[The Palai…were exhausting after a while, but all the same John couldn't help but find them amusing and want to help them out. He was fairly used to lizards and their ridiculous requests by this point (thank you, consorts) and it's the only reason he finds himself outside with what looks like a bunch of fruit juice and dye.

Picking up a piece of paper, he eyes it critically before looking back at the other members of his new group. Madhuri gets a look of recognition and there's a grin for both of them. This should be fine. The three of them could…probably…figure this out.]

Do you think it's just because the Palai don't know how to hold paint brushes? [What other explanation would there be?]

Hey, you're makin' it sound all weird! We're just workin' as a team. Like you did back home, right?

[Unfortunately, when you were covered in fur that tended to soak up the paint not unlike a brush, even fingerpainting was a bit of a... messy ordeal. Especially when some of the sweeter stuff was all... sticky.]

b'sides, doesn't exactly add up if there's three of us. They just need an extra paw to get the job done.

[And a cheery little pawprint stamp in the corner of the sign to act as a signature. Or maybe to distract from his chicken-scratch handwriting.]

[Picking up what looks like a blueberry (he has a particular color scheme he's attached to, after all), he's starting to doodle on the paper even as the berry gets kind of squished and messes up his lines.]

They really like everything in threes, even if I do not entirely understand why. But if they want us to blend in with their society while we're here I guess that would be fine. They haven't been giving you guys more trouble since we got here, have they?

[She sighed.] Nearly every waking hour. But you have to endure if you want any information from them.

That Uvi stuff? Wow. You'd think they'd be at the top of the food chain, but it appears not to be the case.

[She peeked.]

Ooh! Red, dear- Would you mind slathering on some blackberries and putting those paw prints on my canvas? I have a sudden rush of inspiration!

If they wanted us to blend in so badly, they could start by not always treatin' us like outsiders. even if we are.

And it's even worse when you get in the water. You'd think they'd never seen anyone who didn't have scales before. [It's not HIS fault he's not the best swimmer. Or that water didn't exactly just glide right off of fur after he'd stepped out.] 'least you've got a head start on that, Maddie.

[A bit of his former ink of choice still clinging to his hand, he stepped over to Madhuri's signage, aaand wapwapwap- a little trail of paw marks was left walking their way up the page.]
