Who: Haru & YOU.
Where: Haru's Garden on the outskirts of the forest or the mansion garden.
When: Day 88 ( pls correct me if i'm wrong on the day)

[Now that everyone is back on the island hub, the work begins again. For at least the last couple of days Haru has been going in-between two gardens and making sure that she is prepared for the worst. One garden she hadn't even had a chance to start planting... the other? Well, it was in a sad state. The already sad looking mansion garden just looked sadder without her there to take care of it.

If one would happen to find her in the mansion garden, she will be on her hands and knees pulling a monstrous amount of weeds out of the garden. She looks a little worn out and perhaps that is to be expected for a huge garden that got completely out of hand while she was away.

At some point she is sending out a mental message to anyone in her vicinity:]

This is Haru speaking, if someone is free... could they come to the mansion garden? I think I may need a hand out here. Thank you!

[Later on in the day if someone were to find her in the garden by the outskirts of the forest, she is still preparing the ground and the soil for a project garden. It's a hard job to do by yourself, but Haru wasn't about to drag someone out here to do it with her if they didn't want to.]

[O-oh, that causes a little blush to rise on her cheeks. Honorifics were just commonplace for her. She used the with everyone. Even her best friends.

So when Jude says differently, maybe it is a bit of a shocker?]

Right, Jude.... just Jude.

[Focus Haru, FOCUS.]

That's a good start, did you know that? Then you will definitely be successful as we move forward.

[ he doesn't understand what she's so startled about, but he figures there's no need to comment on it. ]

With you helping me out, there's no doubt I'll be successful!

[One day she could explain, but right now? There was no need to discuss it. She would just call him Jude, and that would be that.]

You give me too much credit, but, I appreciate it.

Pfft. Giving you too much credit? Impossible. You have a real knack for this.

[ jude gets back to weeding, realizing he'd already gotten sidetracked. this might take awhile if he keeps stopping to talk to haru. she's just so comfortable to be around it's hard not to. ]

Are you still going to show me the tea you were growing?

[As long as they work and talk? Haru thinks the time will go by tremendously faster, and the work will be twice as fun.]

Mm, of course! Thankfully it survived.

[Haru points to a corner of the garden where a lush patch of tea leaves seems to be growing.]

Tea is tougher than I thought. The weeds didn't manage to kill all of it.

Thank goodness for that. Once they're done growing, I'd really like to sit down and have a cup with you.

I would like that too. We should make our own blend once it is mature enough to harvest.

[There are probably literal sparkles in her eyes.]

Sounds like fun. I've never done anything like that before.

[ jude notices. it's positively endearing. it's lovely, to see haru so passionate about something. ]

I'll teach you how to do that too, if you want.

[She can postively say that Jude is becoming one of her closer friends, she just...really finds his company calming.]

On a more serious note... I think I want to tell you a little more about myself.

Well, I'm eager to learn. I'll be your willing student!

[ he says, cheerfully, but jude sobers up a little when haru speaks again. ]

Go ahead. Shoot. I've got all the time in the world.

[ he can weed and listen at the same time. ]

Have I told you anything about my family?

[Perhaps talking about Father would be okay to Jude. It would be helpful, maybe almost refreshing.]

Not all that much, but you did mention that your father was a CEO of a food industry. That seems like a good place to start.

How would you feel if I told you that I used to be engaged?

[ARRANGED MARRIAGES, HAH. Haha.] And that I was angry at my father for putting me in that situation.

... An arranged marriage? You?

[ that doesn't answer her question, but the surprise in his voice and written on his face should be answer enough. ]

A business marriage, but, it's all the same...isn't it?

[Haru knows where she is going with this. She's going to explain stealing hearts again. Perhaps using her own father as an example.]

I've admittedly never thought about it. I can't even imagine going through something like that.

[ something occurs to jude. something he'd rather avoid thinking about, but he needs to ask. ]

Your ex-fiancee didn't... hurt you, did he?

My father and my ex-fiancee hurt me terribly, emotionally anyways.

[They thought of her as only a pawn, and as only something that could be toyed with. She hated it. She never loved her Fiancee, not when they were together and especially not after their break up.

She's happy she was able to get the marriage retracted.]

That's the reason I wanted to change my Father's heart. He had done terrible things and couldn't see the value of what was in front of him any longer. I know I didn't explain why we steal hearts as well the last time we spoke.

But I thought it would be better if I went back and explained with an example.

I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that, Haru. No one does, but...

[ especially not her, someone so sweet and kind and gentle and caring. jude is too patient to let it show, but deep down it infuriates him to his very core, the idea that someone, her own father even, would hurt this person. his friend. ]

I admit that it's still a tough concept for me to grasp, so if you're willing to talk about it a little more, I'm all ears. But no matter what... just know that I won't judge you. For anything you may or may not have done.

[ jude has a feeling this whole heart stealing thing is somewhere along the lines of: ]

Sometimes, we have to do not-so-good things for good reasons. Making those choices is tough.

Perhaps what we are doing isn't so great. Maybe we're doing the right thing the wrong way. Who knows. But we were all granted the powers we were granted to do better with.

[She pauses.]

I love my father, the man he used to be. But when you lose sight of something you end up losing the person you were in the process. I was desperate to make him see the light again, and to force him to focus his intentions back to good.

... yet, he ended up paying the price. Not that I know why or where to misstep was taken.

[But the change of heart didn't fail, the change of heart would have been successful.]

I wanted to change him, Jude. Even if he hurt me, he was still my family.

[ jude stops his weeding to glance at haru, wishing he was in a position to do more. this doesn't feel like enough. ]

My relationship with my own father is a little rocky, but family is family. I don't blame you for wanting his heart to change. You wanted freedom from the choices that were oppressing you, choices that you had no control over. Anyone would.

What happened with your father isn't your fault.

I wish I could say it wasn't my fault. I don't even know what went wrong. We all thought we were doing everything right. We are against hurting people, against killing them... and yet.

[Her Father is dead, and to her? A person who doesn't know the real truth behind it? It was the Phantom Thieves missteps.]

But, I wanted to help you understand, and it's good for me to talk about it now. It helps me get it out.

[ the truth is, jude doesn't know how to feel. when he looks at haru, he doesn't see a person capable of killing, but here she is, confessing exactly that to him.

yet she said herself she's against hurting, killing, and jude guesses akira is too.

he isn't going to turn her away. she's his friend. he never would, and whatever happened... it sounds more complicated than he can possibly grasp. he still doesn't believe it's her fault, even if she does. even if there's no changing her mind. ]

You can talk about it all you need to. It's still difficult to understand, but I'll do my best, and like I said, no matter what, I won't think less of you. Nor Akira.

Just remember that I'm here for you. Always. And you don't deserve this great burden on your shoulders.

[The saddest part of it all is that she is not aware that she is not at fault at all. She doesn't look capable of killing any human life because frankly she isn't! Haru would never intentionally do this.

Everything is complicated, and she wants to reassure Jude that she isn't some person using her power for the wrong reasons.]

That's why you're such a good friend, Jude. Thank you. It means a lot to me when someone takes the time to listen. You already knew it meant a lot that you would even join me to garden! Look at all we got done!

[It looks like in the time that they were talking they cleared out a good portion of the weeds and trimmed up quite a few of the plants.]

Oh, I didn't even realize...

[ time passed quickly when they spoke, and the garden has been spruced up considerably. ]

I'm giving you most of the credit, though.

[Well, at least they can call this a success!]

Mm, I can't accept all of the credit or even most of it. You worked really hard too.
