[OPENING] magical training log
Who: Brie, whichever newbies want to show up.
Where: The beach.
When: Day 4
Open/Closed: OTA
Where: The beach.
When: Day 4
Open/Closed: OTA
[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.
As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.
She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.
But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

Well yeah. Because we are practicing at getting better. You're really just going to sit back and watch instead? Doesn't that get a little boring after a while?
no subject
This is sitting on a beach and watching a bunch of budding mages experience magic for the first time. It's entertaining certainly. But it's also incredible to witness. It's like that english story about the school for wizards. [she nods a bit.] I'd be a great professor at that school.
What about you? Doesn't practicing get boring? You're doing the same thing over and over and over again after all.
no subject
Oh. Yeah. I've heard of that. [But he's not sure how he feels about being called a budding anything and he shrugs slowly.] I don't think it's that boring since these aren't like the powers I already had. Plus it ends up being different every time I use my new thing. This isn't the first time we have had to learn to use new powers but this one is more unpredictable.
no subject
[She sits up a bit, completely attentive to the boy in front of her.]
Normally when you cast a spell it should be consistent. What power do you possess that makes that not so? And what kind of powers did you have before your arrival here? Were you a wizard of some kind?
no subject
Fusion. I can combine anything with anything else and make a new anything. [Hence why it's always different.] I was not a wizard, but my sister was a witch? Our aspects were different though so our powers didn't match either. [That answers nothing, but one thing at a time.] All of us had different aspects, actually, so our abilities didn't really overlap.
no subject
She claps her hands together and nods enthused.]
Your magic sounds fascinating. A bit like alchemy. Taking one thing and turning it into something else. In this case taking two things and turning them into something. I'll have to see it action some day.
But your history of magic has me incredibly intrigued. Aspects and your sister... Is she here? I'd love to meet her. What was her specialty?
no subject
Aspects. [He repeats it with a nod.] She's not here yet, no, but she has to show up some day. The rest of us did so it would only make sense. [Let him dream.] But she is a Witch of Space! So she has all kinds of cool witchy space powers including the ability to shrink entire planets.
[He doesn't entirely know how all of Jade's powers work, but he knows that much. Now that that's answered...] When she does eventually get here you can definitely meet her. She likes meeting people. And even if our true powers don't work here, if you really wanted I could show you how my new one works now? [His tone takes on a bit of a hopeful edge.] I kinda still need to finish my assignment from Brie anyway.
no subject
I would love to meet her one day. I guess it only makes sense that there would be more people out there like me. Space witches and time wizards... But it's exciting nonetheless. I do sincerely hope she shows up one day. I don't know her but I have so many things I want to ask and talk about.
[Jade the Witch of Space. She'll be looking forward to her possible arrival even if it's just for a brief amount of time. It's nice to know you're not all alone in these great big countless universes.]
I would love to see your magic. You need two of something, right? [She only has her wine glass and book out here. Neither one she's willing to hand over.] Can it be anything or do you need something specific for your assignment?
no subject
[Yuuko...help a kid out. He probably wouldn't damage either of those items too much? But he shakes his head.] Doesn't have to be something specific and I actually only need one of something. The other object has to be something of mine. I am still experimenting with what I can actually use.
no subject
Anything then... let's see...
[The book belongs to the library here so it can't be that. So that leaves her wine. Well. Okay. For the sake of magic and teaching she holds out the half full glass.] Take this then. Let's see what your magic can do~
[Maybe he'll turn it into a full wine bottle. That would be very excellent and delicious magic~]
no subject
Um. If this doesn't work we'll figure out how to get you more wine. [It's the least he can do, and so there's another lull as he concentrates and fuses the items together.
This produces a plastic wine glass that when squeezed seems to refill itself with liquid. He tilts his head, giving the item a few test-squeezes before holding it out to Yuuko.] But that went better than I thought.
no subject
She rests her cheek in her hand watching everything very carefully. It's a curious kind of magic, one that she can't even offer advice for as it. She's familiar with alchemy but that's not quite what this is...
A wine glass with a plastic bottle, hm? And together that will create something new?
And at first it doesn't look new. It's still a wine glass. Just... well plastic. That just means it won't break after one too many. That's something she can appreciate. But it's actually so much better than that.
Yuuko audibly gasps when wine appears in the glass with a squeeze. Now that's very excellent magic!!]
I think it worked wonderfully! [If it wasn't obvious you have made this witch very happy.]
no subject
Hah, yeah! Just as planned. That is the one cool thing about the fusions. I can make them do anything even if it seems impossible. Thanks for helping me out with that.
no subject
[She's not doing any of this training. Which may be a touch arrogant but she has been around and doing magic for a long while. That being said she'll gladly help everyone here on the beach. Even if it's just offering up her wine glass. That's still something.]
Good luck with the rest of your training though! I look forward to seeing what other unique items you make with your powers. Ah, and I do sincerely hope your friend is able to join you on this adventure at some point.
