[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

[ As of right now, Minato's magic is a black hole in which nothing can return, but enhancing that might either help him with that return...? Silently, Minato considers the risks, half nods half shrugs, and motions Chiaki to sit with him down on the sand. ]

Minato almost raises his hand to hover over his signet; all he's learned from it is that people touching theirs gives him a massive headache, and Chiaki touching it would almost surely knock him out with the force of a thousand suns

[ He lets his hands lie flat on the ground, sitting up straight and still at the ready. ]

[AU CONTRAIRE, we should be thanking mikleo a thousand times today because he also warned chiaki about the giant headache thing.... hence why chiaki nods eagerly with a small 'ossu!' before reaching out and

carefully, just barely touching the signet with a featherlight touch because he's a good gentle boy too. there's the little glow that emanates from his fingertips, the littlest sign of magic, and then he pulls back]

There! What shall you do next...?! I'm excited!

[ That "—excited!" barely leaves Chiaki's mouth when the sand beneath them explodes into hundreds of thousand little beads in all colors of the rainbow, filling the air with tiny pieces of glass, that even Minato is startled into trying to stand and lift his hands off from the ground and yeah

but for right now, he's so starry-eyed and amazed that he ends up just yelping in surprise, followed by his excited - ]

[ Amazing is Chiaki Morisawa chasing after the red beads like candy falling from a piñata while Minato shuts his eyes and stays put like he's sitting through a hailstorm. He's a hoarder, but like. He's not even going to bother stuffing all of these beads into his pockets, he'll never find anything otherwise.

He waits for the beads to stop clattering as they hit the ground, until the only sound is Chiaki moving among them, wanting to say something but... he kind of feels like he can't interrupt this... ]

[Eventually Chiaki will realize that he is pantsless and Minato no longer has the bead that contains his goddamn pants. For right now though, he's gently collecting all the red beads because they're his favorite - and also a yellow one, a blue one, a black one, and a green one?

He wanders back to Minato, excited as he brings the five of them (including a red one) into his palm and shows it to him!]

Look, friend, it's the colors of Ryuseitai, ahaha!

[That means nothing to anyone but you, Chiaki. Though for what it's worth, it does translate directly to "Meteor Squad."]

Yeah.

[ Yes it is. For all he knows, anyways, glancing down at the beads in Chiaki's hands and wishing he could appear more intrigued— it's hard to look excited about little pieces of glass junk. ]

Why don't you hang onto them? You look... happy.

[Chiaki's happy about everything - but to be honest he looks even fonder when he sees these colors put together? He laughs faintly - ]

Is that alright? They're the fruits of your labor...!

But if you truly don't mind, I'd enjoy that. They remind me of my team from home.

[ He doesn't want them, take them away]

[Chiaki laughs even as he just?? Walks through all the little beads? Okay.]

Look at the change we're capable of together, friend! Amazing!

[ god, Chiaki keeps calling him "friend" and Minato will never do anything to change that, because it's... nice, like an affirmation, the way his team sometimes calls him Leader instead of his name because that's what- all- he is to them. ]

My team is red, mostly. [ He touches his arm where his SEES armband should have been ] ...I lost what reminds me of them. What's your team like?

Regardless, Chiaki notices the little touch - but doesn't otherwise comment on it. There's a tilt of his head before he grins.]

Red is a good color... the color of burning hearts and change! I'm sure that you had a very lively team.

[as for his own.. his expression grows absurdly fond.]

For me... They're a team that I worked hard to assemble - a team of budding heroes and unending kindness. Ah, each color in Ryuseitai represents a different member, you see!

[He holds out the beads again, pointing out each color as he thinks of the member.]

Since I am the leader, I get to don the brightness of red! But Blue is my trusty second-in-command, as profound and constant as the ocean. Green has more potential than he even begins to know, if he'd just open his heart to his own greatness. Yellow may still be the brightest of us, though he insists to live in the shadows for now. And Black is... ahaha, he's everything that I wanted to be at that age! Soon he'll take on Red when the time comes...

Together we are Ryuseitai, the shining stars that illuminate the night sky and seek to grant the wishes of those in need!

[ His own team is damn depressing. Dead family, abandonment, guilt, existential crisis, Minato Arisato at the forefront just trying to keep hearts beating, let alone burning. What is he supposed to say to this. ]

What quality makes you leader?

[ All this praise for everybody else is overwhelming, even if it's not directed at himself. But is it enough for a leader to be the one who started it all and assembled all the members? ]

[ . . . and that's about it - or at least Chiaki has to take a thoughtful pause.]

Mm, well I do believe that I am Chiaki Morisawa, the strong and kind hero that all the underclassmen look up to...! [ . . . a sheepish laugh.] I think?

I wonder a lot if I'm suited for it... but even if I'm not, they're entrusted to me - and their success is far more important than my own!

[ "I'm leader because I'm me" makes Minato laugh, silent and under his breath, because wasn't he the same way? Having the position foisted upon him, although he wouldn't know about being looked up to. ]

[ You can be that here too, granting people wishes. You do you, Chiaki Morisawa. ]

[All Chiaki wants to do with his life is to grant happiness to others.

So he grins at that, warm like the summer sun that he loves to claim.]

Do you think...? Ahaha, you're very kind to me, friend - though now that I think about it, I've said my name multiple times but I don't know yours?

[ ...But he doesn't offer his name. ]

[ If Chiaki's going to tell stories about him, Minato doesn't really want his name attached. But he sighs and relents, because Chiaki does look like the sort of person who would call "friend" out into a crowd if that's the only epithet he has available. ]
