[OPENING] island hub - day 1
Who: All Characters
Where: Main Hub
When: Day 1
Open/Closed: Open to All

TDM threads can be considered canon if you so choose, they contain the power that you apped with and both parties confer that the thread is canon.
For characters that were on the TDM and who were not accepted/didn't app, these characters will be considered dropped characters that were magicked away.

Where: Main Hub
When: Day 1
Open/Closed: Open to All

Night has fallen upon everyone. It's thus far been an eventful day -- you've met some new people, discovered some new aspects of yourself that weren't there before you appeared here (however that might have happened). The original inhabitants of the island have been working hard to prepare a few things. One activity might have been one you were a part of, but there's still time to get your hands dirty.
Post feasting, there are dozens of crabs and a pile of roasted boar meet that are up for eating. Even if you didn't offer to help in making any of the food, they're open to eat it -- even if the true helpers may give you dirty looks. The boar is fine, if not a little bland and chewy, but it's probably better than the jerky. The crab is delicious, if not a little tasteless...there problem with the crab isn't exactly the taste, though.
This may also cause a bit of an issue with your character's powers. They're still getting physically and mentally acclimated to these new changes, so expect their telepathy and magic to go a little haywire. |

It's almost completely dark outside when the next event of the evening happens. You're living your life when you see it out of the corner of your eye -- it's absolutely hard to miss. What you see is a large lit caravan, larger than even an army tank. It's bright white and shining, covered with golden, ornate details that emanate an even more dazzling sparkle. The entire thing is aglow, and it's quickly coming towards the large bonfire that's been made. It's not rolling across the sand, but instead it's floating, and so is a matching trunk that's sailing along next to a figure beside the caravan.
There are two other thread options associated with this prompt: Genette's top level and her telepathy training post. Around the same time as Genette is handing out this new little goody bag, you suddenly receive a telepathic message. It might seem a little strange at first -- but on that note, what about tonight isn't strange?
After you've met Genette, she's also got a few more supplies that she pulls out a small door in the base of the caravan. She's insistent that you only get two items, since there aren't exactly a lot of them to go around!
|

As the night winds down, it's recommended by Brie that you should probably go to be in your hut -- or at the very least get somewhere inside. There are a lot of people around the camp, however, so it's no surprise that there are a few people waiting around to get their fill of food and supplies before heading to bed. The noise of the new members and the light of the fire have attracted a very large pack of boars, who you'll later find make routine trips to the beach every night. Boar mating season has made the wild hogs rather testy, and the smell of food -- even if it's their own boar brethren -- have made them even more volatile.
However, it's not like staying up at night doesn't have its advantages. Once midnight hits, another species of animal makes its regular rounds across the base camp. In the sky, characters can see an Aurora Borealis-like sight. Instead of being dancing green and blue lights, however, the reality is that they are a massive species of space worm, and hundreds are wiggling past on their way to travel back home. They're shimmering and in every color imaginable, lighting up the sky with their magnificent hues.

[ So Sora's been through a bit with his magic already, which happens to be a small floating ball of light he can create and control, with the properties of a fire. Upon learning it's there quite a bit earlier, he'd been a little too curious and ... burned himself on it, creating some minor burn marks on his fingers but it's fine. And then he'd managed to help a bit with lighting the fire for cooking the food. Maybe you saw him, cautiously moving his little ball of light towards the wood because he'd already burned himself on it and that wasn't going to happen again.
And now he can finally eat, trying out the crab here. Which seems like a good idea at first, until he starts feeling a bit sick a little ways into it, swaying a bit and having trouble keeping his vision straight, as he puts a hand to his forehead. ] Ugh ... I don't feel so good.
[ This is the perfect time for the fire being used to cook to blow out, and when there are only a few things left to cook, too. He vaguely hears someone asking for help re-lighting it, and up he goes, unable to resist helping out. ]
H-Hold on, I got it.
[ Spoilers: No, he doesn't. Because the moment he tries to use his magic, it materializes in an awkward, sparking manner rather than smoothly, and before he can get it to reach the fire, he's suddenly falling backwards from the sickness and the ball of light is going whatever way his fingers accidentally move it. Try not to touch it. ]
e;
[ Sora looks like a kid in a candy shop at all the interesting items laid out before him. He doesn't even know what to pick up first. Some he recognizes as normal items, but most he has no idea what they even are. His lips mime a 'whoa' at all of it as he leans in. (He can't help it, it all looks so cool.)
But eventually he leans back, crossing his arms. He doesn't have Donald or Goofy (mostly Donald) here to give him important advice, so he'll just have to do it himself! Talking to himself now. ]
Wait, this all looks really cool and all, but I should probably pick something that'll be useful. [ That's something Donald would want him to do, right? And he moves his gaze back toward the items — some of them look so cool, how can he pass up getting one of them in favor of something practical?
Wait she said two items, right? It can't hurt to get one fun one and one practical one then, can it ... ]
f;
[ Okay so Sora stayed out a little too late, curiously looking around the area and such. And this will be immediately apparent to someone who is already safely within their home, because they're going to suddenly hear a large bang on their wall — as though something rammed into it from the outside.
And then a muffled shout also coming from the outside. ] Whoa, hey! What was that for?!
[ Okay so Sora is being charged at by a boar and he managed to get out of the way of that charge and it hit your house, whoops. ]
wildcard;
[ Feel free to come up with something or ping me at
.......f
so akira heads outside, rubbing at his eyes, glasses slightly pitched up his forehead as he does so. ]
I didn't think I scheduled a wake-up call ... [ such deadpan. ]
sorry akira
Sora quickly turns to face him, looking and sounding apologetic. ] Uh, sorry! [ Even if it is the boar's fault here.
But he looks back at the boar, now circling back around to come at Sora again. And he doesn't even have his Keyblade to do anything about it.
This stranger's safety comes first here, though, so, he shouts again: ] You should get back inside! Hurry!
[ Because the boar has finished its big ol' turn and is now heading back towards them again. Maybe Akira will notice it. ]
no subject
Uh.
[ his usual instincts are delayed due to his grogginess and oh, right, the boar is about to charge. that's an even bigger problem. awareness floods through him once again and he quickly reaches to grab the stranger's wrist to drag them both inside. ]
Quick.
[ a boar can't knock it down. can it? can it? ]
no subject
[ And thus, he's pulled inside. Once the door's closed and he's regained his bearings from the sudden being dragged inside, he can't help but speak up: ]
Thanks, but don't you think it'll be able to —
[ Is that a loud thud on the door? Yes. It doesn't knock it down but it sure is startling. ]
no subject
...You think he wants to come in?
[ he says it in deadpan, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. apparently it's not enough of a joke to set his hand on fire thank god. ]
Maybe it'll get tired.
no subject
Uh, yeah. Maybe. [ And then another thud, showing there is still clearly a lot of energy left in that thing. ] But it might take a while. [ A pause. ] How strong do you think that door is?

e!
It's hard to pick, isn't it? I've always wanted one of these — [she picks up an iPod, turning it over in her hand to show it to him.]
no subject
But he looks over at her when she picks up that iPod, curiously. ] Huh? One of those? [ No iPods where he's from, so. ] What is it?
no subject
[Madoka plugs in a pair of headphones and offers them to Sora. please enjoy the first song she hits play on.]
no subject
He brings the headphones to his ears, curious to see what happens. If a little thing like this is going to play music, then heck yeah he wants to hear what it plays. That sounds so cool.
Unfortunately, the song Madoka's chosen starts so suddenly and so loudly that it startles him, and he quickly pulls away, still with the headphones on his head, and ends up pulling them out and cutting off the music. Whoops. ] Whoa!
—Er, sorry. [ For pulling them out and probably looking like an idiot in the process. He'll move to plug them back in. ] But you weren't kidding. They really did play music. [ Just a little too loudly and suddenly, he guesses. Regardless, he sounds amazed anyway! ]
no subject
[Madoka had managed to hold on to the iPod when Sora pulled away — she sets it back down on the display, a bit sheepish, but also encouraged by his amazement.]
[what sort of world would this be if they didn't have a way to enjoy music, after all? and music is so important to so many of her friends, Madoka can't help but treasure it even more.]
Maybe there's another one here that has something better? What sort of music do you like?
no subject
[ It's not like it made him deaf, it was just startling.
But her question is a hard one for him to answer, and he crosses his arms in thought. ] Huh. I dunno. I haven't really thought about it. [ It's not like he's had too much experience with music, but he has sung with a mermaid ...... ] I'll probably know when I hear it.

[ like dave is going for a music player and headphones so...
does that count as one thing or two? ]
no subject
A pause, as he looks over to him. ] What're you choosing?
no subject
no subject
So you mean it can't hurt to just pick out fun things here, right?
[ It's not like Sora's ever needed much during his world travels to begin with ... ]
no subject
[ like. they are gonna get BORED otherwise.
well there's an island to explore admittedly but dave likes to do chill things sometimes that aren't exploring? ]

He spots a small, brown wand sitting amongst the electronics, which catches his attention because it's one of the few objects he can recognize as something he knows. He curiously turns it over a few times in front of his face, before noticing a button on it, pushing it, and watching as it lights up various colors and makes blasty sounds. It startles him for a moment and he probably looks like an idiot, but now at least he knows it's not a real wand. This must be why it was with the electronics. ]
Should've seen that coming. [ There's no way they'd just put a real magic wand in with everything. (You already have magic anyway, Sora, geez.) ] I guess this one's a 'no'. [ Tossing it back in the pile of things.
This is going to take forever if he tests all the toys like this. ]

[ He's already eyeing one of those thicker jackets. As nice as his coat is, a spare is always welcome. Though he does pick up a book, cringing slightly at the title before tucking it under his arm anyway.
But then something else catches his eye. It's a small metal object, a sort of propeller. He turns the fidget spinner over in his hand curiously before turning his attention to Sora. ]
I don't suppose you'd know what this is, would you?
no subject
And then his attention is brought to the fidget spinner, and ... welp. ]
Nope, no idea. [ Just gonna throw a random idea out here. ] You think tiny things use it to fly?
[ He thinks it looks like a propeller, too. And it's not like Sora hasn't had experience with smaller creatures. ]
no subject
[ Nothing can surprise him anymore if only because he realized that it was better to expect the unexpected. ]
Our benefactors are quite generous with these "supplies" despite the strange selection.
no subject
They probably just want us to be okay. It's pretty nice of 'em, if you ask me. [ Scanning over everything and letting his voice sound a bit more excited. ] Besides, there's lots of cool stuff here, so we might as well take advantage of it!
no subject
[ But his attention is now on a rather thick bound notebook. That looks useful at least... ]
At least they seem to be willing to own up to bringing us here in the first place. I couldn't fault them for that.
no subject
[ By helping them and helping themselves and ... doing whatever ends up necessary to get back home. ]
