[CLOSED] HYVÄÄ SYNTYMÄPÄIVÄÄ!!
Who: Lalli, Emil, Akira, Dirk, Jude, Ruby, whoever they want to bring, and Lisko!!!
Where: The garden on the recreation floor of the Shehui apartment building everyone’s in.
When: Dec 2nd OOC
Open/Closed: Closed to invited guests
( Hello, beloved and invited guest! Actually, you likely aren’t beloved and maybe aren’t even directly invited. Anyway! Welcome to the birthday party of the age: Lalli Saku Hotakainen who maybe possibly turned 20 sometime...now...soon? Yeah.
His birthday party reflects how unsure the party planner is of the recipient’s actual birthdate. Some parts of the party have obviously been thought out — for instance, there are three birthday cakes (1, 2, 3) and several gifts already present when you arrive. The chairs and decorations, however, are somewhat mismatched and novice in presentation. You might have enough seats for yourself and your guest, and you may or may not get tangled in some haphazard streamers that are lackadaisically slung in trees. It’s a toss up. At least there are ample plates and about five meat and vegetable snack trays.
It’s a very obviously non-traditional festivity. Also there’s a big lizard there. Have fun. )

I know I bought you socks too, but I started that mess when we were on the island, and of course I couldn't buy those there. It just seemed a waste to not finish them, is all.
( Will this be the end of Emil's ventures in knitting? Only time will tell. )
no subject
Yeah. I'm glad. [He experimentally puts his hand in one to test the stretch and how soft it is.] It's, um...
[Hm, how does he express...what it is he's feeling... Telepathically will make it a little easier, at least.]
I like that you thought about me and took time to do something for me. I like seeing more things that show me you...care. About me. I guess.

His chewing slows while he stares at Lalli's face, realizing it strange to hear his voice with his face motionless. Yeah, he really likes praise. Except when he does things for Lalli, it's not the same as his usually ego boasting. Sometimes he wonders if he'd feel as good even if Lalli didn't tell him these kinds of things. The praise is an additional reward in this scenario, not the main goal. )
Of course. It's your birthday, after all. ( It's all he can really find to say at this moment. A crumb almost falls out of his mouth, but he clumsily catches it with his for
Where's Lisko? Slithering under the table to see if they can figure out why Lala likes it under here so much. )
no subject
He still doesn't know what he's meant to say or do, but he's satisfied with placing the clothes in his lap, once he's ducked safely away, and running his hands across them over and over.]
But it's about more than my birthday. Right...?
[He really...wants it to be more than that, for Unknown Reasons.]
no subject
The question is easy to answer...but also hard, in ways. Of course it's about more, but what does 'more' mean? They're friends? They're coworkers, stuck here with the bond of familiarity? Those are both true, but the depth of those words and what's underneath them are harder to understand. )
Yes. ( He says it quickly, like it should be so obvious. Right now, cake is easier to handle than talking about things he doesn't fully understand. That too is obvious. )
Oh! ( His brain finally finds something else to talk about. Emil points to a smaller, flatter package without an adorning name. ) I got you that one too, if you want to open another.
no subject
He looks up from the clothes with a bit of surprise. Sure, he'd gotten three cakes when he expected one at most, but that was a lot of present in that single package! Is he...supposed to get more? From Emil, anyway? He turns this thought over in his head as he reaches for the flatter present and carefully peels back the wrapping. He's too curious on this one to wait...]
no subject
Now you don't have to hog mine every time you play that horrible idol game. ( He's certainly chipper about this. Time to delete that hellish app off of his own. )
no subject
I don't "hog" it. Don't be mean,
no subject
If you say so. ( The tapping that invades his dreams are night...That's hogging it enough, to him. ) Socks alone just seem drab. A good birthday involves a gift with more...power. That sort of thing is all the rage here.
no subject
I didn't think the socks were drab.
no subject
Well, the ones I made aren't as boring. But it's awful to just get socks and clothes on their own as a birthday gift. ( That's some grandpa shit, honestly. ) They aren't exactly exciting, and all you can do is wear them.
no subject
But I told you it was what I wanted.
no subject
Yeah! It's not bad that that's what you wanted, but you need the whole birthday experience! That's more than just socks!
( Lisko's little snoot peeks out from under the table, wiggling at the air. smells like...a dumb boy )
no subject
[you get him at least, Lisko. Here, he'll tip the screen so they can see. See? Just like Day Dad.]
See, Lisko? Emil is trying to get rid of me because he doesn't like sharing.
[He'll think this is mean later, but he's kind of annoyed about this foot-in-mouth stuff after such a sweet moment.]
no subject
( Oh no...his plan is falling apart in front of him, Must Prevent Angry Lalli. ) I'm not against sharing...isn't it good to have things of your own that you can do whatever you want with, whenever you want to?
( Lalli's an independent person who does his own thing in Emil's eyes, shouldn't he be into that?? )
no subject
Mmn. It is good. But you shouldn't get me something because you don't want me to use yours and tell me that.
no subject
I'm sorry -- I didn't mean it very seriously. Sort of like...a half joke? ( Akira told him you're supposed to tease people you like (friends included, hopefully), but Emil isn't very good at it...you probably have to mean it to be teasing to get it to work, maybe. )
no subject
Mmn?
[Glances like he's sizing Emil up...]
Then give me the cake.
[its always a plot to get sugar]
no subject
Emil looks from his cake to Lalli. There's still two and a half slices left. How much is Lalli worth to him, in cake? )
...How much cake?
no subject
how much is he worth, indeed...]
no subject
...The often hidden, small, smart part of him stabs his fork into a slice and hands him the plate. Lalli = 2 1/2 cake. )
no subject
Dirk says you only get fruit cake from people you hate. It isn't true.
[It's also not...the same kind of fruit cake, but whatever.]
no subject
Dirk doesn't know what he's talking about, anyway. Fruit cake is the best kind. I wasn't sure about the green fruit on it, but Lisko seemed to like it. ( They wouldn't sell it if it was poisonous...he just didn't want to eat something gross, so Lisko got a little healthy snack. )
no subject
[but emil don't use their baby as a guinea pig...]
I think it's interesting. I like the dark one that's like coffee best, though.
no subject
( Seems like a Lalli type thing to enjoy. Emil likes coffee too, but not as much as something obviously sweet with no modifications needed. Since the cakes are worse for wear anyway, Emil leans back and decides to indulge in a finger of the mocha frosting. It really is good. )
This really is good. Looks like Lisko thought so too. ( No cake was spared in their path of destruction. )
