[Training was something they decided on a week or so ago, if only because Dave had grown up with the actions ingrained in his blood, practically, and John could stand to maybe learn how to fight without relying on his powers.

But like. That's not what's happening here at all. Ever since the boys discovered their abilities were unlocked on this planet their training changed. Not far from the house the coven is staying in Dave and John face off with their sword and hammer respectively. Sometimes miniature tornados burst to try and blast Dave back. Sometimes there definitely seem to be multiple Daves, including when they stop moving, flickering in and out as he starts and completes loops. Soon though Dave's sword strikes at the hammer repeatedly, a literal blur moving faster than any person should before John suddenly evaporates into a hint of blue, turning into the wind to pop up behind him and bring the hammer down. It lands a hit, but with Dave moving so fast and John following, the dice roll and land inside his hammer. Suddenly, slowly descending, a jester's hat falls directly on the head of any poor bystander who came to see what this nonsense is about. John and Dave stop, weapons drawn and staring before John's lips twitch and he suddenly laughs.]

I think that's a great look for you. What do you think? [It's debatable if he's asking Dave or the lucky owner of a sweet new hat, but given he keeps snickering it's probably you.]

[After a while the pair of them appear to be standing around with weapons down, deep in conversation and though that part may seem normal, a wide variety of objects seem to appear from hammerspace. Dave and John pull out and resort item after item, and it's only when John's left holding what looks like a rubber duck that he turns and waves over whoever is closest.]

Hey! Be a tiebreaker for us? Dave thinks that this would not be useful to use in a weapon. Got any other suggestions?

[Alternatively, you're free to stumble upon them drawing ridiculous bullshit as John gleefully fuses items together two by two. In this scenario, there's a grin from him as he gestures to Dave's lightpen.]

a new challenger approaches

[ they go a few rounds, and using a hell of a lot of cheating on either side with powers and learning how to train with powers on, there's a fairly even split of wins and losses. so it's actually possible to approach either when john loses his hammer or dave's sword gets dropped; disarming or yielding seems to be how losses are tallied.

either way, dave will offer casually: ]

Feel like a go with the winner? The loser needs a break. [ choose your own adventure as to whether he's teasing john about john needing a break or making a very dry statement about needing a break himself, as you take on either dave or john. or refuse the offer, that's always an option. ]

about the lizard people though

[ after they're both worn out beyond bothering to move, lying on the ground and in dave's case with his arms crossed over his eyes (...and shades) while john opts to stare at the sea high above them, they seem to be thinking about vaguely more important matters. that is, dave will tilt his head slightly as he hears footsteps approaching, and say: ]

Hey, pop quiz. Do you wanna help the Palai or what?

I mean, maybe? I was thinkin' more we utilize John's skills and mine and Rose's all at once. And maybe anyone else's. Between the lot of us, we can totally make it up there with enough people who wanna go. Hell, Victor can turn into a dragon, too?

Okay, that part I did not know? [About Victor.] But he has a point. We've been getting a lot better at making our powers work in our favor, so a flying boat isn't out of the question. It would just be easier to figure out another way like. I don't know. Dave apparently knows how science works for things to draw.

How many dragons do we have? Just the two? I suppose we could get them to carry people in a net or something . . . .

Only two I know of. But havin' them...I can draw up a raft, or a boat, okay? And Rose can enchant shit to be light and not weigh a lot or whatever, and John can meld it, and then we can ferry it up there. Yeah?
