How did you get into this building? This apartment room? What the fuck is going on? Let's refer back to this page for a semi in-depth, wow so detailed, explanation of your current situation. You'll also have a letter slipped under your door with some explanation about your whole coven situation, as well as info that explains you have magic now! And yet what kind of magic is conveniently left out. Are you up to speed? Great. Now, here's the question of the hour: what are you going to do about all this?
B ▢ Let's say that hanging out with these people is a little overwhelming...that's fine! There are plenty of things to do in the apartment building without interacting with roomies! There are vending machines to prop up, a leisure floor that contains a totally vacant air hockey table and a nice garden to relax in. C ▢ But ah, there's also venturing outside! Out front is the job board, which is a nice place to hit up if you're looking to add to your currently fat but depleting credit account. The problem is that the jobs are currently disappearing quickly, and those around you aren't giving you such nice looks. This apartment building is a known problem area at this point, and your signet doesn't do anything to settle their fears. |
E ▢ Also because it's the post holiday season, stores are trying to push out the rest of their overstock merch. One item of note that's being peddled quite often is a cell phone. From tiny flip phones to the latest Orange product, cellphones are a necessity in this modern society. Get yours right now and begin texting right away! There are a few social apps that are installed, so you might be lucky enough to connect with another coven member! They also have Redmolar capability, which will automatically allow you to text those with phones in the area. Maybe send some mysterious stranger texts? F ▢ While you're hustling around Shehui, you may realize that the telepathic messages get stronger -- perhaps the new coven members are near? In general, you may be subject to telepathic messages about current Shehui goings on, random thoughts or requests to meet up at so-and-so location. A.K.A. let's utilize that telepathy...it may not last forever! G ▢ Because the week of remembrance is still going on, flowers are littering the streets, though most of them are dead. Bunches of flowers are being sold, and flower fortunes are a popular activity during this part of the holiday. There are fortune tellers on the street who will give you your flower of the year, but it's more fun to have them read with one another! There are digital cards that you can buy that will allow you to read fortunes on the go -- simply tap the screen of the card and your flower will be decided. Not happy with your choice? Too bad! It won't randomize to something different, no matter how hard you try. H ▢ While a lot of Shehui citizens are trying to avoid the coven members like the plague, a small alien child isn't so much concerned with who helps her, just as long as someone does. She accidentally left her house's door open and her five new kittens are suddenly missing! Where are they? Who knows! But she'd certainly like some help looking for them. I ▢ As the day winds down, snow falls on Shehui for the last time this season. The government is getting rid of their supplies that create the festive weather. This is old hat for older coven members, but for newbies? You better enjoy the snow while you can. After an hour or so, it piles up enough to truly be utilized for merriment...this also means that it's pretty easy to get snowed in if you happen to be in a building during the snow fall, which also creates some interactive opportunities. J ▢ Wildcard! How will your character interact with this new and unusual world? |

... how does he opt into telepathy. he's disrupting the flow of walking by stopping in the middle of the street as he does, though he tries to be more subtle about looking around for his mystery conversation partner. maybe if he just ... focuses on responding ... ]
That was pitiful. [ 100% of his mental effort going into making sure qilby knows he's not impressed!!
more importantly: ] I don't recall starting a conversation.
[ jusis does not enjoy this sensation. ]
no subject
[OK, done.]
[Qilby is obviously having some kind of thought at the edge of the path, with the horns on his hat twitching the way they are - and with the fact that he actually snorted aloud at Jusis' response. Still, he's gentle in his response] Did you not? My [sincere-sounding] apologies; I heard it clear as day.
no subject
yes, that seems like a clear enough sign that that's his man, but making assumptions will be even weirder than letting it lie, so he, reluctantly, continues his telepathic efforts. ]
I ... [ am apparently accidentally transmitting my thoughts, which is the capstone to an already great day. he does not continue that train of thought—at least, not aloud this time. the actual continuation comes out in a faster, obviously flustered way: ] I appear to be having some troubles adjusting to these circumstances.
[ should he ask him to ignore it if he does it again ... it's probably better if someone calls him out on it, right?? ]
You aren't, by any chance, the man with the ... horns? Across the way?
[ people don't have those where he comes from. are those real horns ... is it a hat decoration? they're moving?? ]
no subject
You are a new arrival as well, I take it? Most of the others seem pretty able to control their thoughts, or at least how they broadcast - I admit I've had some trouble with it as well.
no subject
should he approach him? that would probably look even more suspicious than he already looks. he settles for approaching a vendor that is a little closer to qilby, so if he decides he's tired of telepathically communicating (which he is, but he should practice), it's easier to make the move to a more conventional format. ]
Yes. [ he is trying to hide how annoyed he is upon hearing that others are taking to telepathy better than he is. if the vendor notices his furrowing brow, they don't say anything, busy engaging the other citizens. ]
Where I come from, we talk with our mouths. Like civilized people. [ what exactly is uncivilized about telepathy?? we just don't know. ] Do I really look lost?
no subject
[Also, telepathy is the most civilized. :((((]
Where I'm from, we had a form of communication via the flowers - all linked, much like, ah... Redmolar, I think that was what I saw? This is-- [he approaches the vendor nearest to him and points out a plant bursting with violets, bundled together lovingly with a blue bow--] Ah, I'll take these-- Excuse me; it's still a bit hard to focus on two things at once.
no subject
How does that work? Communicating with flowers, I mean. That sounds magical, but a communication magic limited to using flowers sounds ... inconvenient, to say the least.
[ if he says something about flower language, so help him goddess. ]
sorry for the delay!!
This is a bit more convenient, though, in that not just anyone can hear your conversation!
all good /o/
I see your point, though. It sounds like something out of a fairy tale. [ no disrespect intended, though his tone doesn't reveal much one way or the other. ] I'm guessing your 'wakfu' doesn't exist in this place?
[ strange as it may be for a bustling city to be lacking in life energy, he has a suspicion to confirm. ]
no subject
[Still less interesting than the other question.]
I can't say for sure. I used to be able to sense it, just as easily as you can feel the breeze around you, but...
It seems they took that from me, as well. [Qilby hides his face, poking at his new violets, but he can't quite hide the frustration in his projected voice.]
no subject
he tries not to grimace as the vendor finally takes note of him. ]
Hold on. You wouldn't have lino flowers, would you? [ they have apparently never even heard of a lino flower. ] Then—nevermind. Let me think on it. [ jusis waves a dismissive hand. he really isn't into sentimental flower buying, but he hasn't even gotten his conversation partner's name yet. ]
I imagine that's been jarring for you. [ like everything about this already isn't. ] I'm sure this is the last thing you'd like to think of during the festivities, though. Pardon my callousness.
no subject
[Instead, Qilby laughs - mentally, though, and with a jarring edge to it. It's as though he's trying to push whatever thought comes to mind the other way. ] Ah, hardly; the festivities won't last nearly long enough to put that out of my mind.
I don't believe I've asked your name, for that matter.
no subject
And here I thought you would be the type to enjoy a bit of escapism. The violets are lovely. [ not quite as serious as the rest of his comments, more like ... teasing. ]
My name is Jusis Albarea.
no subject
[Instead, he'll ignore it and move on.] Hah - I think so too, or otherwise I wouldn't have gotten them for myself. Then again, this city seems so divorced from nature otherwise.
In any case, my name is Qilby; it's a pleasure, despite the circumstances.
no subject
Likewise, Qilby. [ he hadn't even considered it would be jarring for someone who communicates with flowers to be in a city. ] I seem to recall seeing a park on my way here, if it's any solace.
[ plainly manufactured, but it has more plantlife than most of the streets. ]
