[after she's helped clear out the latest wave of attacking Uvi, and after Jude has treated what he could, Madoka settles herself down next to Haru, and reaches for her hand. she hates seeing her friends injured so, so much.]

Haru-san ... Are you all right?

[mapsio]

Madoka-chan...

[She frowns, knowing that seeing her in rough shape must be hard on Madoka. But she needed to help fight. She needed to help the Palai. She's going to take MAdoka's hand, squeezing it in reassurance.]

I'm going to be okay, I promise.

[soulcomet]

[she understands — it's the same reason she keeps getting back up, why she keeps venturing out past the relative safety of their camp to find more people who need help. as long as she can continue moving, continue doing something to help, she can't bring herself to stop.]

[and comforting the injured, no matter how painful it might be for her ... it's something she agreed to do, when she agreed to help Jude out.]

Would you like for me to stay with you for a while?

[mapsio]

I would like that. It would make me feel better.

[As it stands, Haru isn't feeling so hot right now. She wishes she could do more than sit here.]

I apologize if this concerns you. I didn't mean to.

Please don't apologize ... I'm just glad that I'm able to be here for you — and that you were able to help everyone out.

[her smile is a reassuring, if tired, one.]

Do you want to talk? Or, I could just talk for a while, if you'd prefer that.

[mapsio]

[Madoka is saying a lot of the same things Jude was, and for that she is thankful. The constant reminder that she didn't fail, that she didn't put anyone in harm's way. She feels bad for not being able to finish the job... but she needed to know what it was time to quit.]

I think I would prefer to hear you talk for now, is that okay?

Absolutely! [she pauses for a minute, thinking.]

Ah! I could talk about what I do for the gardening club at school ... or, I have a few funny stories about my little brother that you might like.

[mapsio]

Can I hear both? You can start with either one.

[She's going to shift, turning her body just slightly so that she can give Madoka her full attention.]

Okay! Well, my little brother's name is Tatsuya ... he's three! And he's such a handful.

Tatsuya really likes tomatoes — and my papa has a big tomato bush outside in his vegetable garden. Not too long ago, I woke up in the morning and found that he had gotten into my paint set that I kept in the closet in my room.

[hang on, she's already giggling a little at the memory.]

And there was this trail of green paint leading outside to the tomato bush ... Tatsuya had somehow managed to get green paint all in his hair, and red paint everywhere else, and had started to dig a hole in the garden — when Papa came in and asked him what he was doing, he said that he was planting himself because he wanted to be a tomato.

I wish I could show you the pictures, Haru-san ... But now I have to keep my paints high up where he can't reach.

[mapsio]

Oh goodness, he does sound like quite the little handful.

[She's smiling softly, and almost fondly. She doesn't have siblings of her own, so... it's nice to hear about other people's loved ones.]

He was taking "you are what you eat" to a new level, don't you think?

He really was! It's never a dull moment at home with Tatsuya around ... he always manages to surprise you with the things he comes up with.

[Madoka's smile is a touch wistful.]

It's been really fun to watch him grow up so far.

[mapsio]

Hearing about your sibling makes me smile. Family is really important, isn't it?

[Haru seems really interested too. It's just...nice.]

I think so!

[she pats Haru's hand gently.]

I think friends are just as important, too ... they're just an extension of our families, right?

[mapsio]

My friends are very much like my family. I promised to tell you about them.... right? I could tell you right now.

[Because Haru counts herself as having the best friends in the world sometimes. Even if they don't always agree on everything.]

I'd love that! I mean — if you're up to it, Haru-san.

[mapsio]

Of course. Well, there is our fearless leader...Akira-kun. He's sort of the glue to our bonds. It's funny how one person could be daring in one moment and be completely caring the next.

He's an all around good friend.

[She smiles a little.]

I could tell you about Ann-chan and Ryuji-kun too if you like.

[soulcomet]

I'd like that — they're all on the superhero team with you?

[mapsio]

[Her lips turn up into a smile.]

We're the Phantom Thieves, but, yes. Ann-chan is a really gorgeous model. Ryuji-kun is just a really good friend... Ann-chan is actually here. Ryuji-kun is still at home.

[soulcomet]

Really? I'd love to meet her sometime.

I'd like for you to meet some of my friends, too ... Homura-chan can be really serious, but she's one of the best friends I've ever had. And Sayaka-chan never fails to make me laugh!

[mapsio]

I hope you do get to meet her soon. She's fun to talk to and fun to be around.

I would love to meet your friends too. I'm sure they're all wonderful.

[Haru is definitely smiling again.]
