[It starts with a telepathic message over video, Jay using the mirror shard gifted by Genette to broadcast this message to the rest of the coven:]

It's come to our attention that some of you are going to want to help the Palai with their raid problem, so we thought--if we're going to be involved in this anyway, we might as well do it right. How about a meeting in front of our temporary home at noon? We'll discuss our strategy and assign roles. I'll broadcast it via this link, as well, for anyone who can't make it back in time. We welcome input from anyone who has a brain in their heads.

[If you come to the front of the house at the appointed time, you will indeed find Jay and Dirk standing together discussing--something, and perhaps a small crowd beginning to gather. This meeting will also be broadcast over the signets for anyone who wants to listen in there.]

Okay, but what do I actually do up until that point? Walk around the streets? Something else...?

[The concept of smoke signals makes perfect sense and is pretty straight forward. It's like Rider at the bridge all over again, but hopefully with less tentacles and terror. Then again, there was a sort of...calculation of ability already that made Waver uncomfortable.

You'd be stationed at a lookout point. It'd be better if you were able to stay there.

[Okay, that much made sense. Waver nodded, quiet and thoughtful.]

[His voice is monotone but he is sincere enough. Help matters a lot.]

[Waver nods too, but he gives Dirk another look. It is all in Waver's eyes, and it seems to be trying to ask for an aside without saying anything. There's a twinge of nerves in there too, mixed with something like shame.]

[He catches it, and decides to reach out telepathically.]

Do you want to talk after the meeting?

[teratias]

[Oh.

Duh.

Waver had forgotten all about the telepathy network.]

[Damnit, he's bad at vulnerability! There's another way to do this, right? He just doesn't want to be alone since he's not the best at fighting.]

In case something happens to me, like I get sick or there's a problem with something else, can there be a second person wherever you guys put me as well?

[To be fair, they were just discussing smoke signals. LOOK you never know when telepathy might go out.]

Yeah, sure. Are you worried that's likely?

[He doesn't know about the fighting thing; he's genuinely concerned that Waver has an undisclosed health thing.]

[Waver would rather have Dirk think it is an undisclosed health thing than what the reality is. Jeez, what Waver wouldn't give for Rider to be here.]

Probably not, but, y'know. Just in case?
