[So you may have gotten a telepathic message a few days ago about an expedition to map the coastline . . . or maybe you were invited along by a friend. Whatever the reason, it's bright and early this morning, and it's time to set out!

Characters would have gotten a further telepathic message from Jay with a date and time to meet outside the shacks. They'll be heading east along the "shore," tracking the coast, and then heading directly back towards base camp . . . who knows what they'll find along the way?]

[That she was big on acting out of Faith here. Super devoted to Qri.]

That she wasn't terribly inclined to question--well, much of anything? It was hard not to, honestly.

[splinten]

She didn't even question whether Qri would be in danger by coming near us in the caravan.

[rebells]

Really?

[He quirks a smile.]

Did you touch it? I admit I was tempted, myself.

[splinten]

I questioned her order not to and she scolded me. When she explained Qri was there, I stopped.

[There's something about the way that suggests this time. Dirk is very bad at letting dictates from authority decide how he acts.]

Genette apparently prefers face-to-face communications on the grounds that it's more honest.

[rebells]

As opposed to telepathy, I assume?

Does she communicate face-to-face with Qri? I didn't get that impression.

[splinten]

[He confirms the first part with a nod and continues,]

She communicates with Qri through telepathy. Qri apparently told her to bring her caravan there when she was handing out objects.

[rebells]

Did she ask why . . . .

[He's guessing she wanted to get a good 'look' at them or something, but that's not the point.]

What do you guess.

[She did Not.]

[rebells]

[A sigh.]

I honestly don't know how someone can go through life being that incurious.

[splinten]

Being trained to it, probably. There is a general advantage to an unquestioning mentality for domineering rulers.

[rebells]

. . . you might have a point. Her world seems like it was rather--rigid.

[splinten]

[He gives a nod.] Brie's from a different culture and seems more inclined to questions.

[rebells]

And to arguments.

[But that's amused rather than dismissive--better arguing than unquestioned acceptance, after all.]

But I haven't gotten to talk with her much yet.

[splinten]

[Dirk agrees.]

I've only talked to her a bit. It'd be interesting to hear her perspective on the situation in more detail.

Yes. There's a great deal I wish we knew more about. Even if it's just the official story Qri's telling.

[splinten]

Has anyone tried communicating with her telepathically?

[rebells]

. . . I haven't.

[And by the tone of his voice, he's a little surprised he hasn't thought of that.]

I haven't heard of anyone else trying, either.

[splinten]

It's probably worth trying. I'd say there's no harm in it, but we have no idea if that's true.

[From the tone in his voice, Dirk is perfectly willing to go for it anyway.]

If just trying to talk to her is going to get us in trouble, then we were in trouble anyway. Were you thinking of trying now?

[splinten]

If I get telepathically struck down for my temerity, you can break my fall.

[rebells]

I'll be sure to catch you.

[Said with a straight face.]

[Dirk reaches out with a,]

Yo, Qri, you here?

[He lets Jay in on the telepathic communication, but there is no response]

[rebells]

[He waits for several long moments, just to be sure that no reply is coming.]

. . . well. I suppose either she isn't, or she won't deign to speak with us.

[splinten]

The second possibility feels pretty rude. But maybe she's a jackass.
