Danger may not be imminent -- but that doesn't mean things will always be so peaceful. Being new and gifted with magic, the time has come to try and create a force to be reckoned with. While Genette is more focused on interpersonal unity (and not her poor planning skills), Brie wants to worry about other, more important things. The explosions and power missteps grow older and older with each new batch of coven members, so let's nip that in the bud ASAP, shall we? All the newbies have been gathered together in the base camp clearing with very explicit instructions -- hopefully this isn't such a daunting task that she needs to resort to tying people together, like some bougie servants running around. There is a bit of a problem of personalizing activities -- A.K.A. she's not doing that again. It was a mess last time, and hard to keep up with who all was succeeding and falling flat on their face. Instead, there are three distinct stations that are being utilized in order to try and grab every type and subset of power.
B ▢ Healing is a bit trickier -- some may get lucky and find someone who is unintentionally injured or who is harboring an old wound that Genette hasn't sniffed out. In the case of needing to focus on healing, Brie has a small knife at her disposal. Any volunteers are going to be sliced against their palm. Genette is on standby to heal this wound if a newbie can't pull it off, but don't worry. Even in the worst case scenario, this wound won't last long. C ▢ Other magic powers may work better with items involved -- dismantling, levitation, the like. So there's a big bin of items in the middle of another roped off clearing. From salt and pepper shakers to MP3 players, your character can find some sort of junk in this bag. Whatever your character wants to do with these items and their magic, they're there to use. D ▢ Another roped off area is for more abstract magic. Other volunteers can come and help with whatever these magics might be -- emotional reading, creating plants. Those hard-to-define magic types can practice here with as much help as they can find. E ▢ Some older coven members have garnered Brie's seal of approval. If they know anything about fighting or magical training, they've been welcomed to create their own space and get newbies to learn whatever skills they have to offer. F ▢ Finally, magic isn't the only training going on here. There's one final area that's roped off and filled with swords, stuck about a foot in the ground -- thanks Brie. Characters who are good with swords can of course show off their skills, but it's also a good idea that inexperienced characters learn how to wield one of these weapons. |

[ percival stands tall, his head held high — he's not the friendliest specimen, but he does seem to be watching intently. ]
Show me what you're capable of.
[ if it's a form of healing, he'll find a way around that too. ]
E )
[ no items, final destination.
his sword isn't equipped for a change. he's positioned in a fighting stance, chin up, fists out, chest exposed, y'know. ]
You should know how to defend yourself, should you lack a weapon. [ he meets your gaze...before punching forward, purposefully missing your face by the slightest bit.
think fast. ]
F )
[ SWORDS. his field of expertise. his flagrant, signature red sword is off to the side somewhere. instead, he wields a basic blade — and then gestures one towards you. ]
How comfortable are you? I'll decide your level of skill for myself.
a/b/c
Are you so sure you want me to practice? I have a healing power but the circumstances under which it works... are a little intense.
[She seems a little reluctant. She also seems a little embarrassed to admit what her actual power is as well? She knows that she has to practice some time, but why does it have to be right now?]
no subject
So? I do as well. [ he brings a blade to his palm, effortlessly creating a clean cut for her to treat. ]
Go on. Show me.
[ slap the shit out of him, dia. ]
no subject
You have to be kidding me!
[She hesitates. But heistating could be bad in a tighter situation, right? Though her first thought isn't that right now.]
Don't say I didn't warn you!
[And with that, she raises her hand....and literally backhands Percival across the face. It doesn't take long for her to jump to apologizing.] I'm sorry! I'm sorry!
no subject
blank for a moment. as though he's processing what exactly happened. then comes the anger: his expression distorts into a scowl and...
promptly fades into mild irritation instead. his eyes rove over the freshly healed skin before he meets her gaze. ]
Stop apologizing. You did it for my sake, so there's no point in balking afterwards.
[ he sighs before bringing the blade to his skin yet again. ]
What an annoying skill — but it's efficient. I want you to try it again. Hold your head high, and strike me as hard as you can.
no subject
[It sounds like she might be shocked that it actually worked? In disbelief that he's asking her to do it again? All of it.
She can't really seem to process this situation. This just isn't normal. She has to cope with this. She has to get over the hesitation. Rest assured she is going over all of this in her mind right now, with minimal interruption in thought....]
f
when ready, she leans close. ]
We're wasting precious time. Are you ready or not?
no subject
he meets her gaze with a smirk, leisurely positioning himself for a moment. the sword is much lighter, makes for a more agile grip than the lohengrin does. fingers curl around the hilt, and he motions the tip of his blade towards her chest within seconds. lightly, it pokes against her the slightest bit. ]
Shouldn't I be asking you that?
no subject
her charge is nimble and quick, but reckless. he wouldn't have any trouble parrying her at all. ]
no subject
You're agile, but reckless — charging without coverage is an easy way to get yourself killed. How will you remedy your mistake, now that you have the privilege of still being alive?
no subject
nanami was nothing if not relentless. ]
I won't be done until I say as such. I'm not the type to give up so easily. My life is not a privilege, but a right I will always protect myself.
e
[and this is as far as Yuna gets before Percival feint-punches her and she squawks inelegantly, taking a big step back and holding her hands out in front of her and waving them around.]
N-no, that's, uh— [please don't make her fist fight this man he's already mad at her?!] No thanks!
[nailed it]
no subject
You power is an overwhelming one, isn't it? Then we need to make sure you know how to control it!
[ he attempts to deck her again, this time stopping right at her forehead. ]
I won't be angry — I'm telling you to strike me already.
no subject
[okay so this time she panics just enough at the direction and closeness of the next punch that instinct kicks in—fighting enough eldritch abominations will instill some of that into you—and she moves to grab the arm attached to the fist coming at her. the goal looks like it's about to be to just flip Percy right over her shoulder and slam him into the fucking dirt but she just
stops the motion halfway through
so she can catch him and hold him up above her head again]
—S-sorry!
no subject
there's a hand curled around his. it flips his entire weight over and then pulls him back. and here he is, raised over her, yet again.
sternly, as though he were a baseball coach, he exclaims: ]
THIS ISN'T FIGHTING!
[ he's trying to wriggle out of her grasp. AGAIN. ]
You can't simply...PICK UP YOUR ENEMIES AND HOLD THEM OVER YOU HEAD! YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO CHANNEL YOUR STRENGTH! RELEASE ME AT ONCE! WE'RE STARTING OVER!
no subject
she's just making distressed noises the entire time he yells like a puppy being scolded but she's...also not putting him down...... she's scrambling this way and that in an attempt to keep her balance the whole time so she doesn't drop him?!]
I-I'm keeping you from punching me, though?! [like!! it's working!!!!!] I know this isn't the right way to do this b-but I'm not losing the fight, either! Sorry, I'm sorry!
[not sorry enough to put him back on his own two goddamn feet though. she doesn't want to start over???]
no subject
percival has no choice but to bring his legs up and over his head...and quite literally...roll out of her grasp.
the landing hurts — he falls headfirst and jumps back onto his feet with the aid of 1) ample flexibility and 2) the sheer strength of his legs, but he certainly gives her an iron hot scowl as he dusts himself off. ]
You're not allowed to pick me up — EVER. AGAIN. Do you understand?
[ those fists are back up. ]
Get into position. Now. We're going to spar, regardless of whether you like it or not. You can't keep running away from this!
no subject
U-understand! Understood! Sorry!
[how many times can she apologize in the span of one whole minute. TIME TO FIND OUT
getting into position is actually just going to entail her frantically waving her hands in front of her some more, though...]
I-I really don't think that's a good idea? I'm not trying to run, really, but I really don't want you to get hurt...!
