[Copper, lizards, and vines - oh my! With the recent installation of 9S and co.'s scanning equipment and the also recent, significantly wetter rainstorms there's quite a lot to check out on the island right now. Plus, the monitor robot still needs a name. You're not going to leave them nameless forever, are you?

Too bad Genette's put out word that everyone's about to be moving location soon. That means these are the last days the coven has for a little while to get everything in order, whether it's to take things to the next destination or to leave them behind. Get your bags packed and your huts cleaned, everyone!]

[ He pauses, standing on all fours, keeping a gap between them in the clearance. He sure doesn't discount the possibility that the metal in her hand might go whizzing through the air in an attempt to impale him.

McGillis watches her movements very carefully. ]

Little choice in the matter but to adapt. For the time being, I have no interest in continuing our strife. It would amount to nothing here.

[ The thought crosses her mind and lingers there for a moment before she dismisses it. She's content to keep plenty of distance between herself and those jaws. They don't need to be near to communicate anyway. Given that the first person she encountered on the island was a shapeshifter, it doesn't take her long to draw her own conclusions what's going on here. It feels better as long as she has something in her hand, but she won't actively threaten him either. ]

[ She really is asking, for all that would accomplish. It seems awfully suspicious to her. ]

[ As a show of sincerity, after a pause, he sits on hind legs and flicks ears towards her. She is truly asking, but that edge of suspicion (and it is fair) must be handled with care. ]

You've spoken with Gaelio, correct? I assumed he would have communicated this to you.

That's right.

[ She's open enough to allow him to speak but everything else about her is closed off. This was not part of her training. It was something she had given some thought to after her conversation with Gaelio but she did not come out to the forest at all prepared for something like this. She wants to get back to her training. Her newfound magic is at least something she's beginning to understand. ]

[finagles]

[ And yet, he's not going to let her get out of it... ]

Are you in agreement?

What am I agreeing to?

[ He's sitting there like a good dog, but she doesn't trust it. She was aware of the expectation that she would go along with it since Gaelio explained it to her in the first place. Now, coming from him, she's offended by it. ]

[finagles]

Obviously, there are no formal terms that we can adhere to in an environment like this. It's simply a matter of confirming where we will stand with each other for the duration of our stay. You need not agree to anything.

[sharpestsword]

This is meaningless. You could just say whatever you want. It wouldn't change anything. I guess I just don't get it.

[finagles]

Don't misunderstand. I am not changing my position or withdrawing my intentions to take hold of Gjallarhorn. [ Not under any circumstances, not ever. ] This is a conversation about our situation in the coven. We cannot avoid each other. You agree with that much?

I can see that to be true. Sure.

[ After all, there he is before her. Probably. Unless this is actually just an animal he's taken control of. She doesn't know of all the possibilities here. And since he mentioned what's going on back home, she has plenty to say to him about that. ]

[finagles]

Given the setting, and the benefits that cooperation would bring to both parties, I see no reason to fight. I understand your hesitation to take me at my word. The feeling would be mutual, had you approached me in this same manner.

[ And even if they manage to come to some sort of agreement, they'll always be wary. Most likely.

It's different with Gaelio. For many reasons. ]

However, I'm not sure that we have other options.

Your approach could have been better.

[ At least they can agree on that. For now it's as far as she's willing to go. Her fingers loosen around the stake in her hand and she brings it up to eye level. She breathes in as she aligns the point with a tree already embedded with several pieces of metal. It flies through the air and successfully finds its target. ]

[finagles]

[ He waits, patiently, allowing her a few more strides of target practice on the tree. At least she's aiming there and not at him. When it becomes clear that she isn't going to add to her statement, McGillis picks himself up off the ground and turns to head back into the brush. ]
