Musical Beds Beach Bonanza!

[Remember those lovely (cramped) colorful beach huts all lined up and ready for occupation? In these early days, in between exploration and crabs dancing jigs on everyone's insides and difficult magical training and certain people blowing up or otherwise walking away with entire huts, it's every man for himself when it comes to claiming sleeping space!

It's dark, you're tired late in the day, it's hard to read the nameplates on the huts should any have been filled out already. Whatever the reason, you've wandered into the wrong hut and fallen into bed, or wandered into the right hut only to find someone else in your bed.

The obvious solution is to grab the next available bed, owner be damned. It's not like the beds have names written on them.]

[ Minato mumbles incoherently at the shove and the shout, but doesn't want to wake up for either. A room is a room, and if a door isn't locked, he's used to just poking around wherever he wants and falling asleep anywhere he wants. He can't even be bothered to open his mouth to speak, instead going for the telepathic message of ]

Sleeping.

[ before holding the covers close and rolling over into a tight burrito with his face pressed into the wall. There's plenty of space, leave him alone. ]

[She double takes when the sudden telepathy comes through her head and then gets more annoyed. Two can play at that.]

STOP SLEEPING THEN! [She bellows loudly through a telepathic voice.]

[ That gets a reaction out of him. Minato curls up, initially, hands clamped ineffectively over his ears before realizing that won't help at all, and then he sits up to let the covers fall off back onto the bed. ]

Alright, [ he yawns and thinks back at the same time, blinking sleep from his eyes and squinting over at FF but not recognizing her. ] I've stopped sleeping.

Good. [She says aloud, now that she has his attention.] You must have been really tired to come into my bed by accident. That is it was an accident. Was it?

[you're not some kinda THIEF are ya??]

...Yeah.

[ PRESSED LIKE THAT, WHY WOULD HE ANSWER OTHERWISE? Even though he did come in on purpose, flopped down onto the bed on purpose. ]

I didn't mean to come into your bed.

[ not her bed specifically; this isn't a lie. ]

That's fine. [So long as he acknowledges it as an accident off the bat, she can be forgiving.] But, y'know, if you want this bed so much you can't just have it like that. You need to exchange with me for something. That's prison rules.

[aka the only rules she knows of, due to living in a prison.]

[ Prison rules, Minato laments internally, thankful that he's good at keeping thoughts to himself and off his face. But outside of prisons, that's also fair, so he can't argue otherwise. ]

Alright. Would you exchange the bed for items, or a favor?

I would. [She nods, sitting down on the side of the bed.] Do you have any items that are worth this bed?

[ Does he??? Let's find out. Minato reaches down to the floor where he'd thrown his jacket off before getting into bed; in one of the pockets is one of the bags containing his junk collection of beads.

He starts turning them back one by one: a kaleidoscope, several blank notebooks, a terribly done sculpture of Minato's head... ]

I also have food if you'd prefer that.

[F.F. hums as he goes through the items, but zeroes in on the kaleidoscope. Before he even offers the food, she's already putting it to her eye and gasping in shock.]

Hey, what is this? It's not a regular telescope. There's colors inside it.

It's called a kaleidoscope.

[ It's a piece of junk that he's not sure why he carried around all year, because they never made very good gifts. It works by... something about mirrors, he thinks, but it might as well be magic.

He steps in front of the other end of the tube, changing the colors and patterns inside. ]

Not quite a telescope, but I bet it would look pretty pointed at the moon.

[She gasps again when the colors suddenly change at his presence, pulling the scope away from her eye. There's a slight circular press mark on her skin, proof of her pushing too hard in excitement.]

This is so cool! You can have my bed for the night if you let me borrow this. I'll give it back to you tomorrow morning.

[Who needs sleep when you got something amazing to discover and learn about? She wants to just turn and point it everywhere.]

[ She's going to run straight off the beach cliff, isn't she... ]

I don't need it, so you can have it, if you want.

[it is a very likely possibility that she will.]

Are you sure? I don't want to just take something for nothing... unless you're certain you won't miss it.

[How could you NOT miss such a cool invention??]

[ Minato nods, honestly glad to get rid of it so it doesn't take up space-- and it goes to somebody who appreciates it much more than he does. ]

If you want to pay me back, you can show me where things look the coolest. Then I won't miss anything.

[And she stands up from her spot on the bed, waving the scope clutched in her hand.]
