[It's tough to live on an island that doesn't have many resources outside of the limited food sources and running streams. While Brie is aware of some other minor sources of food, like fish and frogs, one person exploring an island on their own means there are a lot of secret spots left to uncover. Despite adventuring for three years, her time on the hub itself has been much shorter, only staying for days or weeks at a time. Now that there are more people on this journey, covering ground is a lot easier.

Recently she's discovered another large estate -- much larger than her current shared mansion, which might also mean it has some supplies inside. On the morning of Day #, she's called together those who are hankering for more supplies in order to bring as much back as possible. Congrats, you get first dibs.

A. Upon approaching the house, the first thing that's noticeable is its size. It's all one story, but very flat and spacious. There are gardens in both the front and the rear, and upon entering (Brie might have enlisted you to help break the door down, oops) the inside is also quite vast. There are tons of rooms, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, two kitchens and other rooms that aren't even explorable because they need keys to be entered. Unless you can find these keys, that is?

B. Alternatively, or maybe even aside from exploring the house, Brie's also suggested that you do some exploring on your own. Again, she's one woman with limited time to scout the island herself. What can you find? What resources are there to be harvested? Will you share in this bounty, or keep it to yourself?]

Yeah, they wouldn't have started up a colony without somethin' to eat. ...Maybe. Do you think there have been more people besides us Brie just didn't mention?

[ he has no idea how much they're trusting her on the whole yet, okay. ]

Yeah, I do.

[ Minato gestures with a tilt of the head, around the kitchen in general, the house in general. ]

There's huts. Houses. Junk lying around everywhere... some pretty modern, too.

Yeah. Do you think all of it came here at like...different...times...wait. That might be weird. Uh.

[p_mortem]

Weird how?

[ Since Dave mentioned that his thing is time, he's probably thought more about how things can chronologically happen than Minato, who looks at these things and just accepts them as existing. ]

[parodeity]

Like...I guess it's not totally weird, but I feel like some of these things are incongruous with other things? Does that make sense?

[p_mortem]

...Sort of.

[ Not really. The island is pretty much a junkyard with what people have been coming across, random things from random times and places. ]

It might be because of people coming and going, and leaving things behind? I lost something in the forest I arrived in. It probably got picked up and put into a hanging bag for people to find.

No...wait, wait. What did you lose?

[ His sense of responsibility and belonging. But that's a real heavy answer for something that can be summarized with a shrug and ]

Piece of cloth. It's a red armband. I guess I was careless, and it got snagged on a branch somewhere.

[parodeity]

I don't mean to pry, but it's...kind of important. Was it important to you?

[ the thing he lost. because he's starting to get the inkling that matters. ]

[p_mortem]

...Everybody on my team wore one.

[ Even the dog. To Minato, it's proof that he was part of something, it's what bound his team together under a common purpose— without it, they might not even consider each other friends. So even if he refuses to say it out loud, the importance is telling in his pauses, in downcast eyes. ]

But it's still just cloth, in the end. It's not like it's irreplaceable.

Isn't it, though?

[ something from a friend. or something for a friend. ]

I didn't have my shades when I showed up. [ he taps the ones on his face, voice quiet. ] These ain't mine, though I drew 'em up to look the part. The ones I can't find? I never fuckin' took them off. They're the most important thing I own, bar nothin'.

[p_mortem]

[ If it's glasses, Dave would have noticed them immediately when they've disappeared, not like Minato who noticed way after the fact, and would have missed entirely if it weren't for the band of clean fabric where the rest of his jacket sleeve was stained with blood. ]

...It's not magic, is it? Like how certain people's powers were sealed, maybe your shades couldn't come because of the same thing.

[ Though, his armband is just cloth. ]

[parodeity]

No, my shades weren't magic. They just... [ ... ] My best friend gave them to me. The only special thing about them was that they were genuinely Ben Stiller's shades once upon a time. I had a certificate of authenticity and everythin'.

[p_mortem]

[ who is ben stiller ]

So Ben is an important friend too, or...?

[ He can only assume that's why it's important to Dave. ]

...Ben Stiller? He's an American actor?

[ WOW MINATO ]

[ this is the blank face of a name not registering. should he know american actors?? he probably should know them. ]

...Do you not watch a lot of movies? Er...foreign films, I guess?

[p_mortem]

They're alright. I like going to the movies, but I don't really pay attention to actors.

[ Occasional movie marathons are his thing. But after about 12 hours at the movies, faces sort of blur all together. ]

What kinda movies do you like, then?
