[OPENING] island hub - day 1
Who: All Characters
Where: Main Hub
When: Day 1
Open/Closed: Open to All

TDM threads can be considered canon if you so choose, they contain the power that you apped with and both parties confer that the thread is canon.
For characters that were on the TDM and who were not accepted/didn't app, these characters will be considered dropped characters that were magicked away.

Where: Main Hub
When: Day 1
Open/Closed: Open to All

Night has fallen upon everyone. It's thus far been an eventful day -- you've met some new people, discovered some new aspects of yourself that weren't there before you appeared here (however that might have happened). The original inhabitants of the island have been working hard to prepare a few things. One activity might have been one you were a part of, but there's still time to get your hands dirty.
Post feasting, there are dozens of crabs and a pile of roasted boar meet that are up for eating. Even if you didn't offer to help in making any of the food, they're open to eat it -- even if the true helpers may give you dirty looks. The boar is fine, if not a little bland and chewy, but it's probably better than the jerky. The crab is delicious, if not a little tasteless...there problem with the crab isn't exactly the taste, though.
This may also cause a bit of an issue with your character's powers. They're still getting physically and mentally acclimated to these new changes, so expect their telepathy and magic to go a little haywire. |

It's almost completely dark outside when the next event of the evening happens. You're living your life when you see it out of the corner of your eye -- it's absolutely hard to miss. What you see is a large lit caravan, larger than even an army tank. It's bright white and shining, covered with golden, ornate details that emanate an even more dazzling sparkle. The entire thing is aglow, and it's quickly coming towards the large bonfire that's been made. It's not rolling across the sand, but instead it's floating, and so is a matching trunk that's sailing along next to a figure beside the caravan.
There are two other thread options associated with this prompt: Genette's top level and her telepathy training post. Around the same time as Genette is handing out this new little goody bag, you suddenly receive a telepathic message. It might seem a little strange at first -- but on that note, what about tonight isn't strange?
After you've met Genette, she's also got a few more supplies that she pulls out a small door in the base of the caravan. She's insistent that you only get two items, since there aren't exactly a lot of them to go around!

As the night winds down, it's recommended by Brie that you should probably go to be in your hut -- or at the very least get somewhere inside. There are a lot of people around the camp, however, so it's no surprise that there are a few people waiting around to get their fill of food and supplies before heading to bed. The noise of the new members and the light of the fire have attracted a very large pack of boars, who you'll later find make routine trips to the beach every night. Boar mating season has made the wild hogs rather testy, and the smell of food -- even if it's their own boar brethren -- have made them even more volatile.
However, it's not like staying up at night doesn't have its advantages. Once midnight hits, another species of animal makes its regular rounds across the base camp. In the sky, characters can see an Aurora Borealis-like sight. Instead of being dancing green and blue lights, however, the reality is that they are a massive species of space worm, and hundreds are wiggling past on their way to travel back home. They're shimmering and in every color imaginable, lighting up the sky with their magnificent hues.

It seems like it actually was a good idea to do so. What's this crazy asshole think he's gonna do!? Okuyasu stands back a little as he sees someone trying to stare down a boar?! What the hell?! He doesn't even have a chance to wonder if his thoughts are broadcasting, but he's already coming up to him.
Slow and steady. Not like he wants to get killed by a boar. ]
Oy, oy! What are you doing? Did he steal some food or somethin' from ya? Just let it go, man! [ Okuyasu pauses as he looks at the guy's face. Huh? He looks a little familiar but-- but now isn't the time! ]
no subject
Fine.
Accepting his temporary perviousness, Jotaro dodges to the side with mere seconds to spare. The boar charges past, and then they have a very little bit of time while it realizes its target is still in the area before it charges again.]
Let's get out of here. [It's not the most collected he's ever sounded, but he still sounds a lot calmer about it than he actually is.]
no subject
[ If that didn't work out, he'd think that'd be a real shitty way to get skewered by a boar, but since it did work out, he thinks that might have a pretty cool dodge. Save for the fact that he's taking a step back to start running. ]
Yeah, yeah! [ Don't have to tell him twice with a boar chasing them. Yet as he's sprinting -- in a straight line -- to get away from the charging beast. He swings his head to look at his companion who has nerves of steel, it seems. ] Can we outrun a boar?! I'm startin' to think we might not be able to outrun a boar!
no subject
They're near the edge of the beach now, which Jotaro hopes will be enough to get the boar off their tails, but if not, he thinks he remembers something from a nature show a few years ago that might help.]
Try to head for those trees over there. If it doesn't lose interest in us, we should still be able to climb out of its reach.
no subject
Climbing a tree now! My legs really hurt from suddenly sprinting like this. I'm not complaining! It's just somethin' that I'm thinkin' about! It feels a little bad to complain when yer not complainin'. So I'm not complainin'! [ He hasn't quite mastered the whole 'stop sharing function' when he starts talking to someone like this, but at least there is a destination in sight now.
Okuyasu does let out a bit of a yell when he hears that boar let out an angry scream behind them. ] It's really pissed off! IT'S REALLY PISSED OFF! What did you do?! What did you do, man?! Why'd ya have to glare at it!
no subject
One of them was trying to get in my bag, so I threw a rock into a bush to distract it and accidentally hit that one. [It's the sack in his hand, the one with the water and mirror and so on. He wasn't about to leave that shit behind!
They're almost to the trees now, at least.]
no subject
I guess, I guess that makes-- [ Okuyasu starts to say that he thinks that makes a lot of sense but he shouldn't have thrown rocks anyway. Maybe they would have given him another bag. But he isn't able to as he was focused on linking their pain so to take on some of the pain that the guy was having from the sudden sprinting away from the forest --
-- he slams into one of the trees that they were going to climb up. Sorry about sharing that, Jotaro. ]
no subject
Except then dude runs into one of the trees they've just reached, and Jotaro feels the impact all down his face and front. He stumbles to a halt and braces himself with one hand against the offending tree, sucking air like a dying man.] Fuck. [Out loud, this time, because what the fuck just--
Wait, shit, there's the boar still, it's closing the distance, they need to climb fast.] Up the tree. Now!
no subject
[ He points to the tree like it's the problem. Holding his face for a second, he only pulls himself out of it when the other tells him to start climbing. ] That really fucking hurt, man! [ Enough that there's some blood running down the side of his face where he cut it against the bark. But he's climbing -- he's climbing.
The boar's enraged cries are enough to keep him climbing until he finally feels like he's safe. He can only really tell that when he just feels a slight vibration from the boar ramming into the tree itself before starting to circle it.
And that is when he pauses to see where the other guy is. ] It'll... it'll get tired of that and leave, right? ... Ow... ow. That hurt.
no subject
Okay. Good. The tree is big and sturdy, so they should be able to stay safely in it as long as necessary. Probably.] It should. [He doesn't know how long it's supposed to take, buuuut he's not gonna mention that just yet.] You should've watched where you were going. I would've been fine.
[He doesn't know what Okuyasu actually did, but he definitely did something.]
no subject
[ He breaks off a branch as he makes shooing gesture with it. "Shoo, shoo." But eventually, he decides that isn't really doing much but keeping the boar around so maybe he'll just ignore it until it goes away. ]
I didn't know that, man! Ya didn't look too good. I'm not someone'd that abandon someone to save my own skin! That goes against my man's pride. Ya know?
no subject
And I don't like when people get hurt because of me. [So they're at a bit of an impasse, right? Jotaro does have some manners, however, so:] Thanks, though. It was pretty cool up until you hit the tree.
no subject
[ He initially puffs out his chest at the compliment before pausing as he acknowledges the rest of it. ] Hey! The tree came up faster than what I thought that it would. [ Once more he defends himself about it. ]
Anyway... I'm Okuyasu. Pleasure to meet you. [ He sniffs and wipes his nose on his sleeve. ]
no subject
My name's Jotaro. I'm pleased to make your acquaintance.
no subject
[ Hm. How funny. This guy also looked a bit like Jotaro-san, too. But he is a lot younger, though. So, there is no way that they are the same person. Though, that Girono guy said something about timelines and -- mm, that shit is too confusing. It hurts his head to think about it so he just nods instead. ]
A real weird way to meet someone but there are worst ways. After all, we could have died! [ And a legitimate laugh. Good to laugh about these things to get past them. ]
It is also nice to meet someone from Japan, too! It real messes with my head that everyone is talking different languages but hearing it one way, huh? So, it is nice to know what yer saying and what I am hearing is the same... 'cause sometimes, it is weird to think about!
