A prompt is for house exploring, and you can list off multiple A prompts like A1, A2, etc. for more than one prompt within the house. B prompts (B1, B2, etc) are for exploring the island and may be open to all OR select friends who your character is exploring with.

[It's tough to live on an island that doesn't have many resources outside of the limited food sources and running streams. While Brie is aware of some other minor sources of food, like fish and frogs, one person exploring an island on their own means there are a lot of secret spots left to uncover. Despite adventuring for three years, her time on the hub itself has been much shorter, only staying for days or weeks at a time. Now that there are more people on this journey, covering ground is a lot easier.

Recently she's discovered another large estate -- much larger than her current shared mansion, which might also mean it has some supplies inside. On the morning of Day #, she's called together those who are hankering for more supplies in order to bring as much back as possible. Congrats, you get first dibs.

A. Upon approaching the house, the first thing that's noticeable is its size. It's all one story, but very flat and spacious. There are gardens in both the front and the rear, and upon entering (Brie might have enlisted you to help break the door down, oops) the inside is also quite vast. There are tons of rooms, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, two kitchens and other rooms that aren't even explorable because they need keys to be entered. Unless you can find these keys, that is?

B. Alternatively, or maybe even aside from exploring the house, Brie's also suggested that you do some exploring on your own. Again, she's one woman with limited time to scout the island herself. What can you find? What resources are there to be harvested? Will you share in this bounty, or keep it to yourself?]

[It's very, very hard to tell. What Dirk opts to do is sit closer to the lakeside, near the turtles and frogs. He coaxes one of the turtles over with a small scrap of food.

He has with him some scraps of paper from Minato's notebook and an orange crayon similarly borrowed. For lack of a proper hard surface, he puts the paper on the turtle's back and starts writing things with his left hand, while he soothes the turtle to stay in place with his right.]

[parodeity]

[ once dave confirms dirk doesn't seem to intend to start up a conversation, he stops paying as much attention to him. he can't ignore him completely, and pauses when dirk starts using the turtle as a desk (what the fuck?) but he can at least relax enough to start doing something else.

after a minute he starts lining the paper, evenly spaced. ]

[splinten]

[Nah, Dirk will let Dave doodle in peace. He's a little curious, but he wants to give Dave space? Dirk is doing math. It's very calming, because he is a nerd.

He is also thinking about adopting his turtle desk.]

[parodeity]

[ he's not doodling any longer. instead, after he lines the sheet he starts putting in some cleffs and after a few minutes progresses to very slowly done sheet music. ]

[splinten]

[Now he is even more curious. Still, he makes himself reign it in. He will continue to play with matrices and give Dave time and privacy to do whatever he wants to. His turtle friend nips at his finger, and he gives it a light pat before offering it a little more food to nibble on.]

[parodeity]

[ apparently all dave came out here for was to sit in silence as he works. he has to erase a few notes to correct them for whatever the fuck, but otherwise seems to be focused. it'd probably be easier if he'd stop listening to music as he did it, but eh. ]

[splinten]

[Dirk decides to ask him about it, but not until he stops. He's content with his math problems, anyway.

He may accidentally rap but it's quiet enough that Dave may not hear it.]

[parodeity]

[ with the headphones on, he probably doesn't. he'll just keep working however long it takes, a half hour to an hour, and then he'll turn the page again. none of the things he's doing are coming to life, because he doesn't want them to. ]

[splinten]

[He doesn't mind the time it takes. After maybe an hour, though, measured out on the pocket watch Dave made him, he glances up to see if Dave is still working. If Dave would be interested in a conversation.

If that is the case, Dirk will act, but if not, Dirk will...

Actually is turtle is going for the water and Dirk feels vaguely disconsolate about this? So if Dave is still working, Dirk is likely to go into the water after the turtle. It's his friend now.]

[parodeity]

[ once he's done he basically just starts putting away his shit into his backpack. whether dirk has gone into the water or not, although that would make him leave. quicker. pond-wading isn't an activity he feels like intruding on.

sylladexes are more convenient than backpacks but this still works decently. if dirk's looking up dave will just kind of awkwardly nod again, this time in reverse greeting. ]

[splinten]

[Good job on the awkward nods, guys. He pauses and then—]

Do you want to explore somethin' with me?

[This is said while he literally holds a turtle up in the middle of a pond. The monster of your apartment, Dave.]

[parodeity]

[ there's no visible discomfort, but he is. uncomfortable. as per usual. dave glances around, something a little quietly sad in the way he holds himself. it's a nice place. ]

...Like what? Pretty sure everyone got all the way through that house, and most areas nearest camp.

[splinten]

Anywhere. Further inland or whatever. [ the sadness catches in his throat. He wonders if seeing it is another reason Dave can't stand being near him. He doesn't know whether or not to stay or go. Ghost or just be a toxic weight. There doesn't seem to be any right answer.

He realizes he is still in the pond and sets his turtle down, wading out. The turtle follows him.]

[parodeity]

[ peaceful chill out away from other people hour is a miss, so. he opens his mouth to ask a question, then pauses and re-evaluates it before settling on: ]

I guess. [ it's not like he's expected anywhere until later in the evening. ] If there's anythin' to see.

[splinten]

[ there is a pause of a fraction. ] Where you gonna say something else?

[parodeity]

Not really. I just remembered why. [ he readjusts the backpack. ] ...Well?

[splinten]

Remembered what why?

[Dirk nods, and starts walking off. The turtle is in HOT PURSUIT!

Except that, being a turtle, it's super slow. After a pause, Dirk turns around and looks at the turtle.]

It feels wrong to leave the lil dude behind.

[parodeity]

Just a thing.

[ dave pauses, looks back, shrugs. ]

You can take him back to your place or whatever then. I wanted to track down Rose anyway, so I can go and do that.

[splinten]

[It feels like walking into another slammed door.]

I was going to bring him with us. If you have other shit to do, though, it's cool.

[parodeity]

There might be things to fight if we did that.

[ dave isn't willing to take anything into a combat zone that may not be able to protect itself. or which might distract someone.

it's as good an excuse as any to ditch, even if it does have the benefit of being completely true. ]

I just finished a thing for her, so yeah, I'll do that and you can handle...whatever you were gonna do with it. Him.

[splinten]

I can look after a turtle.

[But it's fucking obvious what Dave wants. He opens his mouth to say something and then shuts it again. It doesn't matter, does it? Dave just doesn't want him around. Except then Dave accuses him of vanishing if he isn't around.]

[parodeity]

It's a dis -

[ dave trails off instead of finishing the word. it's the same quandary; whose opinion is it? he does a quick mental tally and decides that regardless he'd feel terrible if something happened to someone's pet on an outing and therefore agrees with his original sentiment, even if "it's a distraction" isn't exactly the best way to voice that. ]

Anyway. Maybe another time when you've got less goin' on.

[splinten]

Then I'll abandon the damn turtle and come back for him later.

[parodeity]

[ the slightest grimace at "abandon". ]

You'll need to make a terrarium and gather food and stuff. And I've got...mobile shit to do, so it's no big deal. No abandonment required. You should have enough to occupy the rest of your day, if not the next few days, with settin' that up? The island ain't goin' nowhere.

[splinten]

[Dirk sets his jaw. He wheels himself back from the edge, from his despair, from saying, Just admit you won't be happy with me as long as I keep existing.]

Dave, I want to spend some time with you. If you don't want to, that's okay.
