[So you may have gotten a telepathic message a few days ago about an expedition to map the coastline . . . or maybe you were invited along by a friend. Whatever the reason, it's bright and early this morning, and it's time to set out!

Characters would have gotten a further telepathic message from Jay with a date and time to meet outside the shacks. They'll be heading east along the "shore," tracking the coast, and then heading directly back towards base camp . . . who knows what they'll find along the way?]

Why not try it, then? [He motions to the frogs.] Do you just concentrate on what you want the items to fuse into, or is there something else?

[parodeity]

[ dave glances at john. he hasn't questioned this before so he doesn't know the answer? ]

[windeity]

I mean...I try to concentrate but it doesn't always work. Sometimes there's a tug and it fuses into something else entirely. I don't want to hurt the frogs just in case that happens with living things, too. [There's a look upward.] I think it is also based on make-up of the objects themselves, which is weird to say.

[rebells]

No, that makes sense. If there's some sort of logic to how the items are fused . . . it's possible that there's only so many ways a particular set of items can be fused according to your power, and either you're hitting on one or you're not. Of course, you could also just need more practice.

[He shrugs.] If you're concerned about the frogs, you could try fusing two copies of something else first. Or you could have him draw you some frog figurines. [He motions at Dave.] Though living objects might work differently.

[parodeity]

I can definitely draw frog figurines if you want, bro, but yeah. They're not gonna be alive. I...have never drawn an alive thing? We both know that would like doom whatever the fuck to a tortured badly drawn existence.

[windeity]

It could be both, but practice does not hurt I guess. Frog figurines aren't living, but what about the brain? That was sort of alive and it fused fine, but at the same time it kind of wasn't? [Hm.] You might want to practice drawing alive things first.

But Jay has a point. Fusing two copies of the same thing...I don't think I've actually tried that yet.

[rebells]

This is becoming a philosophy question. "What constitutes life?" In any case, I'm not sure being badly drawn actually hurts whatever badly drawn creature you're bringing to life. It depends on how the magic accounts for inaccuracies, I suppose.

[His mouth twitches at the corners: he's clearly amused. To John:] It might tell us something about the logic of this power of yours. Whether the magic averages them or is additive.

[parodeity]

Like, before I bring them to life? But ok, fuse two copies of a thing together. ...Frogs or shells or whatever the fuck. Am I or am I not drawin' you things, I got lost?

[windeity]

Not only that and if the magic will then recognize what you're trying to draw. I think that would probably have something to do with it. [But that's another point.] I don't like thinking about my magic in mathematical terms, but I guess that is true, isn't it?

[He nods then.] Probably draw me frogs, yeah. I don't want to test on these guys yet. Unless Jay has another idea that should be brought to life.

[rebells]

I don't, as it happens. You might as well try to create the renowned "super-frog."

[parodeity]

A'ight, a'ight, all y'all settle down while I do this, then.

[ he'll draw out the light-pen again, and start. sketching frogs.

[And once the frogs are created he's. Laughing.]

Oh my god, you need to get better at this. [Thanks John. But he has two shitty jpeg frogs now and he has them in each hand (with all real frogs out of harm's way) and he focuses.] They feel kind of real? Maybe this is like the mutant cats. [Stop.

But okay. Give him a moment to focus...and the two frogs fuse on top of each other instead. So now we have a frog tower. Congratulations, everyone.]

So...human centipede style.

[windeity]

Gross. [He's staring at the frog tower in distain though.] That's not what happened with other stuff though. Remember the stars? [A metal spoon and a yellow star post-it created yellow metal stars.] What are we defining as additive though?

[rebells]

The opposite of what averaging would get you? Needing identifiable components of both individual items in the final product?

[He frowns.]

I don't know. What else have you fused so far?

[parodeity]

I like you. [ TO JAY. LMAO. ] Also he's fused lots of things. It isn't always additive; I'd say the doreos were more the laws of averagin'.

[windeity]

[He's just making a face at both of them? Math is stupid, Dave why are you like this, Jay let him live, etc etc. Still, he's pondering on that for a minute.]

Someone, though I will not say who, wanted me to fuse cheesy tortilla chips and chocolate cream-filled cookies together, and those fused in two different ways. Otherwise uh...we made that lamp I told you about, a paper crane with some sparkles and some color-changing yarn, this spinning carousel thing with metal stars attached because I fused a paper star and a metal spoon, and a knife with a Chinese fingertrap but that was sort of demented and gave us an extra blade.

[rebells]

[Jay just smiiiiles. I don't know why you're making a face, John. I certainly didn't do anything.]

You fused the same items and got two different results? What were they?

[parodeity]

One was a dorito-flavored creme with two chocolate cookies surroundin' it and the other was a creme-flavored creme with doritos surroundin' it.

[windeity]

[SIGH.]

They were both pretty disgusting, too. So that part was the same even if it showed up in two different forms.

[rebells]

. . . maybe it's more like choosing between one of multiple possibilities, then.

[parodeity]

Were you thinkin' anything different when you made the two different types, for that matter? Maybe intent does have somethin' to do with it.

[windeity]

I think I was trying to decide which of the possibilities would taste less weird. And then both possibilities showed up, so maybe? It's never happened like that before so maybe it has to be something that only has a set amount of circumstances. I don't know what you would call that.

Did you have multiple copies of the cookies and--doritos? That might also have something to do with it.
