[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

[In truth, Chiaki has no idea how this magic thing works.

It's what's sent him flying into the air because he enhanced the strength of his legs just a bit too much, or when he was tripping over himself in the sand with his enhanced speed and then eating beachfront. He's kind of a mess by the end of the day, sand in his hair, but undaunted with a light in his eyes. He really feels like he's a hero now...!

But - he catches sight of her lounging, and the wine glass, and tilts his head...?!]

Is it really time for that...? Surely it's too early to be drinking already?!

Hmmm~? [Being scolded for drinking? Well, this place certainly is starting to feel like home. If he was a little lankier and a little louder and faaar more considering she'd think think she was back at the shop.

Yuuko leans forward to get a better look at this young man that's not quite scolding but surely and clearly judging.]

Well. What is time but a made up system that our ancestors crafted for us? [Says the witch of time.] Time is an illusion. Albert Einstein said that you know. Besides~ it would be a crime to not be drinking on the beach on a day like this. There are worse things.

[HE WASN'T READY. He looks alarmed, because he didn't study? Is this going to be on a test?!]

Miss, I'm not sure if I follow.... but you should be mindful! Too much alcohol isn't good for one's body and we have just began our training!

A lecture... not really. I have lectures if you really want one.

[Well, calling all her wise words lectures is rather erroneous but no matter. She doesn't intend to talk all that much. Unless this young man needs help with his magic. Then things may get rather chatty.]

Actually they say a glass of red wine a day is good for you. Red wine is filled with antioxidants. Which are thought to protect your body's cells and tissues against damage that can lead to the development of diseases. One glass for women. Two for men. And... I don't know. Maybe a bottle for witches. The math seems right on that. [She nods, yeah. Definitely right. Oh... does that count as a lecture?]

Anyway... I'm glad all you children are practicing magic. It's very entertaining to watch. Many of you seem to be doing quite well. Sparks and balls of light. It's all impressive.

[ . . . that's a lot to sort through?! Chiaki stumbles through the words, tries to keep up, and tilts his head - ]

A-Ah... Thank you, it's true that everyone is working very hard! I'm doing what I can to support them too....

[She nods a bit, sitting up straighter in her chair. This talk seems to be more than a scolding from him so it's worth appearing attentive.]

That's right. A witch. I had a few titles about the kind of witch I was but they seem just a bit unimportant right now.

Why~? Are you familiar with them? Or is the claim to be a witch a bit of an absurdity?

Hmm... It is merely something that I'd only heard of in stories - but so much of what I'm seeing now could also just be in a story? If it's a dream, then it's a detailed one!

[He really doesn't sound that upset about it though....]

Do you have multiple dominions as a witch?

It would be quite a dream. I do hope this is something real though. I much prefer this to the current reality I'd be facing at this moment.

[No need to get too deep into that though.]

But yes you can. Depends on what you study and focus on. You can have as few or as many as you'd like. I was known mostly for space and time. But I could do other things as well.

Haha~ I suppose. But they sort of go hand in hand, if you think about it.

[That question. How to say something without worrying someone so young?]

It was the end of a difficult time. The end of many things really. Because all things must come to an end eventually. And it's important to accept that. Even so... I would not like to return when there is a new life here to explore. Time is ticking forward and I would like to experience that in full, not just the last dregs of it as a lengthy story finally came to a close.

I am recently deceased. Not for the first time mind you. It seems there are great forces out there that would prefer that I was alive for one reason or another.
