[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

I think maybe starting back at the huts and making our way down the beach? There is still a lot of stuff probably back in the forest, too, but that's a little further. I've been collecting stuff since I got here but not everything is gonna go together that great. Have you done this before?

[heartkey]

Sounds good to me. [ A solid plan, new friendo. ]

Hmm. Not really. [ He's found treasure before without specifically looking for it. And he's also been with a bunch of pirates who's lives revolved around it. ] I've searched for stuff before, I guess. That's sort of the same thing, right?

[ Not necessarily treasure hunting but ... searching for objects or his friends is a thing he's done. (Sora, who hasn't searched for things before??) ]

[windeity]

It's close enough. [Yeah he won't call him on it because like. That counts enough? Considering the last treasure John encountered ended with him getting new powers and getting unstuck in reality he's fine with doing the search thing for a while. Come on, Sora, let's go this way. John's already gesturing for him to follow as they head back toward the huts.]

Part of what Brie wants me to do involves other people's items, so I'm looking to find what other people have left behind if that makes sense? [It's not entirely what his mission is, but it's a vague loophole.]

So ... your mission is to find peoples' things? [ Sora that's not exactly what he said. ] Is that what your magic does?

[ It sounds useful at least?! ]

[windeity]

Not exactly but that would be even cooler. Do you think somebody else might have that power? [That's not an answer, but.] I still have not figured out how our powers are chosen for us or anything like that.

[heartkey]

[ Crossing his arms. ] I sure don't have it. [ His power is much harder to use and also more destructive, too. Whoops.

And he thinks on that last part for a moment. ] I dunno. I haven't really thought about it. Do you think yours fits you?

[ Maybe his fits him? It is a little light, after all, and he's generally known for being in the realm of light and fighting against darkness and all. ]

Kind of. I can sort of see why since it's just cutting out a catalyst for how I did stuff at home, but it's nothing compared to what I'm used to. My friends' powers make more sense. [And because Sora brought it up:] What is yours anyway?

[They haven't even exchanged names and that's how this is going. Okay, boys.]

[heartkey]

[ Who needs names when you can just associate people by superpowers. But Sora's interested to hear that his friends' powers make sense. Maybe there is a connection between their powers and themselves??

But at that question, he moves to demonstrate his own power, putting his hands parallel to each other in front of him and having a small white ball of light appear in the middle of them. If he decides to get close enough, he'll be able to tell it's hot like fire, too. ]

It's this. Pretty neat, huh?

[ Neat but difficult to control thus far. Whoops. ]

[windeity]

[Sora are you about to kamehameha or what. But okay, John doesn't ask and he simply watches before the ball of light appears. Naturally he does approach a bit to get a better look, eyebrows lifting once he registers the heat coming off of it.]

Generating balls of energy, basically. That...is really awesome, yeah. [Whoa.] Do they always stay at that size?

[heartkey]

[ He's not very good at making it appear with just one hand right now okay. ]

Yeah, so far it's just been like this. You think it can get bigger?

[ Because Sora has no idea. ]

[windeity]

I don't see why not. I think all of our magic is a little likely to be able to do a couple of things, but we have to try. I didn't know I could merge things together in a huge chain, but I think I got up to six once. [A shrug.] Maybe it depends on how you concentrate.

[heartkey]

[ That's all nice to hear (and Sora of course intends on trying his best to get better with his magic, especially if it's all he has to fight with and all), but that part about merging things catches Sora's attention the most. ]

Wait a minute, is that your power?

[ Merging things in a chain or something?? ]

[windeity]

Huh? Oh, yes! [Well that might explain why he wants to find a bunch of stuff.] My power allows me to fuse two things together and create something new. I'm still trying to understand exactly how it works, but that's what it's been so far.

[heartkey]

[ THAT ... IS ... ] That's so cool! You could create all kinds of stuff like that! What kinda things have you tried so far?

[ He's so intensely interested in this. ]

[windeity]

[Sora please. But John's own enthusiasm matches and he pauses to think about this.]

We've created a lot of stuff. Uh, we made a lamp? It smells like apples and changes colors but it is also shaped like a brain, so that's a thing. And we made this small yarn dog that makes ocean noises...I've been testing things on my own, too. But nothing too impressive yet while we're figuring it out but there doesn't seem to be a size limit? [A shrug.] I can only fuse two things at a time, but they can be anything.

[Sadly, after this conversation John continues fusing a lot of stupid things. Perhaps it's best that Sora's speaking to him now.]

Whoa ...

[ HE LOVES THIS. IT SOUNDS SO NEAT. Making stupid things doesn't seem stupid at all to Sora and instead it just seems exciting and cool. ]

So that's why you're looking for stuff, isn't it?

[ THEY HAVE TO FIND HIM COOL STUFF TO FUSE. ]

[windeity]

That is exactly why I am looking for stuff, but if I have to do that anyway it made more sense to make it more fun than just walking in circles. [John has priorities ok.] And anyway that was Brie's assignment for me. Find items from other people to fuse with stuff of my own. But I do not have a lot of my own stuff yet anyway.

[heartkey]

[ Sora is 1000% more pumped for this treasure hunt now, friendo. ]

I don't have a lot with me, either. [ Patting his clothing to demonstrate that he's not really got anything on him anywhere. ] So let's get started with looking! I gotta see you do this!

[windeity]

Sounds good to me! Like I said, I bet there's still probably stuff out in the forest if we get desperate but I will take another shell or a rock at this rate.

[Onward! But oh.] I'm John, by the way.

[heartkey]

I'll take anything! I bet it's cool no matter what you use. [ But he does want to see him fuse ridiculous things to see what comes of it. ]

Oh, right. I'm Sora!

[windeity]

Sora. I'll remember that. [Onward then, new friend Sora.] Cool is maybe one word for it, yes! I think almost all kinds of magic can be pretty cool though. That is probably not limited to just putting stuff together.

[heartkey]

Yeah, I think you're right about that. [ Crossing his arms. ] There's all kinds of cool magic out there. I wanna know what everyone else can do, too.

[ He bets there's got to be a ton of different types of magic they're capable of and he's mega curious to see all of it. ]
