[Becoming a food prep would have been easy. She'd prefer being a chef straight up – though on the other hand, the concept of working for somebody and making the same dishes over and over on demand isn't that appealing. What's certain is that Velvet isn't going to spend time standing around, twiddling her thumbs.

She's well suited for a job in security as well, and it seems like a practical position for somebody who wants to glean information on how this city is really run. Soon, the issue she finds is obvious in retrospect, with a place that's so low on crime: it's a dull job.

While they shop, is your character looking vaguely suspicious? Like, very vaguely. Velvet is bored to the point that she might be antagonizing people on purpose.]

You better not try anything funny. Trust me.

[On the other end, Velvet doesn't care much for shopping. She spends a modest amount on groceries and a garment of two, then takes a bit of time to wander between the many stores. Whether your character is spending their early credit gains on frivolities, or they look they look as disillusioned as her, Velvet isn't shy about sharing her opinion.]

Who needs all of this crap? It almost makes me sick how excessive it is.

[A lot of people were struggling to get by and living in fear back where she came from. It's a little tough to swallow.]

[ F ]

[Velvet isn't quite ready to do anything brazenly, openly rebellious – though she is leaning in that direction – but the dome that surrounds Shehui is a point of intrigue. She examines the material for a brief moment, then raps her knuckles against it.]

What do you think this is made of?

[A stranger is likely to know as much as anybody else.]
