[OPENING] magical training log

Who: Brie, whichever newbies want to show up.
Where: The beach.
When: Day 4
Open/Closed: OTA

[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

[ Mitsuki watches when Tamaki reaches out to touch him, then looks up at him. Tamaki as a healer... it's not as unexpected as it could be. He leans back against the tree he was hiding by and nods. ]

Okay. Do I have to do anything?

Uh... I don't think so.

[He continues to stare at his hand, willing something to happen, but as the seconds tick by, it becomes clear nothing is. He tries focusing really, really hard on curing Mitsuki's illness, but that doesn't make anything happen, either.

After a few more awkward seconds, he looks up at Mitsuki.]

...I'm not sure how it works.

[ Mitsuki takes a deep breath and even though Tamaki told him he doesn't have to do anything, he focuses on feeling better. It's clear in a few minutes, though, that neither the power of his own positive thinking nor the power of Tamaki's healing are having much effect. His stomach's still rolling in a very unpleasant way.

Mitsuki lifts his hand and pats the hand Tamaki has resting on his arm. ]

It's all right. Do you think... [ The pause is less for dramatic effect and more for him to swallow hard and wait on his guts a little. ] Do you think I might be the wrong kind of sick?

Uh-uh. [Tamaki shakes his head, looking at Mitsuki hard like he can will the sick out of him.] This is what that girl told me to do. Heal someone who ate the crab.

[If Brie said he needed to do it for training, that must mean it's possible, right? He just needs to figure out how to target all the bad bacteria in Mitsuki's body. Boost his immune system, or something. Like a game. Zap all the nasty germs.

Thinking of it like that makes a sudden pulse of energy jolt through his hand, and though Mitsuki probably couldn't feel that, he can definitely feel the way Tamaki's hand spasms against his.]

Ah! Something happened!

Oh. Well, you're free to keep trying. [ The little bit of human contact certainly doesn't bother him, though he's not keen to throw up in front of Tamaki if he can help it.

Or to be thrown up on, if that's what that little twitch in Tamaki's hand means. When Mitsuki looks over, though, his friend doesn't look sick, he looks excited. ]

Mmm, what was it? I didn't feel anything...
