[So you may have gotten a telepathic message a few days ago about an expedition to map the coastline . . . or maybe you were invited along by a friend. Whatever the reason, it's bright and early this morning, and it's time to set out!

Characters would have gotten a further telepathic message from Jay with a date and time to meet outside the shacks. They'll be heading east along the "shore," tracking the coast, and then heading directly back towards base camp . . . who knows what they'll find along the way?]

She likes things that look nice. Fashion-wise. She was real particular about those accessories she made, and how she dressed.

[ dirk is dirk. dave redirects his attention to john. ]

And yeah, I guess I have been? It's normal to ask people, I think - but uh, Lenka can fuckin' summon refrigerators.

[Dave. Buddy. He's just going to keep quiet for a minute even as he continues giving Dave a thoughtful look, letting his expression slide to Dirk because this is definitely not his fight. He's the referee if needed, but not the pinch hitter.

On the other hand he looks comically perplexed by the refrigerator reveal so. Cool. Awesome.]

[Dirk relaxes a fraction, feeling ashamed for his instant anxiety, his feeling that Dave must hate him—and then pauses.]

[He gestures at the three piece.]

Wearin' the same outfit for over a week straight is also a sign of bad fashion.

Food mostly but random shit. Minato said a fridge full of swords wasn't out of the question. So I imagine it's like...luck of the draw, and might have useful items, weapons, or consumables? You'd have to ask Lenka about any limitations or specifics. I didn't talk to the dude about it.

Dude. [The way that's it said could be for Dirk to the untrained ear, but it's definitely for Dave to cool his jets just a little.] But I do wonder if the other planets will have clothes and stuff we can grab, too.

[He shakes his head.] When I talked to Lenka I did not even think of that, but that could also be useful while we're traveling if he knows how to pick up the refrigerators again. A lot of these powers are ranging from really cool to really weird.

[ he breathes out a sigh but forces himself to uncross his arms, jamming his hands in his pockets instead and raising an eyebrow at john. happy? ]

[ calmly, before he moves back onto the topic of fridges - or powers, at least. ] I'm pretty sure there are at least two touch empaths, which wigs me out a little, and then I guess at least two healers. Haru has barrier magic, which is pretty cool. You know about Orihime, and there's a dude who manipulates paper. Mikleo can turn into a dragon and he flew me around a bit.

[Yes he's happy, thank you. They'll talk about it later. Instead, he snorts lightly.]

I have the same question, but magic is like that. [He nods along though.] Sorey can dive into people's souls, and Yang can make explosive balls. You already know about Madoka and some of the others I've met, too. And we know all of ours, obviously. So it's a pretty big variety.

[The exchange unsettles him again, ironically; he was beginning to calm down by virtue of arguments about fashion. Stupid bickering is normal, par for the course with everyone he knows. Someone intervening isn't.

Caesar is like a sunlamp. I worked by his handlight the other evening. The soul dive was a pretty interesting experience. Unfortunately, I couldn't glean anything from it aspect-wise here. Mikleo has a weirdly calming three-dimensionalized soul metaphor.

[ uhhhhhhh. he didn't expect the request and looks over at john like john will have an answer solely because rose isn't there to look at and there's a moment where he glances to his side like he expects her to be there before he looks to john. exactly how often did he hang out at her hip during the course of the last three years? ]

The other healer is a girl with green hair. She asked to punch me. Jay's a touch empath, and so I think is Giorno. But maybe they work by different rules. Oh, and Chiaki...buffs people, I guess. [ his tone goes weird when he mentions chiaki, like he has no idea what the fuck to think about the guy, which is true. ] He hugged me and apparently owes me dinner based on a deadpan joke I made.

[ HE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO HANDLE CHIAKI ]

We have way too many touch-based powers in the vicinity. And obviously Minato is beads.

[Oh. He notices and he's quiet even as he subtly takes a step closer to where Dave is even as he's also moving to scoop up another wayward frog.]

That's something we can do back at the main camp? Seems pretty dumb to do it out here, but still doable.

[And instead he's picking up the other thread of conversation.] I knew about Jay and Giorno, too. Didn't really know much about Chiaki's powers but uh, that makes sense. He's kind of a lot. [But he likes him?] Minato's power is still pretty useful for travel, too. Maybe I'll ask everybody before we leave what power they have so we can organize for the next planet…whenever that is.

[Dirk can't even respond to all of that. Chiaki, hilariously, he can handle.]

Chiaki reminds me a lot of Squarewave. [...Oh yeah they have no idea who that is.] Squarewave is a robot I built. He does rap battles and invariably loses, but it makes him really happy. He gets like an excited puppy, or at least what I figure excited puppies are like, whenever he thinks I'm about to challenge him to a rap battle.

[Honestly, Squarewave is adorable.]

Collating information on our powers is a good idea.

[ it's a lot of words. dave takes refuge in just responding to the parts that do not require him to analyze thoughts or feelings. ]

You're the leader, bro. I think that nominally puts you in charge of askin' people shit like that wholesale. Mostly because I don't feel like addressin' the group at large. And it would be cruel to inflict Rose on people with interrogation permissions.

You made a rapping robot? [He's so confused, bro. He actually seems pretty intrigued by that because why even, but then Dave's talking and John sobers up a little again. Mediating. Keeping things light even though he knows he doesn't really need to.]

Anyway...we'll see. Depending when what we find out next it probably would not hurt. Maybe people can be like us and work together with what they have. Especially if we are stuck with just the one power.

Two. Squarewave lost every rap battle he ever engaged in, and Sawtooth won them all. I literally never was able to beat him.

Why would you program them that way? I mean it makes sense as a balance but I am just curious.

Squarewave was an early experiment in programming for rapping. Sawtooth was the later model with a more advanced AI. But it felt wrong to change Squarewave's programming when he had so much fun with it.

Do you think you could make something like that here with the right supplies? Not necessarily a rap-bot, but other stuff.

Yeah, pretty much. I spent a lot of my time salvagin' the detritus of the sunken city and puttin' together parts into various robotic creations. I just need the supplies and some tools.

I'd like to see what we can pick up from other planets and recreate. I mean I have my fusing thing, sure, but I cannot really create stuff tech-wise. But I can code a little so there's that. And Dave could probably draw up some tools if we knew what they looked like.
