[ If you've never experienced that ear-splitting, spine-tingling, bone-crushing headache that comes with Qri doing...something...then you're in for a treat. It lasts for about an hour on the first day, though usually it fades after a while and things go back to normal.

This time, you aren't so lucky. As soon as the headache passes, you notice there's a certain something missing within you. You may not notice it immediately, but the next time you hear someone talk their words might be equivalent to gibberish. When you go to ask someone what's going on with your telepathy, you find that your words just circle your own brain, no one answering because the message simply can't be received.

This...may be a problem. Hopefully you know how to play charades. ]

It is the job of the legislacerator to find out the truth, of course. She would not have brought charges if there was not good reason for it.

[A pause.]

[ now, jade has not a single clue about the law, or anything like that. after all, is she even a us citizen? who knows! what jade does know is that this is... almost logical. probably. ]

But what if she brings the charges before knowing the truth? Maybe he is being used as a decoy, and the real culprit is playing her like a flute!

[terezias]

If she does that, she will probably be eaten. [She points to His Honorable Tyranny, presiding over this gruesome scene.] A good legislacerator sorts through the tricks and traps and is not fooled.

[She colors in a little more of the noose, her touch almost fond.] That is why it is such an important job. Or was, I guess.

Jeeeez. And these are real laws? Or were. I don't know! If you ask me, it seems like it's asking something unrealistic of everyone involved.

[ jade gestures to His Honorable Tyranny, then looks at terezi with open curiosity. ] Did you want to be this guy?

[That . . . is not how she expected Jade to interpret her comments. She looks down at the drawing of His Honorable Tyranny with amusement.]

I do not think that would be possible. I have never had much of a taste for other trolls anyway. No, I was going to be the legislacerator. It is--was--an important job.

Soooo, you wanted to investigate stuff! Like, crimes and stuff. [ maybe terezi can figure out if jade's a us citizen. WHO KNOWS? ]

I wanted to catch criminals and enforce TH3 L4W. It is a job that often involves investigation.

Like a big name California lawyer in the movies? [ you know, like legally blonde.

not at all like legally blonde, because terezi's not blonde. ]

That's pretty cool! I just met a lawyer the other day. You would probably be a lot more thorough and make sure to not charge someone falsely.... I think. [ probably is the keyword here. ]

I do not know what your human "California" is! But I believe a lawyer is the closest human approximation.

[She perks up--or at least looks curious--at the mention of a lawyer.]

Is this lawyer part of the coven? Or someone from Shehui?

It's somewhere in the US! I've never been there. [ jade doesn't know what a california really is. she doesn't know about their red hot chili peppers or their in n out burgers. ]

The former, his name is Apollo Justice. That is so fitting, it is almost silly!
