Who: Haru and Archer
Where: Haru's Garden by the forest.
When: Day 134
Open/Closed: Closed.
[Thankfully Haru seems to be incredibly lucky in how she recruits people into helping her with her gardens. Today? It's Archer. Haru has several things ready to be helped carried. Supplies, a mix of her own soil that she thinks might help cultivate plants if they ever leave this place again— really it's just her own way of thinking ahead.]
Thank you for helping me today, Archer-san.
[Even if the guy was a little standoffish, she thinks there might be some good in him yet.]

its not much of an improvement on his attitude, but it is a bit. ]
Well, you did ask for it.
[ he also might be (read: definitely is) working on a side project of his own, involving... swords. making them. and the clay that gets dug up and not used is... well, useful for one thing. the rocks are too.
a-and!! its not like!!! he would have helped her if she didnt!!! or anything!!! ]

[It looks like even with the attitude, Haru isn't bothered. She knows that his help won't go unpaid. She helps with his side project and he helps with hers. Equivalent exchange and all that.]
Now, if you don't mind... those bags of soil need to come with us. I can carry the tools if you can get those.
[To tell the truth, Haru isn't sure she would have gotten the soil out there if not for Archer's help.]

Humans need to eat, including myself. What you're doing is arguably more important than the rash of exploration going on all the time. [ and thats his reason for helping!!!! not out of like. genuinely wanting to help her, okay!!! he's.... he's absolutely that nice. (and, it helps that its advantageous for everyone if he does help, so he can rationalize it more than just helping.)
without another word, archer crouches down next to the bags of dirt, and hoists the first up onto one shoulder with a quiet grunt. beef!!! he's strong, this is easy. he can manage a second one too! on the other shoulder! haha, d rank strength doesnt matter now, he's buff as hell and it lends itself to being physically helpful! nice.
also, just as a note, his form is great when he rises out of the squat. for the record. ]
What's your plan for when the weather starts to turn?

She sighs, she agrees. But also the exploration of the island is almost just as important. They need to know where they're staying.]
I'm only doing what I can to help.
[She doesn't like taking too much credit for herself either. Doing this was something that would benefit everyone else. Otherwise Haru feels like she would be incredibly useless and not much help to the situation.]
I'm hoping I don't have to worry about that until we get back. I would just cover them for the colder seasons... but I can't cover them right now.

let's be honest. make sure you can eat first, then explore. and archer might just be a little annoyed he cant servant-jump his way around the whole thing in 20 minutes with his four kilometer vision range anymore. ]
Hm. Made any progress on fixing your bounded field to a fixed place? It might work as a sort of magical greenhouse that way.
[ thats right!!! its been three months but he remembers that first talk!!! ]
no subject
A magical greenhouse. Haru didn't really think about it that way. But would she be able to keep a barrier for that long? Would she be able to leave it unattended?]
I can hold it longer, but I've never thought about trying to leave it unattended. I'm always right in the area.
[That would prove to be something very tricky.]
no subject
True... the downsides of a literal barrier. I knew a mage who would keep barrier spells inside of gemstones, but they were single use, and expensive to accumulate...
[ problem solving attempts!! yeah!!! except archer keeps trying to gesture with his hands before he remembers he's got a bigass bag of dirt on each shoulder that he really can't afford to drop. ]
What about working in conjunction with someone else? I know at least one person here who can do basic enchantment of objects.
no subject
At the very least I can go as many tries as I need to on my own barrier.
[She hums in thought.]
I think working with someone else would be good. But there would still be a problem if the enchantment didn't hold or my power wasn't the right kind of power to be altering that way.
