[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

With your voice, huh? Why not just walk around while singing? [ TOTALLY ineffective for RP tho. ]

Yeah! I didn't think of that, but it would be easier than asking people one by one!

[Thinking more on it, though, the mission never said that he had to heal physical wounds.... and from what he's gathered, that may not be all there is to it.]

Uh, are you feeling anxious? Or nervous or anything like that. Some kind of negative feeling.

[butsubutsu]

Er [ Yes? Like. Midoriya isn't an anxious ball of nerves necessarily, but it's hard not to be a little unnerved by being kidnapped, completely by your lonesome, and then stranded on a strange island for a few days, but... the people seem nice enough. ] I mean, I guess? I think it'd be hard not to be a little anxious about... everything happening here, you know?

[doublesharp]

Yeah, I know what you mean. [Believe him.] Then if you don't mind, let me try something really quickly!

[Taking a deep breath, he brings a hand to his chest and closes his eyes before beginning to sing a soothing melody in a lovely, clear voice. From what he's gathered, his new magic is supposed to not only physically heal those that listen, but also lift some of their mental strain or make them feel more relaxed. Riku has hardly had any practice with the magic portion of things, but even if it doesn't work, at least he's a good singer?!]

[butsubutsu]

[ It's not hard to figure out what Riku is going to try, and so Midoriya says nothing, but watches curiously as Riku prepares himself and eventually begins to sing. Not a very high strung boy, he was probably a good place to start trying out new magic like this, for even if the magic where working, the singing was pleasant enough to ease Midoriya bit. Probably more than he thought. When Riku finishes, Midoriya smiles, clapping. ] Sounds like you've done a lot more than just practice singing. [ Riku definitely seems talented. ]

[Receiving a smile in return is really all that Riku wanted, so upon seeing Midoriya's face, he lights up in return. Even if it didn't work, he was able to make someone smile, and that's enough for him.]

Ehehe.... Thanks! I'm actually a singer, so I'm glad they gave me a power where I can do what I love most! [Grin turning a tiny bit sheepish, he rubs at the back of his neck.] Though I still have to practice this whole magic thing. Do you think it worked at all?

[butsubutsu]

Uhm, [ Midoriya pauses, thinking about himself. ] Hmmm..... [ Give it a moment. He's trying to be EXTRA certain that it did help. He does feel better, but could it just be psychological???? ] I... I think so, yeah! I actually feel better than I have in days, if I'm honest. [ He smiles, laughing a little. ] Thanks for that. My names Izuku Midoriya, by the way. You?

[doublesharp]

Really? You mean it?! That's amazing! If it helped, I'm really, really happy!

[And seriously, he genuinely looks it. His smile is bright enough that you almost need to shield your eyes.]

Oh, right! I'm Riku Nanase! It's nice to meet you, Midoriya-kun. [He laughs a bit, leaning forward just a bit.] What a cool name! It's like something you'd find in a story!

O-oh, you think so? I-I mean, I definitely like my name but I've never really thought it was anything special.
