strange?
After you've met Genette, she's also got a few more supplies that she pulls out a small door in the base of the caravan. She's insistent that you only get two items, since there aren't exactly a lot of them to go around!

As the night winds down, it's recommended by Brie that you should probably go to be in your hut -- or at the very least get somewhere inside. There are a lot of people around the camp, however, so it's no surprise that there are a few people waiting around to get their fill of food and supplies before heading to bed. The noise of the new members and the light of the fire have attracted a very large pack of boars, who you'll later find make routine trips to the beach every night. Boar mating season has made the wild hogs rather testy, and the smell of food -- even if it's their own boar brethren -- have made them even more volatile.
However, it's not like staying up at night doesn't have its advantages. Once midnight hits, another species of animal makes its regular rounds across the base camp. In the sky, characters can see an Aurora Borealis-like sight. Instead of being dancing green and blue lights, however, the reality is that they are a massive species of space worm, and hundreds are wiggling past on their way to travel back home. They're shimmering and in every color imaginable, lighting up the sky with their magnificent hues.

He's still a bit dizzy from being half-asleep and falling over and--]
No. I don't think I could eat any more crab meat. [so maybe he's a bit out of it... actually, he doesn't know if he'll ever be able to look at crabs the same way after this, even with everything going by ever so slowly, like the world has turned to watercolor] Just-- sleepy.
[There's a great big yawn, like he's already contemplating drifting back off now that the ground is there again. He does scoot a couple inches in, though, obligingly. If Yang's trying to just talk him off the edge that might take a while. And more wiggling.]
You?
[Who knows what question he's trying to ask here.]
no subject
I'm not sure if sleeping on the beach is the best idea...
[Falling off the side notwithstanding, there were the boars to consider.]
Am I sleepy? Hm...no, not really. A lot's happened.
no subject
Still doesn't beat his first day (or night) at Fenrir, but it comes surprisingly close.]
If something attacks, I'll just... [he waves a hand, presumably to demonstrate something, but nothing happens; he looks briefly puzzled but doesn't stop waving at nothing] I'll think of something. I'll be awake.
[That's what they all say. He perks up a little bit, though, as though saying he isn't half-asleep will make it so.]
Because a lot did happen.
no subject
She smirks.]
Oh yeah...you totally look like you could take on a wild boar or two.
[After a good eye roll to show she's being facetious, she holds out a hand.]
I'm Yang by the way. What's your name before I decide to just permanently call you Sleepy.
no subject
If I can't take them on, I can still run fast. If I need to.
[He sounds very slightly indignant about the teasing, even though he's still flopped out spread-eagled not far from where Yang's rough rescue left him. And also like he'd rather not move, so he stares at Yang's outstretched hand for a moment before, very slowly, raising his hand again.
... It's definitely not his usual handshake, but he made it there and that's what counts.]
Lenka. I'm not usually sleepy.
no subject
[Out running them was probably not the best plan in the long run--Yang had a feeling those animals could move. Those tusks didn't look very pleasant either.
She has no idea what to expect from his usual handshake, but it doesn't last long anyway. She leans back when it's over, looking back up at the colorful, misty sky.]
Nice to meet you, Lenka. So you don't sleep much then? I actually used to sleep pretty good...I wonder if I'll be able to sleep better here.
no subject
[It's more rhetorical and thoughtful than anything; his thought process right now is some vague nonsense about it defeating the point of roofs, even if part of him does agree with the practicality. Unless the boars can fly.
He's pretty sure they can't fly.
Yang is still talking, though, so Lenka reluctantly turns his attention back to the small talk of the hour. He manages to miss the pleasantries, though, so right to the main topic it is.]
I sleep. I have to sleep if I want to run and fight. [no comment on sleep quality; he stretches a little, and reaches out a hand to wave it through the worm mist coming down and making lovely patterns] But it's... peaceful here. Right now.
[Relatively speaking, it's almost bizarre.]
no subject
[It's not comfortable from Yang's experience...of course she hasn't had to sleep on many roofs. She watches him draw patterns through the mist before turning her gaze back up to the sky. It's just really weird looking---even before the worms.]
Right now is probably the key word...though it's kinda hard to focus on the bad that might happen. It's just a nice night.
no subject
Right now, everything seems pretty okay. When was the last time it felt like this, being outside?]
Just eating, sleeping, messing around, and waking up again... [it's a dreamy murmur, like he's talking to someone else, or perhaps quoting someone] The night seems longer.
no subject
I think we can count on more happening than that. So better enjoy a night like this while you can.
no subject
[Quite the opposite, honestly; it's something new to him, spending a whole day like this -- he's camped out before, even gotten lost in the wilderness before, but looking over his shoulder only to get nothing for like 24 hours is both novel and kind of tiring, too.
He could get used to it. He's not sure he should.]
I do enjoy it. It's beautiful. [the sky, and the quiet, and even the weird magic] I think...
[He's not sure where he's going with this. He's not sure where they're going with this, but so far they have resources, people and a relatively simple goal. If you kind of gloss over the space-time and world danger motifs. That's enough for him to work with, at least.]
I think this is what a vacation is like.
[Right??]
no subject
The mystery continues when he compares this to a vacation. He must not get away much if he thinks THIS is a vacation.]
Well, there IS a beach...which I guess is a start. I'm not sure if this is exactly a vacation though since usually those aren't against a person's will. Usually there isn't much danger either.
