How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. You'll also have a letter slipped under your door with some explanation about your whole coven situation, as well as info that explains you have magic now! And yet what kind of magic is conveniently left out. Are you up to speed? Great. Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about all this? A ▢ If you're the sensible sort and want to explore your new digs before slinking around Shehui, you're in luck! You've got easy access to your apartment, and it's luckily not on lockdown right now. Feel free to check out your room, raid the fridge -- oh, and saying hello to your roommates should also be on your to-do list. B ▢ Let's say that hanging out with these people is a little overwhelming...that's fine! There are plenty of things to do in the apartment building without interacting with roomies! There are vending machines to prop up, a leisure floor that contains a totally vacant air hockey table and a nice garden to relax in. C ▢ But ah, there's also venturing outside! Out front is the job board, which is a nice place to hit up if you're looking to add to your currently fat but depleting credit account. The problem is that the jobs are currently disappearing quickly, and those around you aren't giving you such nice looks. This apartment building is a known problem area at this point, and your signet doesn't do anything to settle their fears.

D ▢ With new year's week coming to an end, the residents of Shehui are feeling more celebratory than somber now. A lot of businesses are closed in order to enjoy themselves and ring in the new year the right way. A lot of restaurants and bars are currently offering specials, from free drinks to cheap food in order to pull in the holiday crowd. If you're looking to meet people and socialize in Shehui, this is the best way to do it. E ▢ Also because it's the post holiday season, stores are trying to push out the rest of their overstock merch. One item of note that's being peddled quite often is a cell phone. From tiny flip phones to the latest Orange product, cellphones are a necessity in this modern society. Get yours right now and begin texting right away! There are a few social apps that are installed, so you might be lucky enough to connect with another coven member! They also have Redmolar capability, which will automatically allow you to text those with phones in the area. Maybe send some mysterious stranger texts? F ▢ While you're hustling around Shehui, you may realize that the telepathic messages get stronger -- perhaps the new coven members are near? In general, you may be subject to telepathic messages about current Shehui goings on, random thoughts or requests to meet up at so-and-so location. A.K.A. let's utilize that telepathy...it may not last forever! G ▢ Because the week of remembrance is still going on, flowers are littering the streets, though most of them are dead. Bunches of flowers are being sold, and flower fortunes are a popular activity during this part of the holiday. There are fortune tellers on the street who will give you your flower of the year, but it's more fun to have them read with one another! There are digital cards that you can buy that will allow you to read fortunes on the go -- simply tap the screen of the card and your flower will be decided. Not happy with your choice? Too bad! It won't randomize to something different, no matter how hard you try. H ▢ While a lot of Shehui citizens are trying to avoid the coven members like the plague, a small alien child isn't so much concerned with who helps her, just as long as someone does. She accidentally left her house's door open and her five new kittens are suddenly missing! Where are they? Who knows! But she'd certainly like some help looking for them. I ▢ As the day winds down, snow falls on Shehui for the last time this season. The government is getting rid of their supplies that create the festive weather. This is old hat for older coven members, but for newbies? You better enjoy the snow while you can. After an hour or so, it piles up enough to truly be utilized for merriment...this also means that it's pretty easy to get snowed in if you happen to be in a building during the snow fall, which also creates some interactive opportunities. J ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world?

... Yes, he is.

[There's a warmth in her tone that's hard to disguise, but she sees no need to regardless. 9S's happiness and well-being make her happy in turn unlike anything else.]

It is. My world didn't really have seasons, so the snow here has been an interesting change.

[bulletbiter]

[ All the more important for him to remain that way, considering what he's been through. Not that Julius knows about that, though. ]

Was it warm all year round, then?

[ He recalls 9S telling him about their temporal separation. Curious that a world can change so drastically. ]

[apatheia]

[nodding] The weather never really changed from sunny and temperate. I imagine that the side of the planet that's in perpetual night is colder though.

[Although she doesn't have any experience with it aside from knowing it exists. For all her time in YoRHa, she'd never been deployed there.]

[bulletbiter]

[ Julius raises his eyebrows. ]

Perpetual night? [ He was about to ask how 2B slept, but then androids probably don't sleep. ] That's quite a large change. There were equal parts night and day in my time.

[ Though 2B probably already knows it. ]

I'd imagine the flora and fauna are much different, if there's no nighttime. [ how would they sleep?? ]

[apatheia]

Most likely, but I can't really say. Most information regarding human culture and history, and what they studied, no longer remains, and gathering that kind of intel wasn't a priority for me.

[9S would be more likely to know than anything, but even he was more focused on humanity and their habits specifically rather than what they studied. She folds her arms as she thinks of any differences she's noticed between the worlds they've been to and her own.]

The plant life there, trees especially, was much larger than what I've come across during my time with the coven. Most of the animals I've run into are also much larger in comparison, and stronger at that. [She's yet to run into an enemy here as challenging as boars and moose.]

[bulletbiter]

[ A world without humans. Such would be a world that the Earth wanted; a planet that had deemed her children unworthy. Not that a planet could deem anything; it just was. Existed with unspoken, unfeeling rules. The strong will surpass the weak. ]

I suppose they'd thrive without hunters. [ Humans did hunt, before the Aragami appeared. Then, they became the hunters. ] Did any of them speak, though?

[ They'll probably end up walking down the street while talking ]

[apatheia]

[And walking they go.]

Not that I know of. At one point though, there was a machine that lived as an animal and among them. [Machines and their intelligence is a difficult topic for her though. She just doesn't know enough about it.]

[bulletbiter]

[ Ah, the machines again. He thinks back to 9S talking about them, a long time ago. ]

Were they trying to befriend them, or copy them?

[apatheia]

I'm not really sure. Understanding the why wasn't really a priority at the time. [When the mission is to destroy machines, why's aren't all that important.] We did meet a machine who was focused on caring for and protecting animals though. They were more like a normal machine than the other one.

[Not that a machine showing any signs of intelligence was considered normal at one point, but they spoke and didn't look like an animal, so close enough??]

[bulletbiter]

[ He mulls over 2B's words, trying to recall if the other androids had described anything about machines in their previous conversations. ]

It must be good, to not have to fight them.

[ That's a good thing... right? ]

[apatheia]

... It is, yes.

[Objectively speaking, of course it is. And even when she was at home and fighting them, she privately wondered what the ultimate meaning of all of it was. Still, when your literal purpose in life is to fight and destroy machines, well. She can't help but often feel a bit lost in the coven, no longer having a designated purpose. Given the lack of real physical threats as well, she doesn't know if her combat capabilities even have much use.

It's freeing in a way, but she doesn't even know what to do with that freedom at times.]

[bulletbiter]

[ In a way, it's something that he can empathize with. Having trained his entire life to combat the Aragami, then have that life torn away from him... it too had left him without guidance.

But at least, his world would be free from his curse. With that realization, he could try to move on. ]

Sometimes, it feels like fighting is all that I'm good for. [ And he has no problem admitting this to her, because her role is like his. ] But there's nothing wrong with taking time out to see nature, I think.

[ Plants, animals, the like. ]

[apatheia]

You're right.

[It's certainly been an experience, seeing the differences between night and day or watching rain and snow fall. She realizes now that these are ordinary things for most people, but for her, they still feel so new. While her home was abundant with nature in a sense, there was still a lot she hadn't seen. The hub island alone had a larger variety of animals than she's used to.]

Is that what you do in your spare time here?

[bulletbiter]

[ Julius nods. He's glad that 2B can understand, in the same way that 9S can understand ]

Yeah. Nature is different from people, she doesn't need you to speak. You need only bask in her presence, she asks for no more.

[ A brief smile touches on his lips, memories of a time long gone; it turns apologetic once he's let his own words sink in. ]

- sorry. I'm being a bit sentimental, aren't I?

[apatheia]

It's fine. I don't mind.

[She doesn't quite smile, but there's a faint albeit warm amusement in her tone. She's not sure she's ever heard Julius speak like this.]

Besides, it's an interesting perspective. Given what I am, I can't say I've ever thought of myself as having much connection to nature.

[bulletbiter]

[ She's an android, it stands to reason. ]

That is true. [ He can understand - and somehow, feels a similar way. Thus his active attempts at visiting it. ] But you don't need to be organic to enjoy it, I think.

[ A pause. ]

If you're up for the experience, perhaps there is a garden here we can visit sometime.

[apatheia]

I'd like that. This city has a lot of different facilities to spend time leisurely, so I'll look into it soon.

[She's kind of been on the hunt for more recreational hobbies, in all honesty, so this seems like a good opportunity to explore one. Besides, she'd never say no to spending time with Julius.]
