rebells if your character would have icly asked to come!
[So you may have gotten a telepathic message a few days ago about an expedition to map the coastline . . . or maybe you were invited along by a friend. Whatever the reason, it's bright and early this morning, and it's time to set out!
Characters would have gotten a further telepathic message from Jay with a date and time to meet outside the shacks. They'll be heading east along the "shore," tracking the coast, and then heading directly back towards base camp . . . who knows what they'll find along the way?]

[Lenka's come over to stand next to him at the sight of water... in space. What the fuck. He's not usually the type to stand around and yell at clouds but this is a bit much, isn't it?
He's showing no inclination to wade out, either, still dressed in his full uniform getup including gloves, in the sun (he looks a little ridiculous, but at least exploration-ready) -- and would probably stop Dave if he made a move for it because snakebite or not, haring off into whatever this is is just a bad idea right now. Instead, he motions down the coast, to where the water ends.]
If we find where it ends, we can see if the water is spilling, or how far down it goes [and that's what he does, he starts walking along the water instead of into it, because there's nowhere else to go] ... Slingshotted?

When you jump off the side of the island you get thrown back in. My sister did it, I didn't - but you're right, we don't really gotta jump in if we just walk to the edge. No swimmin' required.

[Reflexively he looks over his shoulder to where... the rest of the group probably is, but there hadn't been any girls in it, so it's very unlikely Dave's sister will show up. He doesn't know what she looks like anyway -- come to think of it, the only things he knows about Dave besides his name and his appearance are what little John's told him.
They're certainly a strange bunch, but probably not in a bad way. Death wishes aside.
(He doesn't have too much room to talk about strange, though; at this point, none of them do. Still.)]
Yeah, we don't need to jump. [he's not entirely ruling out swimming, but that would be a pain in the ass] Is it magic, or is there... a force field?
[This is such a weird island.]
no subject
I'm not sure. Like...I don't know how to tell the difference? Maybe if someone had a magic ability that let them sense magic, but that ain't what I got. Speakin' of - what did you get?
no subject
Oh... [now that you mention it] I don't know what the difference would be, either.
[And despite all the newfangled powers floating around, he doesn't have the foggiest where to begin testing such a thing. It's probably not as important as the fact that they probably won't die in space. Why is that a thing in the first place.]
And uh. I call refrigerators. Magic is weird.

[But not everything is food. Um.]
Or use it. I thought it was good for expeditions like this.

[A moment's thought, he's summoned a fair amount of fridges at this point, honestly.]
Shoes. Combs. Stuffed animals, clothes. I think I saw a specimen jar...
[He didn't really want to look at that last one, honestly.]

[ DEAD THINGS IN JARS! ]
What kinda limits does the power have?
no subject
The specimen jar? The stuffed animals? You can help yourself, but they don't stay.
[Look, he has to make sure, Dave might have had to fight someone else for stuffed animals or something.]
I can summon three fridges. Most things disappear when I send one away, but eating still counts, I think.

[More curious than anything. They don't count as emergency rations, all things considered. Lenka do you really want to know about other people's weird hobbies, the answer is apparently an unthinking yes.]

[ FOR DECORATION ]

[Only crazy scientists are into specimen jars, right. Other than whoever that was on the mirror who wanted to eat organs....]

[ so, he's weird, ]

By this time they're approaching the edge of the... chunk of ocean, as it were, and he directs his steps towards the edge of the beach, moving carefully. From his experience on the first day and night, the sand doesn't usually just give way straight to whatever is below it. But. They have no real idea what the bottom of the island looks like.
The ocean, though, just kind of... stops. If they crouch down and extend a hand, they can stick their hand kind of. Sideways into the water. Which is what Lenka's doing at the moment, looking increasingly confused.]
... Force field?
[??????]

Water doesn't work like that.

[Sand works the same. The sky... no, never mind. Definitely never mind that part. The trees are still trees and boars are still edible and keel over if you drop refrigerators on them. That being said, the water sure isn't going anywhere -- even if he leans out over the edge of the sand bar, he can't see anything flowing down below...]
If it's not a force field, you'd fall through.
[Great for swimming, guys.]

[He takes his hand out of the water and points down towards the bottom of the ocean chunk. There are places where the ocean floor is still attached, and places where it isn't. In quick succession, Lenka summons two refrigerators in either spot at a decent angle from where they are.
Waits.
1. Fridge #1 settles peacefully on the ocean floor, seemingly startling some fish. Or what look like fish, anyway.
2. Fridge #2 sinks placidly all the way down to the end of the ocean water -- and then just. Plunges into space. Soon enough, it's out of sight.]
