I don't mind. At least you haven't told me I can't exist or anything.

[Because that's the most delightful sort of debate to get into...especially with members of a race he's inclined to obey. Thankfully that hasn't been a common reaction in his experience thus far.

If anything most people are more accepting than he'd expect, when they aren't familiar even with the notion of androids]

Not to much see as sense him, I guess. I'm a Scanner, so I can pick up on readings like body temperature, and I can tell where he is that way. [And sort of see him, after a fashion. 9S raises a hand and taps the air, holographic screens springing to life in front of him] But if I filter light just right, then I can.

[He pokes a small node on one of those screens, pulling up a picture of Mikleo he's recorded. All of his memories exist as files, so it's a simple matter to display one]

[his eyes widen at the holographic screen, fascinated by it and the picture of Mikleo that springs up as a result.]

That's incredible! I knew that technology could manage things like this, but I never imagined it would be like—

[he pauses and just gestures with the hand that isn't holding the module, momentarily at a loss. when he finds his voice again he's excited, words tumbling over each other in his haste to get them all out.]

If you can create something like this, then in theory it's possible for anyone to see the seraphim, regardless of whether or not they have the natural ability to do so. I would have never thought of trying something like this. Is it possible to replicate what you see, how you see it?

[Sorey's ability to see people like Mikleo must be pretty rare, if he's getting this excited. 9S remembers the surprised response he got when he tested his theory out, though at the time he thought it was simply a shortcoming in his own design. Or, at least, that some could see him and others couldn't.

Seraphim...it's a new term. Is that what part-time dragons are called?]

I think it's just that they fall out of the visible spectrum, and it looks like that's how it works...or at least the method I used supports that. [He pokes at the screen between them] So I was thinking, it should be as simple as manipulating light the right way.

[Just like water being visible due to reflection and refraction. Seems pretty straightforward to him, for all that it's something he hasn't encountered with a person before]

With the right supplies, I could make something that he could use to bend the light around him... Then anybody ought to see him.

[although he understands the concepts in theory, the actual application sounds like something that would be beyond Sorey on his own. but he isn't deterred, especially when 9S sounds like he could pull it off.]

Well, if you don't mind giving it a try when we're finished with this mess, you can consider me at your disposal to help. We don't have a lot of technological advancements where I'm from, but I'm willing to do whatever I can to put this theory into practice. It's something I've been wanting to do since Mikleo and I were kids.

It's really not common for people to see him, huh...?

[That's a sad thought, when Mikleo's such a nice guy. He's glad that he had someone like Sorey around, who shared his interests and could see him even if others couldn't. He can imagine that would be an immense comfort, under those circumstances.

Since his test worked, he's sure he can do something. It's just a matter of developing an apparatus that would be convenient to use and power]

After things've settled, think you could tell me about how magic works where you're from? If it could be used as an energy source, it's possible that something could be powered that way. I don't think it'd take much.

I'd be glad to! Mikleo and I have a pact too, so if there's any way to use that as an energy source then I'd be more than happy to try.

[not that he needs people poking around at that pact, but if it lets everyone see Mikleo then he's willing to try just about anything.]

It...means a lot just to have a way to try. I don't want to let that pass us by.

A pact? Can't say I've heard of something like that...but I can ask you when we've got less to deal with. And Mikleo's got his own magic too, right?

[He can imagine that it'll be pretty involved, especially since he doesn't know much at all about magic.

These guys really do seem like family... 9S would be just as eager to help 2B, so he can understand]

We'll figure it out. Just a matter of implementation.

If we're comparing, he's got more magic than I do. I'm pretty much just a normal human. But, uh--where would you like me to put this?

[he holds up the module, his expression sheepish for letting himself get distracted in the middle of an attack. they've got better things to do and he knows it.]

If you need help with some of those, just point me in the direction you need me to be and I can get there.

Maybe something that could be passively charged then...

[Said more to himself than to Sorey really, but 9S always was good at getting himself distracted.

Still, they've got business to attend to. He points to a shop just across the avenue]

This one goes over there, it's one of the designated evacuation points for this area. Right by the door should be good... Any of the larger structures, we want one of these at the doorway.

[Sorey files the comment away for later and after taking a quick look around to make sure that there are no Uvi ready to sneak up on them, he darts across the avenue to place the module by the door as indicated. he does a check to make sure that it's active before making his way back, eying the pile of them that 9S still has.]

If you've got more of these I can take them to a few other spots too.

[9S looks down at the bundle of modules, then back up at Sorey]

If you're sure you wouldn't mind... I can give you some of these, and show you where I'm getting them from.

[It'd be easier with less of a heap of gadgets on his hands, since he can pull up a map of the city without much fuss. All it'll require is a tap at the air]

[nodding, quick and eager]

I'd rather help than stand around wondering what I should be doing. I want to be able to protect these people and their homes, especially after all they've done for us.

[In this moment, he's reminded strongly of Flynn.

Maybe Sorey's a knight too then. It'd make sense, he thinks. And he remembers Mikleo mentioning how this guy's presence was important to their world, as well...

He hands over some of the modules, then pokes the air in front of him to pull up a holographic screen, displaying a map of the city]

There's a cache of these in this storage facility.

[He points at a building some ways down the main thoroughfare]

[he carefully cradles the modules in his arms and stares at the map for a minute to memorize the route to the storage facility, nodding once he's done]

It looks simple enough to get to. I'm on it! Shall we divide and conquer?

[He nods]

Yeah, it should be. [Although he's so accustomed to trekking back and forth by now, he doesn't even have to think about it. In any case—] Thanks for the help, it should be more efficient this way.
