[ There's no response for a few moments as Julius focuses on driving off the Uvi on his particular side; it's only when the fishmen fall completely still does he straighten up. ]

I still can. Though perhaps you shouldn't come too close to me.

[ Not trusting that his voice would hold, he'd opt for telepathy altogether. Given the length of his blade, it would have a wide swing and might hurt an ally. ]

[secrowtary]

Still?

[ Hibiki narrows his eyes, feeling like this single word might be crucial. ]

I would advise you to—

[ Whatever his advice is, he doesn't have the chance to finish as another Uvi group is approaching. ]

Do you think you could break their formation?

[bulletbiter]

Yes. I can't be sure that I won't hit you in the process, please stay back.

[ Julius straightens up and eyes their approaching opponents; there's a good number, but not too many. He may be able to split them and round them up from behind.

Holding that thought in mind, he'll position himself in the middle of the road and wait until the Uvi are within striking distance. Taking a breath, he hefts his blade and dashes forward, swinging the sword in a wide horizontal arc. The Uvi may be able to dodge his swing, but they were unprepared for the countless air blades that manifested behind it. They would bite into flesh with the strength designed to pierce monstrous hide, which should be enough to stagger them for a short while. ]

[secrowtary]

I shall, please don't worry.

[ Getting in Julius' way could have dire consequences and one glance at his greatsword is more than enough to realize that. Hibiki will watch him charge into the group from a safe distance—as long as they're in formation, he won't be able to do much anyway. Single combat, however, is a whole different story. ]

I'll be on your left for a while.

[ How much he wishes he had his swords...alas, the knives he's wielding will have to suffice. Sneaking up on one Uvi after another, he takes them on and inflicts deep cuts on their bodies; during the first very first attack, Hibiki tried to not do them much harm, not knowing the details of the whole conflict. And that was a grave mistake.

Yet, the wounds are by no means fatal. His intention isn't to kill the Uvi, actually, just to force them to retreat. ]

[ Stealth is not something affordable by Julius given the size of his weapon; but this makes them an effective pair. He can hold their attention so that Hibiki takes out those that his sword cannot reach - with two battle-hardened veterans, it's not that hard to drive them away. Or kill them, as often happens when fishmen meet a two-metre long blade.

Though as the fight wears on, the nerves in his hands become progressively more numb. However, his attention is on the Uvi and not his sword; as a result he only notices when the blade slips out of his grasp entirely to impale an Uvi to the floor.

Given that there's another coming up behind him, he has no choice but to drop the blade, spin around, and sock the fishman in the face. ]

[secrowtary]

[ While Hibiki keeps checking on Julius from time to time, it's not something he's used to—having a partner during a fight, that is—so he doesn't realize that something might be wrong until the sword gets dropped. With a swift move, Hibiki pulls out the knife from one of the Uvi's body and ignores another one running in his direction for the time being. Julius can probably do fine on his own without the sword, but given the fact that there's been something going on with his body, Hibiki can't simply turn away from it.

He appears behind the other youth's back and realizes that he has made a right decision. ]

We should retreat for now.

[bulletbiter]

[ The dulled sensations in his hands meant that he fails to register any damage done to them. Maybe the cells still hold fast, as per the Aragami rule that they can only be harmed by one of their number. Regardless, he'll make short work of his opponent by virtue of brute force alone. ]

Yes. We should.

[ There's enough time for him to wrest his blade from the floor, though it feels slippery in his hands. ]

[secrowtary]

You need to see a healer.

[ Painfully aware that he's only stating the obvious, Hibiki bites his lower lip. This isn't the Uvis' doing, right? He hasn't seen anything like it before, and it's not like he sat out the attacks. ]

Unless... [ It occurs to him that he never really asked Julius about his powers or if he even has any except the Qri magic. After taking one more glance at his hands, the thought that it might be an ability is quite terrifying, but he needs to make sure. ] Unless it's your power.

[bulletbiter]

[ He slings the sword up to rest its blunt edge on his shoulder, using it as a brace to lessen the chances of it falling. ]

This can't be healed. It's... something unique to me.

[ The temptation to say 'don't worry about it' is strong, but he knows it'll have the opposite effect. ]

My power has nothing to do with this [ a slight hesitation ] affliction.

[secrowtary]

If it can't be healed...

[ It doesn't look like it's going to disappear by itself, just like that...but on the other hand, what does he possibly know? On top of that, Julius doesn't seem to be too bothered, so perhaps he shouldn't make a fuss either.

Still... ]

Is there anything that can be done?

[bulletbiter]

[ The spider marks meant that the Singularity would try to take over him regardless of what he did; in that case, he might as well try to use it to his advantage. An advantage to help the people.

The last time, it went badly. But that was when he was alone. ]

Fight with me. That is all.

[ As long as he doesn't forget that he was human, he would have better odds of coming out of it in one piece. ]

[secrowtary]

[ What Julius asks for isn't too much—it's what they've been doing for a while now, after all. Which is a bit puzzling given the circumstances, but— ]

Alright.

[ Hibiki would like to ask if he's absolutely sure that's enough, but at the same time...why wouldn't Julius be sure? ]

We can use the strategy from before, I suppose.

[bulletbiter]

We could. I'm used to bearing the brunt of opponents' attacks.

[ So in this way, they make a good team. And he really doesn't mind, if it helps another shine ]
