[It starts with a telepathic message over video, Jay using the mirror shard gifted by Genette to broadcast this message to the rest of the coven:]

It's come to our attention that some of you are going to want to help the Palai with their raid problem, so we thought--if we're going to be involved in this anyway, we might as well do it right. How about a meeting in front of our temporary home at noon? We'll discuss our strategy and assign roles. I'll broadcast it via this link, as well, for anyone who can't make it back in time. We welcome input from anyone who has a brain in their heads.

[If you come to the front of the house at the appointed time, you will indeed find Jay and Dirk standing together discussing--something, and perhaps a small crowd beginning to gather. This meeting will also be broadcast over the signets for anyone who wants to listen in there.]

BARRIER REMOVAL: AN ONGOING PROBLEM

[Oh no, it’s his turn again. But why. The monotone is less urgent this time; this is probably going to be an issue, but they still haven't found evidence that it is tied to the Uvi. The opposite would seem to eb true.]

Finally, we have the barrier to consider. For those who haven’t seen it, it’s bright white, and surrounds the entire island about a quarter of a mile inward. It’s essentially a giant bug zapper. If you touch it, you get the joy of being zapped, dazed, and incapacitated like a moth with zero discretionary capacity. Our estimate is that it runs on electricity-based magic.

At this point, we don’t think the barrier is related to the Uvi. It’s still something we want to investigate, so we’re taking ideas on how to get in. So far, our best ideas were barrier or electricity manipulation powers. Digging under might be an option for the optimistically inclined.

If it's electricity-based, could you ground it out? I don't know if anyone has ground magic... [Listen, it works in the Pokemon world.]

We'd have to direct it for that to work, which might be possible if we have someone for it. We could also try using insulation and going through it.

The Palai have the technology for it. We can ask around.

Are you sure it's electricity? I can absorb electricity, and can probably get through if there's nothing else blocking the way.

[ But that's it. He can't turn it off or disable it completely, but maybe he could pass through the barrier? It's kind of useless if he can't bring anyone or anything else with him, but it's a start. ]

Not completely. Would it be safe for you to find out for us?

[Like, he doesn't want to send Minato to absorb electricity but he's allergic to magic somehow (??) and DIES]

Who do you know is a healer?

Madoka has healing magic that's limited in use per day. I can destroy any injuries that I understand. I don't know if we have other healers.

[they really NEED more healers if they don't]

I have magic that allows me to create barriers, but I haven't considered trying to lower a barrier that isn't my own.

[But can she even try it...? Would it be safe?] Maybe If we determine that it isn't electricity I could give it a shot?

Do you think you could tell its nature if you saw it?

I don't know if I could tell off the bat. But if it really is electricity... I think that should become clear to us.

[She wants to be as helpful as she can.] Regardless, I will try my barrier magic on it.

[He gives a nod of affirmation.] Thanks. Will it be dangerous for you to try if it isn't a barrier?

I won't sugarcoat it and say "I will probably be fine". But if this barrier isn't something that I can will with magic... I can only assume that it could cause me harm.

[That's the ugly truth here.]

Minato might also try something out that could lash back at him. Unless someone turns up another strong healer, we should go one at a time with Madoka on standby. If someone gets hurt on the first go, Madoka can heal them, and the second person can wait until the next day when Madoka's healing powers are active again.

That's a smart idea. We should treat it very cautiously as well and avoid injury if we can. I'll help however you need me to help.

Say we are able to take the barrier down, are we going to explore past it?

[splinten]

[People not Dying is ideal, and minimal injuries are also ideal. He sort of tripped and fell into helping Jay out with this, but he's still painfully aware that his efforts to do any leading have led to horrible disasters in the past.

That's the idea. It looks like there are suggestions of human civilization along the coastline. While it probably isn't related to the Uvi, I'd like to know what's there and how it might relate to the windfalls of human objects that came to the Palai.
