[JANUARY INTRO LOG | WORLD TWO]

Who: All coven members, especially new folk!
Where: In and around the new world’s apartment building where the coven is staying, as well as the rest of Shehui
When: Day 160
Open/Closed: Open to All
IMPORTANT: While some prompts are newbie exclusive, all characters can tag this intro log!

How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. You'll also have a letter slipped under your door with some explanation about your whole coven situation, as well as info that explains you have magic now! And yet what kind of magic is conveniently left out.

Are you up to speed? Great.

Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about all this?

A ▢ If you're the sensible sort and want to explore your new digs before slinking around Shehui, you're in luck! You've got easy access to your apartment, and it's luckily not on lockdown right now. Feel free to check out your room, raid the fridge -- oh, and saying hello to your roommates should also be on your to-do list.

B ▢ Let's say that hanging out with these people is a little overwhelming...that's fine! There are plenty of things to do in the apartment building without interacting with roomies! There are vending machines to prop up, a leisure floor that contains a totally vacant air hockey table and a nice garden to relax in.

C ▢ But ah, there's also venturing outside! Out front is the job board, which is a nice place to hit up if you're looking to add to your currently fat but depleting credit account. The problem is that the jobs are currently disappearing quickly, and those around you aren't giving you such nice looks. This apartment building is a known problem area at this point, and your signet doesn't do anything to settle their fears.

D ▢ With new year's week coming to an end, the residents of Shehui are feeling more celebratory than somber now. A lot of businesses are closed in order to enjoy themselves and ring in the new year the right way. A lot of restaurants and bars are currently offering specials, from free drinks to cheap food in order to pull in the holiday crowd. If you're looking to meet people and socialize in Shehui, this is the best way to do it.

E ▢ Also because it's the post holiday season, stores are trying to push out the rest of their overstock merch. One item of note that's being peddled quite often is a cell phone. From tiny flip phones to the latest Orange product, cellphones are a necessity in this modern society. Get yours right now and begin texting right away! There are a few social apps that are installed, so you might be lucky enough to connect with another coven member! They also have Redmolar capability, which will automatically allow you to text those with phones in the area. Maybe send some mysterious stranger texts?

F ▢ While you're hustling around Shehui, you may realize that the telepathic messages get stronger -- perhaps the new coven members are near? In general, you may be subject to telepathic messages about current Shehui goings on, random thoughts or requests to meet up at so-and-so location. A.K.A. let's utilize that telepathy...it may not last forever!

G ▢ Because the week of remembrance is still going on, flowers are littering the streets, though most of them are dead. Bunches of flowers are being sold, and flower fortunes are a popular activity during this part of the holiday. There are fortune tellers on the street who will give you your flower of the year, but it's more fun to have them read with one another! There are digital cards that you can buy that will allow you to read fortunes on the go -- simply tap the screen of the card and your flower will be decided. Not happy with your choice? Too bad! It won't randomize to something different, no matter how hard you try.

H ▢ While a lot of Shehui citizens are trying to avoid the coven members like the plague, a small alien child isn't so much concerned with who helps her, just as long as someone does. She accidentally left her house's door open and her five new kittens are suddenly missing! Where are they? Who knows! But she'd certainly like some help looking for them.

I ▢ As the day winds down, snow falls on Shehui for the last time this season. The government is getting rid of their supplies that create the festive weather. This is old hat for older coven members, but for newbies? You better enjoy the snow while you can. After an hour or so, it piles up enough to truly be utilized for merriment...this also means that it's pretty easy to get snowed in if you happen to be in a building during the snow fall, which also creates some interactive opportunities.

J ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world?

[The person who answers the door is most certainly not Mikazuki.

Tall (though not quite as tall as Orga, mind), broad-shouldered, and seemingly fresh from a shower judging by the state of his hair, Orga is for a moment thrown off of his conversational groove.]
Uhh, [said as he shoots a glance to the nameplate over the door, double-checking. Yep. Right room. Just the wrong person. Or, well, one he hadn't met yet; he'd met Mika's other roommate, and she was just about as opposite from this guy as you could get.

He recovers.]
Hey. [He manages a smile. It's mostly working.] I'm a friend of Mika's. I was supposed to meet him this morning.

[Supposed to, at least. Maybe Mika had forgotten? He probably should've messaged him earlier with the, you know, telepathy thing...

He extends a hand.]
Name's Orga.

[His shoulders roll in a loose shrug.] I don't really think so either, but it'd take a lot more effort than that to convince them.

[It was natural for people to be suspicious of things that ranged outside of the norm. Behavioral tendencies, speech patterns, cultural differences, magical powers... you name it. It was simply the fear of the unknown - a fear that was difficult to get rid of, ingrained in humans, as they were, from ancient times. Something which had kept some alive, when present, and gotten others killed when missing.

Not that it wasn't a huge pain in the ass, but he tended to focus on what he could work with, not what he would simply rail against powerlessly.

He places one hand to the side of his face, speaking in a stage whisper, in a falsely conspiratorial tone.]
But they don't know that. [He straightens up again, smiling.]

We've got mystery and numbers on our side. The suspicion's annoying to deal with, but it can act as a deterrent, as well. [Not the best, but he's used to trying to dissuade opportunists from attack simply by the threat of overwhelming force in retaliation. Orga had never had used the subtlest of tactics...]

At least until we get the hell outta here.

[Call him very impressed. A+ stoicism. And this is coming from a guy whose closest friend is probably depicted next to the textbook definition for that quality.

He taps a finger on the tempered glass.]

Bingo.

[Merchant, huh? Looks like that sword isn't just for show. He's already gotten a vague sense for the disparate types of worlds people came from, some with technology and some without, some with magic and some without. It meant there were a lot of jagged edges when they all came to meet in the middle, but that could be fun, depending.]

Don't sweat it. I'm a prospective buyer, just like you. [He puts his hands back into his pockets, regarding the machine.]

You should've had a card on your person when you first woke up here. Ring any bells?

[Said, deciding to keep joking with her would be more cruel than humorous.]

you're rather honest, aren't you? i suppose there is something admirable about being able to speak your mind like that. i only wish i had your courage.

could i trouble you for some advice? while it may be true that i don't fancy myself beautiful, i don't wish to be obnoxious either. even if you have more constructive criticism for me, i will be happy to hear it!

[ Mika doesn't understand all of the things that are happening to them — rather, it's more specifically to say that he does understand each situation as they occur, enough to be able to make instant judgements on obviously time-sensitive matters — but he doesn't necessarily understand the bigger picture that they all make together when gathered in a group as a whole.

Their roles in Tekkadan have clearly divided, something that Mika has had no objections with before. This situation with Julieta and the Arianhrod is one of those things; pieces of the whole, and they don't even hold all the pieces, yet.

In the long run of whatever we have to do here — We've got enough enemies outside our number. Mika holds the gaze for a moment, for as long as Orga keeps his eyes on him. There are still edges, the sharpness of his eyes not quite gone yet, before Mika wordlessly shifts to eject the magazine, unloading the gun with a quick, practiced flick of the wrist (a sharp snap that slides the lock open and sends the bullet falling to the floor. Catches it underfoot, with intention to pick it up later. The gun, emptied of everything, coming to rest on his side.

He doesn't understand it all yet, nor is Mika attempting to; this doesn't mean that he's had a sudden change of heart about the girl — he'd trust her less than he could throw her. But he trusts Orga. ]

... Alright.

[ Maybe 'weird' wasn't the word to go with as he may have offended the strange lady. He winces a bit before typing- ]

You don't know what a cell phone is, either?

[ These sad, unenlightened folks, living in a technology desert. How did they ever cope? ]

And they weren't bad. Just out of focus, off center, stuff like that.

[ She'd think it was weird too if she got a close up of someone's nose out of nowhere, but on the plus side, she looks like she has clean pores? ]

[ Too late, he's bought into the idea of puns now. Funny how this would never have crossed his mind if not for traveling here and taking the burden of the Singularity largely from him. ]

We can. I would think it exercise for myself as well. [ Said with a soft, brief chuckle. ] One must not lose the language that we know.

[ You know, since memory loss is a real possibility for him. ]

[ Josuke does stand out a bit, but Julius is long since used to colourful people. This isnn't too much of a problem. ]

Weird may have been an understatement...

[ Qri is gone and they're kind of trapped here in a prison. ]

Yes, I did a day or two prior. Have you been here longer?

[ Perhaps it was the perfect order of this place that set them unto unease. Surely, such perfection must always exact a price... and how large would it be? How will they find out? ]

... Did you come from an agricultural place?

[ It seems that they both did not, but better to be sure. Talking about plants is a good cover for the real, more important conversation, so he has to keep pulling points out to sustain it. Easier to talk about a phenomenon and the environment than either of themselves. ]

Qri, the witch who brought us here. We are to seek her out and ply her with magical energy, though the method for that is anyone's guess.

[ In case all their science talk hasn't made it clear, he's not very good with magic. ]
bulletbiter: (hair ahoge strikes again)

[ With each step, a man may slowly begin to undo the disaster he has left in his wake. He doubts anyone else will ever understand this, so it's something that he keeps to himself. A boy who was convinced that his trained preparation would be perfect, a man who wanted to save those doomed to certain death... only to fell them by his own hands.

With each step, he may slowly atone. Even if it takes a thousand years, he will not leave anyone in need. His curse would not let him die. ]

You would think so?

[ Still, it feels undeserving. ]

Thank you.

[ Siegfried was no stranger to prolonged, suspicious gazes. Though it didn't mean he found them to be any more desirable than any new arrival. ]

I would chalk it up to people being wary of strangers, among other things. I haven't been here long enough to make a more accurate guess.

[ He's standing in front of the job board, looking at the limited options as of now -- a brown-haired male in dark armor that might stand out already amongst the crowd. Who can say, with how many that have arrived? ]

[ Now, this was all new even for Siegfried, but practicality called for the need to purchase items of necessity. So he was taking in his surroundings, and then it seems they've collided with each other.

At the other male's rambling, Siegfried could only crack a bit of a smile. He's not even been here for that long and already he's met someone who reminds him of someone he knows. ]

You can call me Siegfried. Well, it's certainly quite a lot to take in -- they don't even have 'phones' where I come from.

[Ohhh!! Keiichi knew that there were people from not-modern, not-Earth worlds here, but it's so exciting to hear about! Even though if in this case it's probably made it pretty confusing for this guy Siegfried.]

Oh! Really?! Yeah, that must really be a lot to adjust to! We have them where I'm from but they're a lot smaller and not as cool. Oh! But it's nice to meet you, Siegfried-san! Did you just get here as well? I hope you don't mind me saying, but if you need help with any of the technology stuff I can try! We're all sort of a team as long as we're here, right?

[ okay, maybe that's genuine self-deprecation. that, or julius learned false humility with the best of them. he does what he can not to groan in julius' general direction. ]

Your self-restraint would put most people I know to shame. Your overview of the situation was clear and concise, and your approach going forward is sound. You offered your assistance to a stranger without being prompted, and then again. I know nothing of your prior circumstances and can hardly offer a moral judgment, but you do seem, at the very least, capable.

[ it's not praise; he's just stating his observations. ]

In that respect, I would consider myself fortunate to have run into you, and I would like to rely upon you in the future.

I have, and judging from what you said just a bit earlier, we seem to be in the same boat regarding our status as new arrivals.

[ He confirms with a gentle tone, and with the offer of assistance, he doesn't give it a second thought. ]

It'd be best if we did work together, and I would appreciate the help. I'm sure I could acclimate to it sooner than later, so there's no need to worry about a slow learning curve on my part.

I mean, at least you can hide that.

[That news does perk Apollo up a bit. Okay, it's not great news, but having any way at all to return home was far better than the alternative.]

I get the feeling you're not talking about just handing over batteries. Do you know how collecting energy works? Or what it looks like? If that's what it takes to get us home, I'll do it. Or uh, try to do it.

[Apollo promptly shakes her hand, in a firm, professional manner.]

If I'm in a comic book, I don't think I'd be the main character. Comic relief, maybe.

Thanks for explaining so much, by the way. Knowing all of the bad news is way better than blundering around completely lost about what's going on here.

Yes, I'm sure my hair is fine. I checked it on the way over here.

[Because checking his hair in windows is just something he does. Sighing, Apollo buttons his shirt collar back up, tugging on his tie to straighten it out before pulling the knot back into place.]

Sure, I can hide it, but I never asked for someone to go insert a piece of metal into my skin. How does that not make you uncomfortable?

A bit of both, actually...[He clears his throat]

I can feel negativity like how one can feel hot and cold...and there’s far more of it here than the locals’ disdain would suggest. I don’t know any details, unfortunately. If I dared, I would do further research.
