[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

Ahaha, you would think so! [ this is definitely the girl with the red hair who makes food, yes! unless there's another one around, then orihime has yet to meet her. ]

Mm, I'm trying to recreate each individual part of the burger! Just now, I was thinking of the patty. But it seemed to have just made the entire thing instead...

[Give him a second to look over what she's created, a hand coming up to his chin in thought as he hums to himself.]

What about if you start thinking about the bun first? Working from the outside in since that part can be split in half? A patty needs a place to sit, doesn't it?

That's a great idea! I've been working from the inside out, I guess I should try the other way. Alright, let's see...

[ thinking mode again, and orihime's visualizing a set of hamburger buns.

the burger just recreates itself again.

she opens her eyes, and then she's frowning in disappointment. ]

Ah, again...? But why?

[Well. On the bright side nobody will go hungry around her (little does he know...), but he can't help but lean forward to poke at the burger cautiously.]

It's a perfect replica. That is actually kind of awesome. You could feed the whole island. Maybe it's because it's a whole meal? [Hmm.] What about visualizing something else? Like an egg that could be used for an omelette.

[ little does he know...you sweet summer child. ]

Aha, I guess I could... At least we'd never go hungry?

[ which is one of the perks of her powers--it's food! well. good as a last resort, anyway. other food to eat...would be preferred. ]

Hm..so a smaller dish, you mean? I can give it a try! Wait just a second!

[ so orihime goes through her regular routine of thinking up a dish and bringing it to life, except she focuses in on the single egg, alone, surrounded by nothing but nothingness...

out pops some omurice--an omelette over rice--with a ton of teriyaki sauce poured over it, topped with blueberries. ]

Eeh?! It--It still didn't work!

[He's about to agree with that but then Orihime's already doing her thing, and he's watching a prepared dish come to life. He at least recognizes it even if vaguely, but he also picks up one of the blueberries.]

Were these supposed to be in a bowl on the side? [Maybe it's all about visualizing? That must be it.]

[introspects]

No! Those weren't supposed to appear at all!

[ this egg was literally surrounded by a black void what else is she supposed to do ]

...I think...I think I can only make meals... Aah, I was hoping to think up ingredients so I could cook instead...

Meals with ingredients that shouldn't be there? [Why are there blueberries, Orihime. Seriously.] It seems like a lot of our powers are very specific and have specific limitations. I guess you could think of a lot of meals and pick apart the ingredients that way if you wanted to make something new? Or would that just mean your meals get fixed instead?

[introspects]

Well! I know some of those ingredients seem odd, but they tasted good when I made them before...

[ trust her on this, john, YOU'LL SEE when she actually gets a chance to cook ]

Oh, that's a clever idea, actually! Maybe I'll just have to do that and handmake something that way, huh? I just wonder why they all taste like this... It's really different from when I cooked them myself!

Are...you sure? [Sounds fake but he'll have to just trust her on it. He shakes his head.]

It couldn't hurt if that's a loophole you could use. But what do you mean they all taste like...what, cheeseburger?
