[OPENING] magical training log

Where: The beach.
When: Day 4
Open/Closed: OTA
[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.
As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.
She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.
But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

You don't have sweaty palms, right?

See for yourself.
no subject
Fine. [And so she just... pokes a finger at his palm to test it before putting her hand flat over his.]

It's hard to think up of stories, alright.
Anyway, here's one:
Four story building: there's an internet cafe on the first floor, a salon on the second floor that's permanently under construction - abandoned, really, there's no way of going in there at all even from the stairwell, it's sealed off - and offices on the third and fourth floor. A man walks to the elevator on his way home. He hits the ground floor, and waits.
The elevator has four buttons: 1, 2, 3, and 4. Because the second floor has been abandoned and there's lots of scaffolding and construction debris all over, the button for the 2nd floor doesn't work; it just skips the floor. It's been like that for a while.
It's late in the evening. The elevator is small. It makes its slow descent from the fourth floor to the ground floor when it stops in between floors.
The doors open to the second floor.
All that light came from the elevator. In the dim light, the man sees a figure jerking, moving like a spider, with long, elongated legs and a hissing, shuffling sound, moving through the floor at high speed.
Frightened, the man hits the button to shut the doors. And that's when the lights go dark.
The doors close.
The elevator comes to life, slowly goes to the ground floor. The man stumbles out in a hurry, pale as a sheet. The receptionist for the cafe, who saw him, asked him what was wrong. He was about to tell him when he saw his shadow.
Two figures, and long limbs. He fled from the building.
[ after a pause, he says, ] That's all I got.

She swallows and lets go of his hand, rubbing it silently for a moment.]
That wasn't scary at all.
[It wasn't, but why does she feel like she listened to something far worse?]

I'll work on it more. I've got plenty of time to burn in this island.
As for whether or not it'll be real - let's say that because there are no elevators here, zero. But closed and cramped spaces are always a problem to be trapped in no matter the time and place, so be careful.
[ the last bit is actually just a thing added for fun, and not part of his powers at all, but it's still part of his mission. since he has to make people uncomfortable, and all. ]

Alright, you don't need it. All the same, it's part of the deal - the story and the prediction.
Are you a fighter?
no subject
She's not running off, so she's already fighting. It's just not a physical battle, but one against her mental state.]
Yes, I am. A good one too, so don't think about messing with me.
[He hasn't, of course, not that she knows about his power and what he did. However, she never assumes people won't be enemies. And in this current state, she isn't quite being rational about it.]
no subject
I kind of just did. It's not permanent.
I'm a fighter, as well, but I'm not here to fight, the point is to demonstrate my odd magical ability which I can't control much yet. [ hands up in front of him. ] I'm not looking to go for a second round.
