[It's about noon on the island, based on the position of the sun. The newbies have had a few days to settle in, but that doesn't mean they've fully mastered their newfound abilities.

As much stock as Genette puts into telepathy, Brie is more concerned about their other newfound gifts. She's aggressively tried to wrangle as many newbies as possible onto the sandy shores of the beachfront area for some magic practice.

She's got a list of everyone's magic -- only a few vague notes, limitations are for you to discover -- and she's handing out missions for magic training. If you want to participate? Feel free. If you don't? Suit yourself.

But understanding your magic isn't just an activity that benefits the group. Learning your magic's abilities may be what stands between you and survival, which is something she makes perfectly clear.]

Whoa, you created it so easily! It's a real barrier! Uh, okay, let's see....

[Just to make sure, Riku taps on it with his fist, and then.... realizes that he's kind of weak, and punching it sounds like a bad idea. Instead, he picks up a nearby stick and braces himself before whacking the barrier as hard as he can.]

[Well, he made a dent in it! But no cracking. She's going to let the barrier down for now though.]

Are you okay? Did it hurt you any?

[She took it down.... did he mess up somehow?]

You did it right, I just thought maybe hitting it that hard with a stick might have unsteadied you.

[She's just generally someone who wants to check up on people.]

Do you want to try again?

I'm okay! Um, then.... Let me give it one more try! I'll do it right this time, promise!

Mm! okay! I believe in you.

[She's going to bring up the barrier one more time.]

Go when you're ready.

Thanks! I'll do my best!

[Gripping the stick tightly, he gets into position once more and whacks the barrier a second time.]

One hit! How many is it supposed to take?

[mapsio]

Three! So go two more times? As hard as you can manage, okay?

[She has a defensive stance.]

Replies 10 years late.... I'm sorry!

It's not going to shatter and hurt you or something, right? I mean-- two more! Got it!

[It's not often (or ever?) that he has a chance to use all of his strength to do something like this, but believe him, he's putting his all into these last two strikes!]
