[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

Oh! [ why hello there! ] Don't mind me, I'm just talking to myself, hehe... I'm just trying to see if I can recreate this burger over here from scratch!

[ the burger looks...interesting. sort of like if you try it, you might die??? ]

So far, I've only been able to create the whole burger, not the individual parts. But if you want to help me come up with new dishes, then I wouldn't mind that either!

[He can't help being interested in it. He's never had a burger before. He decides to sit down with her.]

Hmm, well, um. Oh, I know. I've always wanted to try popcorn. Do you know a popcorn dish?

Nope, but I can make one right now! Give me a few moments!

[ oh boy here we go.

orihime closes her eyes, inhales and exhales deeply. give her a few seconds, and then suddenly a bowl of popcorn will pop out right in front of jake. however, this isn't plain popcorn; it's got curry sauce, sardines, and avocado on it. disgusting. ]

[While Jake doesn't know a whole lot about popcorn, he knows it shouldn't look like that.]

I— Well, I think it worked.

[Though... he asked her to make it and she did. He shouldn't complain about it.]

Should I try it? [Okay no he needs support in trying this.]

Of course! It's got curry sauce, avocado, and sardines to top it off for extra salt!

[ she could've just used regular salt but then her powers wouldn't have worked so

here we are. ]

I'll eat it with you if you'd like, so you don't have to feel bad for taking some!

Well okay he really can't turn her down now. Breathe, English. This is true bravery right here.]

Sure! Why don't we try it together? [He takes a handful because if he's doing this, he is not half-assing it. His entire bottom is going into this.] Ready, miss?

Mhm! Ready when you are!

[ she is also taking just as much as he is, her hand full with popcorn. she won't wait for him to stuff almost the entire thing in her mouth, sardines and all, expecting flavortown--

it's disgusting.

absolutely disgusting.

actually, it tastes just like the burger she had earlier and it feels like she's descending into hell, bit by bit ]

[Jake has never tasted: popcorn, sardines or curry. He's had avocado a few times and while it's not his favourite, he doesn't mind it. And he does like fish and sardines are fish? So it can't be that bad.

Except he shoves it in his mouth and it's an explosion of flavours that he really isn't familiar with on their own suddenly smashed into a confusing and horrible mess in his mouth. His tastebuds want to die. He doesn't mean to spit it out but he does, instincts born from thinking anything that tastes bad might make him sick.

And then he instantly feels awful.]

S—Sorry! Maybe it's, uh, just— Uhm... I'm sure it's good?

[introspects]

[ that is not how that was supposed to taste, orihime thinks--it was a concoction of everything terrible in the world stuffed into one small popcorn snack and she feels sick.

and then jake spits out his bite. orihime thinks it would be rude to spit her food out in front of him, so she's going to muster up the courage to swallow it. truth be told, she only does so the taste of this--whatever it is--doesn't have to linger in her mouth for much longer. that, and she doesn't want to be rude.

but boy, was that terrible. ]

N-No, you don't...need to apologize...ah...

[ she looks pretty queasy right now... ] Ohh...that didn't taste like I thought it would...

[He's dying please save him.]

Ah, how did you... think it would taste?

[Right now he's. Trying to shift through the popcorn to see if any isn't slathered in this terrible concoction.]

[ even if he tried a regular piece of popcorn, it would still taste disgusting. such is the downside of orihime's powers; no matter what she makes...it's disgusting. ]

I thought it would taste...less salty...! Not rotten!
