[ if you’ve been walking around shehui the past few days, you’ve likely been passed a flyer by chika, riko, dia or ruby that seems to be advertising some sort of concert. as a matter of fact, that’s exactly what’s happening - the night before sunsu, the members of the school idol group aqours currently in the coven will be hosting their first live in a new world to celebrate the holiday season! that much is outlined on the flyer as a subtitle, along with cute designs and the date and time for the show. it’s all set out to be very exciting, so why not show up?

it’s a bit chilly on the night of the live, but comfortable enough that being dressed for the weather should be enough. glowsticks in orange, pink, red and magenta are complementary for all attendees, so feel free to take one as you enter the venue. there seems to be plenty of people interested in the idea of an idol performance - hopefully you’ve gotten a good space to watch!

the stage lights dim for a moment - when they brighten again, the idols in question have taken the stage in their own personalized festive costume. once they’ve taken position, the music for the first song begins. of course, there’s proper choreography to go right along with it, and although they may not be a full group, it’s a solid performance!

when the crowd has died down from their cheering after their final pose, the lights turn to them. ]

Hello everyone! We’re Aqours, a band of school idols from a high school known as Uranohoshi Girls High! It’s far, far away, but we’re still proud to represent our wonderful school. Sadly, there are only four out of nine of us here tonight, but… we’ll do our best, okay? Hanamaru-chan, Yoshiko-chan, You-chan, Mari-chan, and Kanan-chan… they’re all here with us in spirit. With that, let us introduce ourselves!

Good evening! My name is Riko Sakurauchi and I’m a second year student at Uranohoshi Girls High and a member of a school idol group Aqours. Thank you so much for coming and please enjoy the show!

G-G-Good evening! I-I’m Ruby Kurosawa, a first year at Uranohoshi Girls High... Um… I-I really hope you like the outfits I made for us today. I worked really hard on them... And because you came to support us here, I’ll do my Rubesty for you, too! Ehehe...

Good evening, everyone! Thank you for joining us tonight. I am Dia Kurosawa, a third year and the student council president at Uranohoshi Girls High. Though we are not able to be with our full group tonight, we appreciate your support!

Is everyone having a good evening? This is Chika Takami here, resident school idol, leader of Aqours and second year at Uranohoshi Girls High! We’re here to give you a great show tonight, so sing along with us, will you? Even if you don’t know the words, everyone can join in! This is a time to put all your worries behind you and have fun!

[ the next two songs serve as a calming scene and a finale respectively, with a proper goodbye and thank you to the audience between them. it’s a little short as far as lives go, but there’s a parting promise to have more fun on stage in the future.

I made it up. Because I'm Ruby, and I want to do my best, so... Rubesty! [ she does the arm motion along with it. ] It kind of helps with nerves, sometimes...

[He watches, and Lisko apparently does, too, since next second they're wiggling their hand free so they can clumsily copy the action.]

Aha. Then that's okay. [Minimizing anxieties is...good... Even if he doesn't really understand why this would help at all.] Do you always have to do the thing when you say it?

[ aww, lisko. that's just fine for ruby, and she'll shakily smile and nod at him. as weird as they are, she can appreciate a good ganbaruby attempt. ]

I guess you don't have to... But I like it!

[lalliho]

["I like it!" chirps the lizard, and does the arm motion again before happily slapping their tail against the ground. They're just like Ruby, see? Very exciting.]

Mm. [Aaanyway.] I don't think you should have to be nervous about it a lot. You did a good job, I think? A lot better at singing than a lot of people I've heard.

[ honestly, the more she actually spends time with lisko, the more she likes them. who would have thought that facing your fears actually makes them less scary? imagine that.

she manages a little giggle with a more confident nod, but what lalli says makes her eyes go wider. ]

Do you really think so? [ she beams, giving him a quick bow in thanks. ] Thank you! We all practiced really hard...

[lalliho]

[truly, no one could have predicted this.

Meanwhile: smiling people, particularly girls, is Lalli's fear he has to now face. He doesn't really want to... Feels good to be thanked, though, like he actually did something.]

Ah. [...Hmn.] Can I ask why? I don't...understand the point of it.

What do you mean?

[ the question genuinely confuses ruby. she wants to make sure she understands before she gives an impassioned answer. ]

The point of being an idol...?

[He appreciates this about her... Too many people get upset at him and go on a rant because there was some misunderstanding.

Not that there was a misunderstanding here.]

Yeah.

Oh. That's easy!

[ she smiles, soft and genuine. ]

When idols perform on stage, it's amazing... They have the power to spread smiles to everyone they touch with their songs. Even when things are looking down, they can cheer you up and make you remember how fun the world is. [ she giggles. ] It's almost like magic...

[what is this power of friendship bullshit tbh

Still, even if all the talk of smiles and fun disquiets him, he nods and responds steadily.]

It might be. A lot of our spells are song, in Finland, and even some people that aren't mages can use them.

You can do magic in Finland? For real?

[ so this is the power of foreign lands! consider ruby incredibly impressed. ]

We don't actually have magic in Japan... Our songs aren't really spells, but it just feels like they are.

[lalliho]

[He just nods. He can't do anything to prove it here, so he doesn't have to worry about Ruby asking him to. At least for now.]

Unless you just think they aren't spells. You could be wrong. Maybe the gods blessed you and you were too stupid to notice?

[Okay look, she's been really good about not butting into her sister's conversations. But that miiiight have just toe'd the line.

[The tone is a little biting. But she definitely is not trying to come off as rude in any sort of way. Though she does look like she's ready to fight for Ruby's honour if need be.]

[The sudden intrusion definitely gets him to jump, since he was under the impression that the crowd was so absorbed in itself that there couldn't possibly be anyone else really around to converse with. Or overhear, not that he was thinking about that before he opened his mouth. To be honest, he wasn't thinking much of anything before he opened his mouth. Perhaps he should.]
