( Hello, beloved and invited guest! Actually, you likely aren’t beloved and maybe aren’t even directly invited. Anyway! Welcome to the birthday party of the age: Lalli Saku Hotakainen who maybe possibly turned 20 sometime...now...soon? Yeah.

His birthday party reflects how unsure the party planner is of the recipient’s actual birthdate. Some parts of the party have obviously been thought out — for instance, there are three birthday cakes (1, 2, 3) and several gifts already present when you arrive. The chairs and decorations, however, are somewhat mismatched and novice in presentation. You might have enough seats for yourself and your guest, and you may or may not get tangled in some haphazard streamers that are lackadaisically slung in trees. It’s a toss up. At least there are ample plates and about five meat and vegetable snack trays.

It’s a very obviously non-traditional festivity. Also there’s a big lizard there. Have fun. )

I think it's interesting. I like the dark one that's like coffee best, though.

I'm not surprised. That one's nice, but I do like the fruit cake best.

( Seems like a Lalli type thing to enjoy. Emil likes coffee too, but not as much as something obviously sweet with no modifications needed. Since the cakes are worse for wear anyway, Emil leans back and decides to indulge in a finger of the mocha frosting. It really is good. )

This really is good. Looks like Lisko thought so too. ( No cake was spared in their path of destruction. )

Since he's being uninhibited and a heathen, Emil continues to eat cake with his fingers. It's all technically his and/or Lalli's, depending on how you looked at it. He bought it, it's Lalli's birthday. Just let him live. After another finger swipe of frosting, Emil lets out a big, groaning sigh. )

I'm so glad this party wasn't a disaster. I really didn't know if you would like it, but I'm glad you did. ( Lalli is such a wildcard, and Emil's impulsive need to impress him was on the line today. )

[Emil, why are you all the ways you are... A true mystery. At least he's eating cake like a Hotakainen would, instead of some weird pompous heathen.]

Mrmn. I think you want to be. [Emil doesn't exactly have a malicious bone in his body, when it comes to Lalli, and it's hard to not recognize that even when you're bitter and critical.] If you didn't tell me about this or asked me some stuff...then I would hate this. But you tried to understand me more than you tried to...do something. I guess.

( Pondering it for a moment, Emil snaps out of it to realize he'd chewed on his finger slightly. Uh. Gross. Casually wipes his slobber on his pants. I think you want to be. Hmm. )

I guess...? ( Describing his feelings plainly is hard, more often than not. What's the simplest way to say it... ) Making you feel good feels good. Knowing you is nice.

[Yeah, trying to explain his thought process, which was apparently far more complex than Emil's, didn't...seem to be going anyway. He scoops another mouthful of cake up, then leans over to pat Emil on the head. It's fine.]

( Emil's true gift to Lalli is not flinching away, more interesting in Lalli's pat than the idea of cake frosting residue on his scalp. That's true love, tbh. )

So you tell me. ( Good-naturedly said. He'll take 'good' over 'stupid' or...any other Lalli diss. Lisko wriggles out from under the table and stands on their back legs, ambling over to click clack and Lalli's cake plate. They want some more; please oblige them!! )

Do you really need any more? ( Day Dad, don't be a spoilsport. )

[He has a fork and he got his hands slobbered on, they are clean!!]

Oh -- Lisko. Show Emil the words that Dirk taught you early. Nnoooo...ehhh...

( Thank goodness. At their, name, Lisko perks up and clicks their claws together, processing the request. Their understanding of words is getting better, so they know what Lala is asking for immediately. No esskal sumshun. Good lizard. )

...That doesn't make any sense to me.

( Emil looks at Lalli's plate...he never really considered if what he was consuming was ethical or not, but cake seems innocent enough. What makes it unethical? Eating a person sounds unethical...he doesn't really want to think about that, though.

Lisko just huffs at being misunderstood, loudly screaming CAPITALISM! with such phonic fluency that he can't get mad. )

Whatever it is, they're good at saying it.

[Lalli hums and pats Lisko on the head before returning to his cake. Sorry hon, Day Dad said you had enough sugar.]

You would have to ask Dirk. He said a lot of weird stuff, so I didn't really get it.

I asked, and he said we can be friends. So... That's good.

( Emil's heart shrunk three sizes that day...from all the melting, because he's soft and mushy inside. )

That's great! Dirk is certainly odd, but there's some charm to him. ( He has some secret weirdo kink. ) It's good you've made some friends here. Not that everyone is worthwhile, but people like Akira and Dirk and nice enough.

( Emil's calling the police on this illegal cuteness, wtf...All he does for a moment is stare stupidly at Lalli, still chewing on his cake and totally unaware of the havoc he just unleashed on Emil's mind. Gods, he feels so dumb right now, reaching out to take that plate with no words he can find to spit out. He likes him best!!! HahahaHAHA!!!!

He likes Lalli enough to give him the whole 2 1/2 cake, but Emil also won't say no to the offering, hurriedly taking the fork and continuing to eat. What does he even say to that!!! Friendship Lalli is a formidable beast!!!! )

Yeah, me too. ( haha two can play that telepathy game and shove food in their mouth as an excuse to not say embarrassing things out loud, bitch )

[As collected as he was trying to be about it, the effect Emil's quick admittance has on him isn't unnoticeable. Instead of just the smallest hint of a smile, he bites his bottom lip and hums softly to contain his joy, and he hunches over in an attempt to privately revel in it. Yes!! Emil is going to like him best, too... That's so, so good, and so relieving.]
