[It's been a quiet few days in Shehui. Life is going on, despite the detention of the Chosen 12--Yeunai is approaching, and there's something about an app called Bondr. Are you being tempted by the Antima trials? Shopping for Yeunai cards to give to your friends? Or is the toll of not knowing where some of your friends and fellow coven members are getting to you?

As for that, the plan to rescue the Chosen 12 from the building where they're being held is ticking along too. There are hushed meetings and telepathic conversations taking place in the apartment building daily--hopefully no one is bugging them, or maybe the planning squad has found a way to deal with that? Members of the coven as a whole have been informed that a rescue operation is ongoing (and ones who were paying careful attention early on will have more details), and to stay close to the outskirts of the city on Day 218. They've also been given the location of a temporary safe area on the edge of the city. The upshot is: prepare to be wanted, and to escape, when all this goes down in a few days.

If you're actually a part of the rescue plan, there are briefings on your role and duties going on the lower floors of the apartment, in the space Geir once inhabited. Even if you're not, there are still things that need to be done: supplies that need to be bought and discreetly moved to the temporary safe location, for one. Everyone has been asked to help with this.

And then, of course, there are the prisoners and the planning squad. How is everyone holding up? Are the interrogations getting worse? Are plans taking shape? How will you spend these last few days in the calm before the storm?]

[As was said above, everyone has been given a temporary safe location on the outskirts of the city, in one of the forested areas, and been asked to help buy supplies and bring them (discreetly!) to the area.

Food, water, weapons, medical supplies--all these things need to be accounted for. Are you one of the shoppers or gophers? Have an idea on how to organize this effort? Feel free to improvise a bit; the planning squad is mostly leaving this area to others. This section can also be used if people want to talk about the plan among themselves, or ask questions.]

[The first level of the apartment, once occupied by Geir, is now being used to host elements of the rescue team: there's one group for the infiltration team, one group for the decoy team, both clustered around a rough map of the area they're targeting.

Roy, Percival, Dirk, Jay, and 9S are there, along with Vern, standing grumpily off to one side. He is still living here, after all.

[Before and after the briefing, Percival, 9S, Roy, Jay, and Dirk, along with a few others at varying times, can be found in Jay's apartment, going over various elements of the plan. The apartment's not closed, and in fact anyone is welcome to stop by if they have something to report on or questions to ask, although you may find that conversation hushes to a stop when you knock on the door.]

[Jay is settled around the kitchen table, studying the map someone made of the area around the prisoners' location. He has his notebook open, but appears to be leafing through it rather than writing things down.]

What's the latest news?

[So, about those interrogations . . . . ]

[Of course, as we said, life goes on, even with all this furious planning taking place. Shehui is still there and buzzing, with preparations for Yeunai and chatter about something called Bondr. Are you looking for a distraction, or just unconcerned with it all?]

So what's the plan when we fuck up?

[ it's a valid question. ]

ack it wasn't updated on the post but waver's been punted to decoy

[Waver's mostly looking at the map that has been spread out, frowning as he looks at all the possible get-away areas. He's on duty as a decoy not to wreck anything, but to provide escape cover for everyone else.

So that means finding spots with a good vantage point, and somewhere where he's less likely to be seen. With a frown, he taps a particular area with his finger.]

Hm. All of the places available have blindspots....[Not good.] Which means determining the one least likely to be used by the actual authorities.

We won't.

[It's a valid question, but Jay continues to not be in the mood for this. He raises one eyebrow.]

That depends on what you mean. We can't plan for every possible way this could go wrong.

[lohengrins]

We need a means of housing the coven after we've liberated the hostages.

[ he sets down a map, alongside a series of papers — they appear to be in regards to the housing market. ]

They'll want everyone's head on a pike, at any rate. I intended on investing in a residency once I had the means. Alternatively, three small caches.

Well, I do — I have for some time.

It's an idea. One that requires the detachment of my name, that is.

[He bites his lip. It's a good idea, a better one than just relying on the open, wooded area 9S and the other androids found. But--]

We'd either need to bring someone from outside the coven into this plan--or find a way to disguise who bought the properties. Is that possible?

[That's directed towards the whole group--Dirk and the androids in particular.]

Burn everything and take them all down with us.

The recon on the outskirts is promising. We can set up food caches and tents or whatever, and even make a cavern to hide Geir in.

[She folds her arms as she thinks over it. Given the size of the coven, she'd much prefer to have a more permanent hideout than simply moving from one densely packed spot in the woods to another, but—]

Given how closely monitored the entire city is, I doubt it. Even if there was a way to disguise who, that might be a problem in itself. No one seems to enter or leave the city without the government knowing, so a name they don't recognize could raise a red flag for them. Especially in regards to everyone who hasn't been captured, I'm sure their keeping a very close eye on our movements and how we're spending our credits.

Damn. You got me there!

[ he does a single clap. ]

Amazing. Harley may not appreciate more extreme temperature changes, but it's a solid idea.

What if we can't actually get inside?

More bluntly speaking, I intended on committing identity theft; borrowing the name of a high ranking government official who would already be in possssion of multiple properties as it is

The issue is that it may pose more problems in the longterm, should they trace it back to us...given that it would be a cybercrime: one that would require hacking.

Due to how open the area is, locating one of us will inevitably lead to the discovery of the rest. Above all..

[ he cards his fingers through his hair. ]

We need to speak to Qri. Leaving this land in one piece is our priority.

[rebells]

[He thinks about that for a moment.]

We should be able to get inside. If not, we can keep knocking out monitors and stealing their identification until something works.

[Dry, but that's basically the plan here.]

There's also a door that can be . . . "hacked." 9S and the other androids are working on it.

At this point, I think it's safe to say she's either in Shehui's custody, or so far outside the city she can't talk to us. Personally, I'm leaning towards the former.

[lohengrins]

Elaborate, if you will. If she truly is in Shehui's custody...tch, then this rabbit hole is bottomless.

[rebells]

We haven't seen her in the city--and this city's large, but I think we would have noticed a mysterious caravan containing a woman in a coma eventually--and she hasn't spoken to us or Genette, not even to give instruction, in months. The most likely explanation for that is that she can't contact us. And we know that Shehui can interfere with our telepathy, at least to an extent.

[He sighs, spreading his hands.]

If she is in their custody . . . she's likely in the same location we're trying to break into. That's the only good part of this.

[insubordination]

[ roy, up until this point, has been relatively silent. simply absorbing what's being said and figuring out what needs to be done. distracted by riza's voice occasionally popping up in his head, to let him know she's still making it through. tuning out every once in awhile to respond to her, telepathically, to keep her grounded.

finally, he speaks: ]

I don't trust Qri. [ it's said a bit shrewdly, and he unfolds his arms over his chest to slide into the pockets of his long, black coat. ] . But she is our only option at getting out of this city, and without her, we're going to be trapped here. Our first priority, however, needs to be getting the twelve people incarcerated out and into a safe location, and prepare for the certainty that we are all going to be wanted criminals by the end of this. None of us are going to be able to adequately search for Qri once we strike.

[ he pauses. ]

The infiltration team is large enough to split. Half of us should be on recon to locate Qri. The other half should be focused on getting the prisoners out and to the rendezvous point.

[ there's another pause. ]

I am not leaving that building until Colonel Hawkeye is out of it, so I'm not going to be the one to lead any sort of recon mission to locate Qri. Besides that, there are children who are being tortured. Getting them out, immediately, is top priority. Qri is urgent for the eventual escape, but there's little to be done in this immediate moment with no information.
